It is exported and stamped by the Rwandan army and militias occupying the Easten part of Congo. I do not believe that this journalist is Congolese; He looks Rwandese to me. He was just about to wash Rwanda and got caught.
He was interrupted because he was being contradictory. He was about to say not all minerals sourced in Rwanda is illegal. Which is not true. The mineral is being sourced in a war torn country making it illegal from the beginning. And his last name doesnt sound congolese.
There’s a deeper darker history between the US and DRC and minerals. Unfortunately you can’t find any legit info online about the true intentions behind the Dodd-Frank act of 2012. Rwanda has benefited the most from the “conflict” and is the HQ for both legal and illegal minerals-all smuggled from DRC. I've been telling Apple phone users the bs behind their business model. I only use a MacBook, but im back to PC because I find it easier to do my tech work on. I've just not seen the value in prices rising for phones that you can get for cheaper from another country with the same or more features at times. I don't even like contracts, lol.
Africa is poor yet they don't want to leave Africa 🌍
If Africa was poor the world wouldn’t hunt for the natural resources
@@haitharali7818 Africans should wake up and change their mindset. Africa and other countries should be talking business, if they are not strong in business terms, then will always be win-lose situation instead of win-win situation.
Why should they leave their homeland because of callous and evil doers?Watch your mouth.
It speaks ridiculousness.
The US and EU are not welcoming of Africans when they try to migrate. Whites take from Africa and then deny their attempt to immigrate or they are faced with fierce racism and discrimination in the Western countries when they do. Africans should be allowed to live free of racism and with respect and prosperity in their own countries.
Why should one run away from a problem rather than consult it firsthand? Also disregarding the financial implications of moving. Do you think a miner can afford to move outside of their country, never mind their continent? Aren’t y’all the ones complaining of increased non-white immigrants? Before you speak, process your words and how unintelligent they are.
Consumerism has much blood on its hands. These companies have exploited in every way humanity and nature. 😢
Well well well put
This is Black Lives Matter I will support.
It’s about time
Exactly
what about other tech giants like Samsung, Xiaomi, Honor, Oppo, Sony ?
They're all liable!
DRC we are with you in this fight.
Why does no one ever mention Uganda's involvement in all this?
Uganda is always behind Rwanda
Probably bc they're the peace keepers and hosts of many if not all displaced Congolese refugees. Where do you think the Congolese are fleeing for safety? Definitely not Rwanda. Uganda's involvement can be complex but most of it is for the good cause. Museveni though probably be reprimanded bc he definitely a double agent bc no way he's not backing Kagame in some way or another.
@@limofootballyou obviously do not know the history of the the region. Wake up and get off mainstream media.

🥲🥲🥲🥲same here in Australia with First Nations People only 2% left
I hope Congo wins this and the settlement goes to ordinary people who are being exploited.
They don't have any merit. They have to prove that Apple or Samsung is buying directly from the rebels and funding the war.
As a Congolese, I hope they win. However, I wont be unrealistic to suggest the settlement will go to ordinary citizens, its sad. It will likely all be lost to corruption. The DRC crisis has spiked the rate of corruption in DRC which is alarming.
The saddest part is that nothing will change.
Apple decided recently to stop using Congolese mines, probably to avoid paying.
How come those mining to near death earn little ?!!! Investigate President Paul Kagame of Rwanda.
Apple is definitely to blame
Tesla needs to be sued too as well as many other Chinese electric car companies
Apple should pay & take responsibility of their supply chain!
This is the world we're living in where companies are richer than the country that produced the mineral resources. Wicked would system and other neighboring countries are helping to exploit other brotherly Country, it's so shame for Rwanda to be implicated on these lawsuits.
@@BaiSamuelkamara and Uganda, now Kenya also. Behind these countries USA, Great Britain, France...
@kirn3afekStop making false accusations. How's Kenya involved? And isn't Uganda's involvement hosting refugees and peace making? Y'all love to jump ship and start accusing everyone.
@limofootball In my comments, I don't mention Kenya and Uganda. I, I person who replied to my comment, mentioned those two countries, so let be clear to me point.
Things we need to hear
All conflict ridden countries should sue weapon manufacturers for use of their weapons in conflicts. If apple is found liable many companies maybe sued by individuals whose products are used to maim or destroy.
Thank you and bless you for being among rare human beings who are looking at the stars ,Al jazeera
I lost all my family in those wars. Only me and my brother live through it.
I’m so sorry 😞
I think this is a strong statement but they cannot win, simple. The reason, is imagine, they win, what will happen to all other European and American companies. If I was the president of Congo, I will seek diplomatic resolution comprising building factories in Congo.
@@GiZeeGis A woman is getting SA’d by multiple men, she tries to report the leader..the one who did the most damage. Then someone says hey that’s a strong accusation..what about the other guys that still want to get another turn..why can’t she find a way to allow everyone to get what they want.
You see how insane and inhumane you sound.
Even if the case is won, the Congo leaders won’t give a single dime to the supposed victims or workers. Y’all are still hypocrites.
It's sad that only 1 lawyer is standing with Congo! Justice for Congo
Finally and finally 🙏🏿🙏🏿🙏🏿
its not just Iphone.. android phones are using it.
