      @@assincock Yeah but genuine communists do not seek to take over the capitalist institutions. In the midst of WW1, anarchists and Bolsheviks made common cause around the rallying cry of ALL POWER TO THE SOVIETS! Ultimately the revolution, isolated in a devastated and backwards Russia failed, as any isolated revolution must, but the lessons remain. Capitalism once again approaches the historic crossroads, World War or World Revolution.

    • @stevepace-first8617

      @@camphor_dance Initially most anarchists allied with the Bolsheviks. The Russian revolution provides many lessons, mostly negative. Tell me the source and date of the Goldman quote. The whole experience of revolution and counter revolution does not simply mean that there can be no successful revolution, that there is an alternative path out of capitalism. The key to understanding the Russian revolution and its failure is its isolation. From the outset the Bolsheviks plainly stated that without a German revolution and beyond, they were doomed. There was no chance of building socialism in a decimated backward Russia. As the clock ticked and no extension of the revolution came, the revolutionaries grasped at straws and what emerged , a one party state directed capitalism which was palmed off by Stalin as socialism, was nothing of the sort. The essence of the revolution, which Anarchists in the main accepted, was ALL POWER TO THE WORKERS COUNCILS (soviets in Russian) and this remains the revolutionary perspective as capitalism once again demonstrates its dead end. It is more complex than Bad Lenin wanted to be dictator of Russia...

      @@stevepace-first8617 revolution offers no future either... after it there just new rulers with different model of guns. Rulers do what rulers does. So here we are, no future, or is it an other way?

    • @stevepace-first8617
      @stevepace-first8617 3 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      @@BobTarzan Its a little more complex and it takes some thinking out. The best anarchists and Marxists essentially share the same idea - the power of the workers councils. they made common cause in 1917. Obviously it all went wrong but this was not simply due to bad revolutionaries as Crass seem to maintain. There are no rulers, just instantly recallable delegates to council structures. I am not going into detail here, if you are really interested, let me know, I will elaborate. Really, this is the essential question of our time. Either we get revolution right or it looks like extinction.

    • @BobTarzan
      @BobTarzan 3 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      @@stevepace-first8617 "Obviously it all went wrong but this was not simply due to bad revolutionaries as Crass seem to maintain." It went wrong because they work with the same fundation as Capitalism. AKA Human greed, envy, quest for power etc... all the 7deadly sins and some. In Capitalism its in the open.. in communism its hidden, behind a vail of our common good. It wont die because the root is human, both in Capitalism and Communism. Both are flawed because humans are flawed, its unescapable. I have no doubt you have the best intentions with a revolution. But you cant do it alone, and I sure dont trust all of the other guys that will do the revolution.

      @@MaxG-jk8ty I dont think this "Maoist style revolution" (😂) was going on when I commented this. *Revolution* has a lot of Marxist connotations, and is usually intended to create a power vacuum where a new "revolutionary" government can take power. The protests (more specifically, the riots etc.), are Anarchist in nature (leaderless, nonhierarchichal ((which, contrary to popular beleif, "hierarchy" as such isnt actually an issue for marx)) So, while I am a pacifist much like Steve here, I'm an anarchist first and foremost, so I cant condemn much of the insurectionary activity (plus I really dont think burning down buildings counts as "violence"). I've heard lots of people talk about small businesses, but at all the protests I've been to people were only targeting (no pun intended) coporate structures (call it insurectionary urban planning) and actively called put people who were, for whatever reason, targeting small businesses (because, despite what authoritarians might say, they are important if we're trying to create a better world, among the more obvious reasons). In fact, mutual aid groups are already being set up for them.

