We talk a lot about the MCU’s diminished audience and, in my opinion, a reason for this has been that some MCU movies and shows haven’t been able to age with their audience, being very silly and in same cases immature. I think a lot of the original MCU fans have migrated to more age appropriate content like House of the Dragon, The Boys, Invincible, The Last of Us, Fallout, etc. The most successful MCU project after endgame seem to be precisely the less childish ones. That's not really a change though, the MCU has never told mature stories and has always targeted towards been primarily kids/families. If anything, I respect Love and Thunder for dropping the pretenses of something like Falcon and Winter Soldier or the Russo's Cap films.
@@ashuebot-tabi4449 If you mean mature stories like rated r and more more serious stuff then mcu has done that from echo, the netflix mcu shows etc..Eternals was dark and serious and there have been other shows and movies that were serious like captain america movies, black panther, agents of shield, agent carter, helstrom, cloak and dagger etc..Deadpool and the wolverine was rated r and blade will be too.

Joan of Arc movies have been done before: in 1999 there was a movie and a mini-series. How about something new and about Black history like Haile Selassie, Emperor of Ethiopia?
When I first heard about Baz doing this film about Joan I was interested but now I think he needs to be very delicate and compassionate with this project . This girl is a Saint . She is a national hero in France . One of their most important historical figures . Probably top 5 . I would not Dare treat her visions as some form of mental illness psychosis or whatever . They were religious visions and accepted as that even if you are a flaming atheist . No need to degrade and demean such a figure of history . Remember she’s a Saint to Catholics . The actress must be Caucasian . Must be French in some way . I want to see him create a emotional exciting and visual experience of Her story and her short life on earth . I’m getting a little emotional just thinking about her and how she died and was ignored by the king she helped put in power . So I want to see this but the matter must be taken seriously .
My prediction: As long as this show is its own thing and doesn’t ruin beloved characters and storylines, straight males audience are going to receive it favorably.

It'll be incredibly tasteless for Jim Cameron to make this movie. I'm sure no Japanese actor will support this movie let alone Hiroyuki Sanada of all people. Titanic was too long ago. I think its too early for this movie. And how can anybody think Japan would even let Hollywood release this movie?? They had a lot of issues with Oppenheimer. It was eventually release but further down the line. Even though Christopher Nolan was very respectful of the situation...
"they had a lot of issues with Oppenheimer" 😂😂😂 Titanic was too long ago? 😂😂😂 I think its to early for this movie. 😂😂😂 James Cameron, who is no longer part of the core of Hollywood, will probably first have to ask the Japanese whether he can make the film. Yes, no, it’s clear. This attitude is why there are a thousand films about evil Germans and evil cracks... but no one has actually made a film of Hiroshima yet.

she’s 28, bffr
@@KevLavigne-qp5sx what's bffr?
OMG I love Joan of Arc!! The Mark Twain novel is one of my faves!! So exciting!!
Also interested in the Nolan film. But I agree with Grace that Japanese talent and experts need to be heavily involved.
I usually stay away from reviews until I have watched it myself.
I hate how apart from Ridley Scott, none of the other top-tier directors seem interested in adapting a historical epic pre-20th century, unless there's some sort of gimmick attached that makes it more "Twitter friendly". Agree with everything you said about this Joan of Arc project, even though I wasn't expecting to 😂
"it's very adult, definitely PG 13" 😂😂😂 grace thinks pg13 is adult.
in some cultures you are an adult at 13. lol
Takuya Kimura kinda resembles Tsutomu Yamaguchi in his earlier years, and he happens to be an actor too. He’s managed to maintain a pretty damn good level of popularity in Japan for decades. So I’d probably cast him.
I was lucky enough to watch the first two episodes in the movie theater. I’m still freaking out!
Dramatic much?
Nope!!!!! She’s a French historical character , pick a French actress.
It goes both ways .
I don't care how LGBT it is or not, so long as it's a funny and enjoyable.
Yep same Definitely gonna stream S01 via DPlus with open mind, just as did for Beautiful The Acolyte S01 🙂 [The Acolyte S02] 🧘♂
I always wait for a reliable opinion about a new tv show/movie before viewing it. Grace always answers the questions i have, before i ask em 😂 just the best
@@BraidyBrown it's probably a good idea to form your own opinion on whether you like something or not. Instead of waiting to see what critics on TH-cam sat before you watch it.

This will be lucky to get Acolyte’s ratings.
I'm nervous about watching Agatha . I've been struggling to sticking to shows and watching to the end recently. But I'm usually up for watching Witches theme shows. So I will give it a try.
Agatha All Along vs. The Penguin this week. The former will be laughed at and hate watched by The Fandom Menace. The Penguin will be praised like Andor.
people liked andor? news to me
@Dr.LongMonkey did people watch anodor because I guess that's penguins future
No one is watching either show.
For anyone interested in Joan of Arc, how would any new movie compare/tell a different story from The Messenger: The Story of Joan of Arc (1999)?

