Big A, Little A by Crass. This version is off of the album "Best Before". Note, that I do not own the rights to this song and recommend that you do an awesome cover if you enjoy the music.
This song is so meta-punk. When I think of all the punk rock songs I've listened to for over close to 2 decades, I've never heard a song that summarizes the mentality of being a punker as much as this song.
The second half of the song describes anarchism in a way that is both true and easy to understand without it being too cliche or overbearing, over all it's a brilliant song that still rings true to this day.
I agree. This song, to me, an ageing 50-year-old punk rocker, is the kernel of my beliefs in the movement, as Joseph Rivas and Sikosoft state above. I love the early punk bands of this era, and saw many of them live in concert. Despite their squabbles (eg the Crass/Exploited schism), they were all valuable, and a lot of fun. Subvert the dominant paradigm!
The real sadness is that most of CRASS'S lyrics are still relevant in the year 2016.Will human being's never learn that slaughtering each other in the name of god is not working.BAN RELIGION NOT HERB!
Crass lyrics will always apply as we near 2023. High cost living, oppression by laws, seeking attention society, mental health, enslaved by social media and the Internet. Violence in learning institutions, the streets and crowded jails. Wars coming up until we wipe each other out then that will be the end and no more complaining about life 😂
Thanks for posting. The single sits in my parents' attic. It's been there since the 80s. Great to hear it after 30+ years! The insight of this single remains contemporary, sharp as a razor. It's nice to hear it again. I think punk music has become more relevant than ever in these modern times. Ordinary people fed up with the status quo.
Really??? That is awesome, then. That means they are honest in what they speak and do. Wish more of the musicians followed the same way. Greed is evil, share the message!
Like a deep breath of fresh air, from an era when people were capable of more than staring at small screens and regurgitating corporate propaganda like they thought of it.,and when feminists were smart and actually had a point.
yeah but I remember hearing in a documentary of Steve and Penny being pissed off about merch being sold by major labels or clothing companies and not giving them royalties. But they say it's merely principle that it's there art and it shouldn't be exploited and the fact that they could use the money to fund other musical projects. Which is reasonable cuz look at Johnny Rotten who had to do a couple butter commercials to fund a PiL album and tour due to the major labels fucking him over royalties
The only way I'd buy crass's music if all the money went to a local, civilian owned business, otherwise knowing crass's mentality they would not want someone to spend money on their work.
***** that's not necessarily true, as an anarchist it's ok to buy things because 90%+ of the world is capitalistic, sooner or later you'll buy something, also anarchist societies aren't Utopias.
DeadPistolsBrainGerms For people that actually believe this, if you want to benefit from society, (roads, means of production, luxuries like food abundance) you have to contribute to it. Go live in a mud hut in the forests if you don't like it.
SPELLING ERROR: It says " you're they only you" at the end of the video, please change to "you're the only you". One little word can change a sentence's entire powerful meaning...
This "band" only came to be because these gents realized they needed SOME type of revenue to fund their commune. We should ALL strive to be this great. #OnlyCrassIsPunkEnough
Most of the time it's the label who gets most of the money made from that album. Most musicians get paid doing concerts, and a lot of the time break even, or have enough to pay the bills. Sly Stone is fucking homeless for gods sake.
Have you ever briefed the UK minister of defense? Made him understand competence. Same day you briefed the Senator of West Virginia? After that you tried to kill as few people as possible. Side snarl//evil grin.
Brilliance!....ahead of it's time...crass.
You really can't argue with those lyrics. Hairs on my arms stand up listening to this.

Lyrics that helped me through it all, and still do

So perfectly dysfunctional , love it!! The truth !

THE BEST LYRICS EVER WRITTEN IN UK!!!

the system won, nowadays, nigh on everyone doesnt even have a drop of juice about their persona
"everybody knows that the dice are loaded" and all that. Same as it ever was.
I grew up
it won't get me.

I'm sad you have abandoned your path

Crass is so awesome. They're not a band you can truly appreciate unless you're both highly opinionated and a bit cracked in the head
They are punks who make sense. This is the most sane shit I've seen in a while!
Yeah I was never meant to bitch and moan
I'm just gonna go ahead and guess that Crass were libertarians.
Maybe you were never meant for it in the first place, and were merely a poser? Yeah..