      What you arent see though, is that punk HAS ALWAYS stood against what antifa and blm are about, they want to masquerade as counter culture, because it shows optics of them being victims, and thats the only and best way to full stupid people into believing what they believe. When they are NOTHING but neo nazis in black bloc.
      Every punk from the 80s and 90s and 2000s like me, are ashamed to even look at something like antifa and its members using our symbols to give them meaning they do not have. and no actual punk, would ever want revolution, at the cost of human life. And this is where punk has always stood against what antifa is, because they are willing to take life, in the name of their movement.
      Being anti ANY race and dehumanizing them based on skin color, is EXACTLY what the nazis did, and punk has always stood against communist dictator ships and big government control plus the use of violence for political gain.
      Thats why john lyndon was a trump supporter, he understood, that trump is a billionaire that isnt from the permanent political class, or establishment, he was an outsider, and politicians use their positions to amass wealth making them beholden to corrupt figures like george soros who was a jew that joined the nazis in persecuting his own people.
      And its no differnt then what antifa is doing now, because if you can sit there, and say so and so is evil for their skin color, then that person is NO differnt in any way, to the actual nazis, and its a testament to their mental instability that they can sit there, and judge an entire race, for nothing more then skin color.
      Personally i think steve ignorant, wherever he is, is sickened by the movement thats trying to co opt the counter culture. When literally establishment stooges like biden and bush, stand with them.
      You can be rebellion, if ou are the norm. If you are the norm, then that makes them nothing more then stormtroopers.
      So you arent wrong for being a punk in the day, i was to. And i still stand for the same things.
      But anarchy as chaos and death, is not what crass was about. They said anarchy, and peace. Which means, a peaceful world absence of any fascist control.
      Thats not what antifa and blm want, they are marxists, not punks. and they want subjugation, uprising, violent revolution, white genocide, and destruction. Nothing they are, will ever be what punk was about.
      I mean they beat on protesters who stand against vax mandates. So unless they are seriously that stupid and blind, or dont actually know what fascism is and claim ignorance because they have been twisted and fed so many lives, they can no longer recognize objective reality without losing their minds because it doesnt line up with their safety blanket reality.
      Punk has always been about brutal truth, and reality. open discourse and debate, freedom of expression, freedom of thought, will and action, tolerance for those we may not agree with, but choose to engage because all humans are wirth something to someone.
      And punk has always been about equality, not equity, which is about giving people power, and favor based on their skin color and status, while equality, is every being considered equal in society, even those you disagree with.
      So dont blame punk for antifa. none of them, or at least most, have never understood real punk lyrics in their lives. They are former hipsters, and scene emo kids, who are larping anarchist, thats why they dont actually know what any of it means.
      Because these fascists, would make any truly informed objective punk SICK.

      Now lets tell that to the violent bigot extremists now saying its fascism to be against gov mandates. And groups of radical racists that point the finger and say no its you, you are evil because you are white! Failing in everyway to see how they have already fallen into the very thing they say they are against, intolerance, white guilt, anti white racism, is just anti jewish violence of the modern day, dehumanizing an entire race because oftheir views and warped perception of reality, that has radicallized them to the point of no longer recognizing fact from propaganda. Becoming storm troopers of the very SAMME kind of fascist system that rose to power, and then put anyone they didnt like into camps.
      So what do we do with a new nazi uprising? I have NEVER believed in war or fear mongering. But if we do not put a stop to this, it will end in war. And it wont be the side with the soldiers who lose.
      I believe all humanity has a right to live, but should that include those who would us their nature given human rights to create a dehumanizing up rising, based on hate, and violence?
      Should we give them the same treatment they would give us?
      Its no ones fault they are a bunch of undisaplined, beta male rich white people, who dont know the value of a dollar, freedom, or freedom of expression because they have always had those things.
      And this why they are dangerous, because knowing they are white, and think they are speaking for black lives, that have in fact rose up to have total success in this society, they still believe they know better then people like black cops.
      Trying to tell them, what the world is doing to them, when they are the ones standing in a black cops face, calling him names. and judging him based on his race, and judging everyone, on their race..
      THAT is real racim, and their tactics of using violence and intimidation, is nothing but fascism.

    As a youth I looked to punk and eventually crass for inspiration. Later on in life I became a Marxist. This song may provoke a thought but I doubt even most anarchists would accept its message. The revolutionary rupture is the only hope humanity has. Capitalism offers no future. The only way out of capitalism is revolution. The likelihood of this being completely pacific is remote, no ruling class has simply walked away and even if a genuine working class power can establish itself, it would find itself under relentless pressure which can only be resolved by global extension of revolution.

      Meanwhile, in the world of the mentally and morally normal, ordinary people instinctively know that Marxism and fascism/Nazism are ugly sisters.
      It would help if intellectuals and academics, usually paid at public expense, knew this too. Some of them do and have assisted in suppressing the evidence. Nevertheless, I look forward to the day when we can easily and casually dismiss Marxist fruitcakes the way we dismiss National Socialist fruitcakes.

      And while you are being so normal and going by the majority, who under conditions of capitalist normality will to a very high degree accept the ideology of the ruling class, what do you think they will say about anarchists? Do you think that when the book burning and the concentration camps start to fill with marxists that the anarchists wont be sharing the same fate? The reality is that the best marxists and anarchists share most of the same ideas. I found Crass to be pretty ambiguos. On the one hand they were talking about revolution, GUNS! on the other, some sort of middle class individual lifestyle ism. No authority but your own? Well try it. Go to the shop and take what you want and need. You willsee how the system works, see its violence. Thati s what its authority rests upon Revolution is dangerous? People will die? And what about not having a revolution? What will that lead to? I think it will lead to human extinction. Capitalism offers no future. the only way out is revolution. Class war anarchists know this.