Haven’t Finished ‘WandaVision’ Before ‘Doctor Strange 2’? Sam Raimi Hadn’t Either
“Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness” director Raimi recently told Rolling Stone that even he did not watch all of Disney+ series “WandaVision” before helming the film follow-up (in theaters May 6) involving Wanda Maximoff aka the Scarlet Witch, played by Elizabeth Olsen. “I never even saw all of ‘WandaVision’; I’ve just seen key moments of some episodes that I was told directly impact our storyline,” Raimi said. ”I’m not really sure what the ‘WandaVision’ schedule was or how it changed. I just know that halfway, or maybe three-quarters of the way into our writing process, I’d first heard of this show they were doing and that we would have to follow it.”
Ppl will find anything to trash this show, anything, ppl are extremely divided especially when it comes to female stuff and anything even remotely having an LGBTQ character. And if they knew that problem one of their favorites movies or shows or song even common products have being done by a woman or an LGBTQ person I bet they even stop liking that thing. Humanity is in a nasty mode right now but still this show feels like the Halloween fix up that I need, this and 2 Hocus Pocus movies and the classic 80s and 90s halloween movies and im set for this month and October.
Don't have to look hard
49:59 add Grave of the fire fly to watch it if you dare 🥺
Main thing with this show will in viewers? Marvel tv shows got point where worth checking out.
Anyways i will watch this but if the ratings on this thing are horrible then i do think its really time for Disney to start pivoting ,especially with their PR. If you making shows that are clearly aggressively targeted towards females audiences and seems more then a little keen on alienating your existing fanbase ( frankly pushing PR into the world that does so rather passive aggressively) those people better show up. If they don’t perhaps its time to separate these kind of shows from said brands ( and try releasing them independently unburdened by the expectations of the brand).
Grace, may I ask that you don't talk too much about eps 3 and 4 in the review and breakdown? I found your commentary on future episodes for the acolyte, the boys and a few other things a bit too spoilery. It makes me hesitant to watch your reviews when I know you've seen more than the audience has.
Grace did a great job not spoiling today.
Isn’t it easier for you to watch reviews after you’ve watched the episodes…
@@BluePrada What I mean is it would be great if she didn't talk about future episodes in the breakdown and review of episodes 1 and 2. Of course I will watch the review after watching the episodes, but Grace has seen more episodes than we will have. I tend to find little teases and hints contain a rather high spoiler factor sometimes. I appreciate when she's really careful, but at times she does say a little too much imo. I like to go in as unbiased as possible. Like even now I already have a certain mindset knowing ep 4 is apparently not that great.
Probably a good thing . The acolyte was horrible 😂
@@freeloadingmf Episode 4 “apparently being not that great” is not a spoiler, it’s an OPINION which is what makes up reviews in general. In contrast, a spoiler is a statement that reveals PLOT details
If you “like to go in as unbiased as possible” you shouldn’t be watching reviews in the first place
Some of us like to hear other people’s opinions so we can measure our expectations and plan accordingly

I think Baz Luhrmann need to listen to one more demographic for his film- Christians.
Joan's faith was the driving force behind her entire life. Plus, a solid historical film that respects her religion will be able to tap into the Chosen and Passion moviegoers.
I don’t think he cares about that.
@regis_red then he's not the right guy for the movie.
Ed Gein was the inspiration for all the human flesh stuff in Texas Chainsaw Massacre, like he had literally decorated his house with human flesh.
I'd love to see another historical drama from James Cameron with the same scale and gravitas as Titanic. But I'll believe it when I see it, he's been so involved with Avatar. I hope he actually directs this one and doesn't just produce it.
These live streams always make my day. 😊🤗
SAME!!!!! Grace and her fan base have cultivated a really unique community. It might be my new favorite coven!?!

See Strictly Ballroom. Wacky Aussie Comedy. So much fun.
Joan of Arc movies have been done before: in 1999 there was a movie and a mini-series. How about something new and about Black history like Haile Selassie, Emperor of Ethiopia?
Would they make a movie about Ethiopia which beat the Italian colonizer twice (and even the Roman Empire)?
I'm French and I don't care if the actress playing Joan of Arc is French or has French background. I just want a good movie
It’s an American thing, Europeans really don’t care 😅
Because Agatha Harkness is such a beloved character to straight male audiences.
@@jared627 no one is gonna be worried about pandering to that group that has a problem when they see any other kind of person on screen
My question is how much did this show cost to make. It better not be another $180 million series.

