  • Al Jazeera’s Investigative Unit secretly films officials in Namibia demanding cash in exchange for political favours. It’s a story of how foreign companies plunder Africa’s natural resources. Using confidential documents provided to Al Jazeera by Wikileaks, . “Anatomy of a Bribe” exposes the government ministers and public officials willing to sell off Namibia’s assets in return for millions of dollars in bribes. Al Jazeera journalists spent three months undercover posing as foreign investors looking to exploit the lucrative Namibian fishing Industry. The country’s Minister of Fisheries is shown willing to use a front company to accept a $200,000 ‘donation’. Exclusive testimony from a whistleblower who worked for Iceland’s largest fishing company reveals that his employers instructed him to bribe ministers and even the president in return for fishing rights worth hundreds of millions of dollars.

My wish is that we had more people like you Stefansson, what you had
done for the Namibian people and the world at large, can not be praised
and appreciated enough. You took a stand and a decision that rarely 95%
of the people would take, you put your life on the line; all to save the
people from the dilapidated experience that these ruthless politicians
who claim to do good for the people were putting us through. I hope one
day you'll get your deserving reward for such works you had done. In
you, many people were able to retain their works and take care of their
families. What you have done is really generous and gracious, I really
wish you well and hope that you'll achieve the best health status that
you can have. I as well wish you well and hope that you'll continue at
all costs to do what's right and ethical. Thank you isn't even enough to
appreciate your efforts so I'll just no say it. Be well and do get
    better as well.

It is not only that they are exposing the fishing industry in Iceland. They are also robbing us of our fish. We have a Quota which is distributed and can be bought from other companies/people who own a quota. This has created massive corruption within the Icelandic government and it shows as the current minister of fisheries is linked to Samherji. He is the former mayor of Akureyri which is the largest seaport on the northern coast. While he was mayor he gave a tons of favours to Samherji while he was mayor. Iceland is just as corrupt as Namibia and a lot of shady stuff goes down here.

Iceland was also s colony like Namibia and we were robbed of our resources by Denmark like Namibia was robbed by Germany and Britain. This is very embarrassing for me as I'm a huge anti-imperialist but then the Samherji dickheads are just as bad as the British and other colonial powers. I feel for Namibians who do not see any of the money being made in the country because I have experienced the same thing here in Iceland. Although I'm not saying that Icelanders live in a lot of poverty. Some do but a majority get by and always have food on their table. Namibia is even more exploited than Iceland ever has. Your wealthy are literal thieves stealing from the regular Namibian and keeping him in poverty.

Being born in the same country as other people doesn't mean you're all one team. Haven't most people who have ever hurt you been from the same country?
