Low turnout because NO GOOD ROADS to access the train stations. Lagos and FG built train tracks but ignored the local community roads leading to some of the train stations. It can only happen in Nigeria.
The peak period is always fully booked while they should work on price offered during off-peak period that should be discounted to encourage patronage.most commercial buses understand this when they reduced their price when going against peak time.
Lol......I don't think you've ever been to Paris or London before cause if you have, you wouldn't have made this stupid comment. Their metro and train network is so extensive that it will take a hundred years of constant investment in Lagos to reach half the level of either city
The seats arrangement may require a review. Commuters may not like to sit facing a 'stranger' over the period of a journey. A regular seats arrangement where commuters face the front, as in conventional bus transport may be more attractive. Honestly, the present seats arrangement in the Lagos Metro is unusual.
I advise that the government make the ticket price and fare very affordable for commuters at this beginning stage. In Abuja, the use of the light rail was made free of charge to city dwellers till end of December to allow for a smooth bedding-in and easier transition before charges are introduced. It is a strategic move and plan by the government. Things are financially difficult for many people at the moment. Anything that adds to an increase in price or expenses, will be avoided. Cheap pricing will work the magic.
But it will affect private bus operators. That's taking away thousands of people making livelihood through that mean. So the train is for who can afford it...
The line is too expensive and there are other cheaper transport in that corridor. From Abule egba to CMS is #800, how do you want someone to join train in ikeja and terminate at Iddo and then struggle for another transport to CMS? It does not make any sense. Also, they plan to link the line to Nationa theatre, and not directly to CMS. So, I will drop at national theatre and struggle to enter blue line? It does not make sense.
That’s how it happens all over the uk there are 6 or 7 different lines and they overlap at certain stations so you can connect to other lines. It’s very normal actually
Government did not study the transport routes. The main destination from the mainland to island during morning rush hour is CMS. So the rail is useless to those living in that part of lagos during morning and evening rush hours. The old rail cabins on that track only served those coming in from the neighbouring state into lagos.
Sitting on the stairs is a safety hazard … those coming or going down the stairs have to go up or down the stairs in between ppl sitting on the stairs with nothing to hold on to. The stations needs to be furnished with seating.
They should have started with free rides for few weeks until people got accustomed to it and built a consumer base. The fares are even more expensive than normal buses from what I heard, lol
It's ok they don't have to have too many people riding it. Just cos it's not packed doesn't mean ppl don't ride it. For that route actually it have its peak or rush hour. That's good enough. More ppl will fall in soon.
Yes it should be. Business men living along the blue line route petronised it most.mainly igbos. Everage yerubas cant pay such amount they charges not that they dosent have the money just that they are too wise.
You have to tribalise who can afford a service in a city where everyone is up and doing in their business. And you igbo's will be the first to call others bigots. This your narrative is classless and grossly irresponsible
The blue line often time run less than half capacity too. It need to be addressed. More awareness. Weekly and monthly tickets introduction maybe needed.
Nigerian government lack business brain, they build infrastructures and think of return on investment, not realising some infrastructures are long term investment.Even if it's not making profit right now,the indirect benefit to the state is profitable already, gradually the infrastructures will start making profit. They need to reduce the fare drastically, student free, retired people free just to encourage patronage. That would start pulling the people and society to the use of train. The trains always need to run often, every hour at least instead of the current 3 times a day l think.Thanks.
It's far cheaper than the local transport. The masses just prefer the local buses and rickshaws because they make their journey seamless compared to using the metro system. The only way for the state government to make people use the trains is to ban the individual local buses, rickshaws and motorcycles, but that would mean people walking a very long distances to each train stations because an average Lagosians cannot afford a taxi from his house to the train stations. Personally, I like the trains, but for now, it's not "feasibly seamless" to use in the state.
Low turnout because NO GOOD ROADS to access the train stations. Lagos and FG built train tracks but ignored the local community roads leading to some of the train stations. It can only happen in Nigeria.
That's not the main reason and it's not all the roads that are bad
Is that really the mean reasons I doubted

You have to create awareness not just on social media but also ofline.
Lagos is changing her story in infrastructural development and in the next decade Lagos will be in League of Paris, London and even Dubai...

Have you ever seen a inter city retro rail before? They are always arranged facing each other, go do your research
Government should try and link the red line to blue line at National theater so that people going to Lagos Island patronize.

Extend the metro to the business and commercial area , reduce the price and shutdown yellow buses
This time next year would be a different story
At least África is progressing slowly

And why are people walking on the train tracks? Nigeria will always be Nigeria 😂😂😂
Village people that want to shit on the track
Poverty and low purchasing capacity means that the average Lagosian cannot afford the fee