Great Stuff, as always.
what happens if the atomic detonation happens off screen. & we just see the aftermath. i wonder what grace will say🤔

Marcs red carpet interviews were so cringe dog. This and the latest Pharrell Williams interview really making Variety look like tabloid clowns.

How did Chappell end up catching strays in a Grace stream 😭😭 Obviously they would not cast her? She isn’t an actress 💀
if the joan of arc movie is supposed to be historically accurate or an autobiography then jenna shouldnt play her (im a fan of hers btw)
BAZ LUH... Im good with giving names, i used to be a bullie!
Omg you can’t cast Jenna Ortega as Joan of Arc.. like really? You want to give people a reason to hate it already. Joan was a real life person. You can’t hire Tom Hanks to play Martin Luther King either.
Milia Jovovovich did a good Joan movie but the whole story is thin and ends on a down note.
I thought I was the only one who loved "The Messenger"! It gets a bad rap, but I'm not sure why
The best witch show was the American horror story coven season. As a gay dude October is such a busy month I don't even think I would have time to watch this. Pass. I might wantch a recap video.
I question if JOA is actually Jenna’s dream role or she and her team heard about it and now she is saying it to put her name out there
I think It is legit. She actually has a 2022 post on Instagram saying Joan of Arc is her dream role. But she surely had Heard about this project when she mentioned It during the Interview. I am sure Warner Will want her to audition at least. I do think her putting It out there might have hurt her chances more than helped
It's so obvious Cameron wants to be the one to make the response to Oppenheimer. I personally think the Japanese should make that film, but whatever.
*btw Grace, in respect to your issue with people repeating comments because you're not responding: my comments are only intended to be rhetorical. If only because my comments are merely me expressing my opinion based upon my own personal experience and knowledge. Not that you respond to me very often lol, I just don't want you to feel compelled or stressed to the point that you feel a need to respond. I don't want to affect/effect you that way. I know the internet cam sometimes be a pain. And I wish you all the best. I respond the way I do because I should probably be writing, instead. ❤
The Japanese did respond. It was Godzillla
There were also many serious dramas the Japanese made on the impacts of the bombings throughout the decades that were non fictional
Do we really need 5 Avatar movies ?
Yes. I'm excited. And I'm not the only one. By the numbers this is the most successful franchise of all time.

No. But as long as they make money, we will be getting them
My God, in order to have any movie Grace thinks appropriate, it has to be greenlit through ALL these special interest groups!! Talk about the most unoffensive homogenized drivel! Jeez!
So people will leave Agatha All Along alone, and it will be a failure because very few people will watch it like what happened with Acolyte which suffered from very low viewership numbers.
Grace raved about The Acolyte Witches initially too. Heterosexual men are not interested in LGBQ programming.
Nor are a lot of gay men. The activist/flamboyant type just take up all the oxygen in public discourse whereas until recently, we had better things to do.
Anyone knows the musical Grace was talking about?
Hollywood should focus on more non political movies like....Joan of Arc 😂
hopefully Ingrid Goes West is canon.
Im real confident in Penguin, "this city is mine" 😂...much more interested in that.
I like the acolyte and I grew up immersed in the prequel era and all my toys were Star Wars. I’ve seen every show and movie (even the clone wars ones lol) but the acolyte was my turning point in terms of hate and its cancellation. I’m just over Star Wars and it’s mainly because I don’t wanna watch something where I’m constantly reminded that poc aren’t welcome everytime I wanted to see what people were saying about the show.
Your standards are low. You were part of the target audience and you all showed up. But not many of you were there. That small audience can't be blamed on criticisms. Explain how bad movies/tv shows do well despite bad reviews?
@@BishopBrown-ng2nsYou mistake what I’m saying. The criticism was unfounded, it began before the show premiered. The Star Wars audience rejected the show on the premise of the actors being poc. That’s what turned me away from Star Wars. And if we’re being honest, comparatively, it was a better show than boba fett or half the mandalorian s3 and the pacing was better than Andor. The main issueI had is whatever money laundering is being done with that enormous budget. Alas, it doesn’t matter anymore. The unfairness is what turned me away and I won’t be returning for anymore films or tv as a lifelong fan. They showed me who and who is not welcome and clearly I am not.
19:13 / i looked up at my bloody 838 Wanda poster… i think she’ll be fine
Lol, so the biggest reason for straight men to watch Agatha is to objectify the characters? Think I'll pass. Not risking any harm to Wanda or her corner. I never saw Multiverse of Madness and knowing now that I dodged a bullet there doesn't make me motivated to take risks. It appears that the straight men MCU is complete and I'm fine with that.