Great interview. I learned a lot.
Wonderful, Greg!
This is a tragic situation from a humanitarian perspective. This is a much bigger problem than Apple. They have the largest financial resources and are internationally recognized. I don’t believe Apple is the primary problem. I see someone who is trying to find someone to sue.
Like he said suing Apple is not going to solve the problem, if they are successful with this law suit, where is the proceeds going, who is going to manage that. Robert sounds like a Lawyer that prey’s on taking advantage of these kind of situations, the question is what does he get out this.
This is great to see, hopefully some change and greater awareness comes out of this
It’s about time👏🏾
about time!
Are they going to sue Chinese companies as well? Pretty much all the other phones are made there with minerals from DRC
Nah it’s ok for them to do it just not Apple 😊
China is willing to pay , they talked with the government that they will pay for it at a reasonable price, European companies don't wanna pay, they cause wars , unstability and fund rabbles to steal Africa.
@@TriggaTrey361China is willing to pay , they talked with the government that they will pay for it at a reasonable price, European companies don't wanna pay, they cause wars , unstability and fund rabbles to steal Africa.
I'm guessing China is probably paying some of DRCs legal fees
@@TriggaTrey361 Did you watch the interview?? They started talking about China and the interviewer cut the interviewee short. Also Apple is being sued because it's the biggest tech supplier right now they are the example.
Half of Europe asked for apple to switch from cable type A to USBC to type C and still Apple hasn't done completely a full shipment of iPhones containing type C cable by selling through Europe
Not just apple but Chinese manufacturers as well
shut up. China doesn't force it's currency on us, or engage in military intervention on the continent like the white devils do.
Strong statement
Do black folks need to BOYCOTT APPLE??? Remember, they reported 123 billion in CASH assets last year. 1% could improve the economy of Congo for yearsssssssss to come
Why cant blacks burn down Apple shopes everywhere to force them to pay Congo for they stole?
The rwandese called m23 working for them have killed so far 18 millions why should kongolese die because of riches
Is just sad to see what is happening behind big tech and global companies 😢
We need to show this to the world more
Congo has to be organized as one to benefit as a nation, thats the starting point
Do you know the CIA?
@brungas762 taking responsibility of oneself first blaming others forever is a waste of life.
@@David-gy6fv Blaming others isn’t productive, but ignoring the role of over 120 militia groups in the DRC, many backed by foreign interests, is shortsighted. These groups exploit resources, terrorize communities, and destabilize the country. The militias must be dealt with first before the Congolese can effectively address internal governance and corruption.
Well, you have a new responsible government now with a new president; That is why you get such a positive action against Apple.
Lol, this is why my phone is a cheap Android and my computers are all old Windows machines 😂😂
This is an incredible conversation. The media has for so long depicted Africa is a very negative light...yet so much wealth continues to be stolen right under our noses. DRC is among the riches countries in Africa in terms of minerals but they have never enjoyed peace.
If they continue denying the allegations, just license the small scale miners so that every transaction is tracked.
Robert Amsterdam has made a career out of filing cases of entities in the third world
Walter Rodney explained this in his book.
Technology, never really did make life easier, just made everything worse. Its disadvantages out number its benefits by far, its not worth it these so called age of industrialization and technology, future generations will look back on this era as we look at the dark ages.
I certainly don’t condone what’s happening in DR Congo. But it is rather disingenuous to suggest the conflict started with the violence in Rwanda. No, Sirs. It started way back with the Belgian occupation of the Congo culminating in the murder and dismemberment of first black Prime Minister Patrice Lumumba in 1961. I again don’t condone what’s happening in DR Congo but, for goodness sake, let’s not paper over the issue. And the moderator is absolutely right, it’s not just Apple that are rotten here. It’s the whole industry. The Congolese cannot escape blame here. Nor we as Africans as a whole. We’ve seen videos of planes landing in the Congolese bush to pick up these minerals. CNN did a wonderful documentary years ago about the “illegal” mineral trade. So, if Apple pays then what?
Good that people are now noticing.
Lol who remembers the old nokia days when they were under scrutiny too.
The whole of Africa should sue Apple
Suing Apple before suing the corrupt politicians in the DRC is crazy work.
Good move 👏 👌🏾
Love hearing this news. It's undeniable.
Great news ever 👏🏾👏🏾
It’s about time!
Even if DRC doesn't win, the simple fact that its making international news means that something will get done.
It's a dehumanizing and heartbreaking situation! But I have to mentionne that I didn't like the way you interrope "Alain Uaykani - the Congolese journalist" at the 23:52, while he was explaining on how their minerals were exported through Rwanda.
It’s about time. Good job Congo
Way past time ⏲️
Why isn’t the Congo suing China?
There’s a deeper darker history between the US and DRC and minerals. Unfortunately you can’t find any legit info online about the true intentions behind the Dodd-Frank act of 2012. Rwanda has benefited the most from the “conflict” and is the HQ for both legal and illegal minerals-all smuggled from DRC. I spent a year between the two countries doing research on Coltan for a US group of investors, and uncovered a lot. The people of the Democratic Republic of Congo are the most misrepresented folk in Africa-thanks to western media and corrupt international NGOs.
The only thing that can be done is to stop the conflict in congo
