    For about 7 years now everytime i open youtube it goes to this video. I have cleared my cookies and use a different browser than I did when I first watched this vid. Stan is like a brother to me now. I'd die for him.

    Best instruction out there to burn a DVD! Thank you! Just used it to burn a memorial video for a loved one who passed away this year. God bless.

    Thank you so much! Never burned a DVD before, thought it would be simple, failed several times and was ready to quit. You made it so easy for me, thank you.

    I just spent 2 days trying to figure out how to get from Premiere Pro 2015.3 to a DVD. You showed me in 8 minutes! Thank you so much! Way back in the day, when i had Premier Elements, all you had to do wash choose burn, and you had a DVD. Ah, the good ol' days.

    Very helpful video. My biggest difficulty was downloading Adobe Encore to make this all happen. Had no problems following the instructions. Everything laid out in a very understanding way.

    Thanks, Stan. You are a life saver. People still want DVD's especially those non-tech or old school folks (churches, people in agriculture, etc.). I had to create on for a memorial service too. SO helpful.

    • @stanarthur
      @stanarthur  7 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      I keep hearing that from others. There must be something to it because this video is watched 500% more than my other 50 Premiere Pro tutorials. Thanks for watching!

      I live in the midwest and work with a small church and provide video services for horse owners, they can't (or don't) stream so it's essential for me to be able to give them a DVD. For the churches, the older parishioners want that CD or DVD...I was frantic until I found your workshop. Thanks again!

      Unfortunately, as of April 2019, Adobe removed it from the Adobe Creative Cloud. You can still use this technique to create the mpeg-2 DVD file type but you will need to search for a free option for authoring your desk. There are some out there.

    Great tutorial, I take it dropping the bitrate down is all that CS6 does automatically for you when you use dynamic link from Premier. I film gradings at my TKD club that are nearly always 2 hours long, the first time I edited in CC then saved out as DVD I could not get it to fit so I re edited the whole thing in CS6 then dynamic linked it to Encore and it worked great. I just really wish Adobe would update Encore, so many people still use it.

      Simply export to H.264. If you are working in 1080p, a bitrate of 10-15 Mbps will look good on screens up to 60 inches. After selecting H.264, you can also just pick the 1080p TH-cam preset from the huge list of presets. That bitrate is quite bit higher, though.

    Thanks Stan, as an editor doing this for over 30 years and stopped burning DVD's for clients several years ago still great to know - since I forgot how to do it and now need to do it for a specific client's event.
    Have a question and not sure if this has been addressed but to eliminate those pesky black bars on the sides of the frame when using the standard export feature out of premiere. Do you crop or resize the video?

    • @stanarthur
      @stanarthur  8 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      +Troy Hudson Black bars can be eliminated by 1) choosing an export preset that matches the source format and 2) choosing "scale to fill" in export settings.

    FYI: CC Suite 2015 and on, no longer supports Encore. It's simply not there. They are discontinuing the program. You can retro install CS6 and its there but that's a pain.
    Now with Windows 10 there is no Windows DVD maker either. There is no simply way to make a DVD from a created video file any more without buying another program.

    • @stanarthur
      @stanarthur  7 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Encore has not been updated since CS6. But you can still download it in the Creative Cloud app by downloading CS6 in "Previous Versions". There are tutorials for this on TH-cam. Take heart. It still works but it is no longer dynamically linked to Premiere, which is why you can no longer import Premiere Pro sequences. They must be exported to MPEG-2 DVD files in Adobe Media Encoder first. The good news is that exporting in Media Encoder is about 10 times faster than transcoding a sequence in Encore used to be.

    Nice job, Stan. To get rid of those black bars at the side of your video, be sure to select "Scale to Fill" instead of "Scale to Fit."
    Also, I usually output the AC3 audio file right from Adobe Media Encoder (PPro) instead of going through the extra step of outputting a WAV file.
    Cheers.

    First off, thank you soo much for this video. Second, I know you suggest not using a DL dvd but what do you do if you have no choice but to use one? I ask because I have a 122 min video that is HD and my only option is a DL. Are there different steps to burning onto one? What exactly is so difficult with using a DL DVD?

    • @stanarthur
      @stanarthur  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Listen closely: 1) You CANNOT put HD video on a DVD. Once you have transcoded it to MPEG-2 DVD, it is 480p. It is no longer 1080p. The DVD format is SD (standard definition) only. 2) The Blu-Ray disc format was invented for HD (1080p) video. You can also use Adobe Encore to create Blu-Ray discs. 3) If you still think you need to create dual-layer DVDs, use the DVD+R DL format. Remember: IT WILL NOT BE HIGH DEFINITION!

    • @nlkosling8491
      @nlkosling8491 7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      DVDs are an SD format so by definition, from what I've read, you can't make them 1920x1080. For that, you would need to move to BlueRay Disk (or HD DVD).

      It might be that your playback device (DVD player, TV / monitor) is up-resing the image. I've seen this done really well on some HDTVs. The only way I know of to make sure your DVD image looks its best on an HDTV is to shoot high-quality, well-lit, HD+ footage and then keep it in its native resolution until you export to DVD. I think there is a noticeable difference between an image that was shot in HD and then encoded for playback on TH-cam as opposed to an image that was shot in SD and then encoded with the same specs for playback on TH-cam. The stuff shot originally in HD just looks better.

      No you cannot. DVD is confined to 720x480. You need to consult with the film festival. Each one has their own different standards. I know because I've been in 15 of them.
