- 00:00A typically good episode following an overloaded, top-heavy truck nicknamed the Warthog as it creeps agonisingly slowly along 650 kilometres of boggy mud tracks in the Congo. The journey was only supposed to take a few days but the roads turn out to be much worse even than they usually are - at times the Warthog passes whole convoys of other trucks hopelessly stuck in the mire. If anyone's more worried than the driver about the state of affairs, it's probably all the passengers who have paid to travel on top of all the cargo piled high in the back of the truck. There are some sights to see on the way, such as the abandoned mine in which locals work underground with crowbars, bare hands and no safety equipment to fill bags of ore that sell for a pittance to Chinese and Indian traders. -

This narrator cracks me the hell up.these docs are awesome.i love watching them.i live in the states and I don’t drive. I dip around on a bike and sometimes I get a bit disillusioned when see all the cars zipping by my bike but then I go home and watch one of these docs and I instantly feel better about my means of getting around.

Never thought id be bingewatching these. They can teach us a thing or too about helping out eachother, no matter what. Of course bickering will happen,bur there is no violence. They inspire me. Maybe i'll finally get to know my neighbors
No violence? There's tons of violence in Congo. This is an edited documentary. You need to realize that everyone everywhere only knows or has to deal with what circumstances/ conditions put before them. Attitude is key. People always say things like "aww they still smile 🥺😥" but they are grateful for what have and don't know any better.
The way they clap at the guy getting stock at 30:06 is so universal to every country, i love it

i'm about to be a truck driver in a couple of months here in the us. Honestly watching these video make me realize that driving in the state won't be as bad compare to what they have to go through.
Keep in mind that this was filmed years ago. The miner mentioned he worked in Angola back in 96" like it was recent. Things may have improved.
Yes but he has been caught multiple times by native speakers in the comments saying he exaggerates what the ppl are saying. In one of these videos a guy said kids through rocks through his windshield putting a huge hole in it and the narrator said it was from bandits who shot out the windshield. These ppl live so roughly compared to most of us watching these videos so there really isn't the need to exaggerate that much.
@@lpe655 yes and no. I dont believe in comparing yourself to others because yes to these people back then maybe not so much now that life was totally ordinary. But it doesnt really help you or I does it. We still have problems unique to our situation so however or whatever goes on in some African hell hole is their thing.

This is a great documentary, when one complains of hardships living in the U.S. they should be reminded of people such as these that truly know struggle and hardships. The benefits are few if any at all, but they strive to make the day the best they can. Little food to none, no plastic bottles filled with drinking water to quench their thirst, no doctors, or facilities for bathing or otherwise, they are a people with unbelievable drive and give the glory to God no matter what the circumstance. This should be shown in our schools to show our children what life is in the Congo, maybe just maybe they might appreciate what they have, and they might realize the difficulties that they have are not difficulties at all. Thank you for sharing this journey ~~
Joe Neumeister well said. Our children complain about Uber eats delivering their food orders late like it’s the end of the world. This is a real struggle that our people in Africa have to face on a daily basis. I’m now more appreciative of what me and my family have. What may seem little to us, is plenty for those like in Congo and other parts of the world. Always be thankful for what you have because someone else has it worse than you.

I cannot stop watching these...lol. I can't believe the spirit of the people featured in these documentaries dude. They have impossibly hard lives but they continue on without complaints because they have no choice. Amazing.
Oh there are complaints but they are not translated 😂 I am from Tanzania and parts of their speech is in Swahili and it is very funny because we face similar problems in some parts of my country. Once it rains, you literally have to abandon your car until it either drys up, a tractor shows up or a farmer with a herd of cattle. There is a guy saying:
"shida sana shida sana" : Too much problems, too much problems
As they are told to walk while they try get the truck unstuck. He then continues
"Haya nimateso. Maisha nimateso tu": These are suffering/torments. Life is just full of suffering.

I have big respect for these people no matter how bad things get they're always smiling and here I thought that I had things bad I won't complain at all. I just wish I could visit these places the people seems so nice love their culture and determination

Watching this gave me anxiety, it was the breakdowns+ the impossible conditions+the craziness+the stupidity of the people at times a lot I felt exhausted watching this too.
I swear to God. All I watch are documentaries like these. Africa is such an incredible place.
The state of the roads (if you can call it that) is deplorable, even in ancient times you traveled faster. I feel so sorry for the drivers that have to go through there periodically
Unfortunately motorised vehicles just cut it into ruts, wheels spinning madly. Go slower is best but they don't think.
Great documentary. The people have such hard lives. They just keep going when they have nothing but themselves. It is really hard work digging through those holes. Those poor miners too. Desperately hard work being exploited for very little in return. Man. I’m not complaining about anything ever again.
Simply the best. Paying the lady that made the food was the right thing to do.

That gospel music at 13:05 was fantastic..I was moved to tears even though I didn't understand the language..I was touched..Despite the precarious situation, they were still praising GOD along the way..
Walking speed for the average person taking in consideration weight height and age is approximately 5 km/h. At 650 km that would take about 17 days.

The Congolese drivers are probably one of the most skilled in the world, it's impressive how they manage to drive overloaded trucks on the completely absent roads and still get to the destination without losing cargo and killing the passengers.

We all hope bad people meet some form of retribution .Sadly Karma too often doesn't do its job , since countless unscrupulous politicians ,generals and criminals seemingly get away scot free. You just have to dismiss Karma ,so you don't worry yourself to death.
If one believes in Karma ,you might worry yourself into some form of punishment for your bad deeds.

We adapted to getting shit done, and we did or we didn't breed... This might go far to explain the difference between industrious Japan, and sleepy "let's eat, tolog na" Philippines. For instance. I don't suppose it's anyone's fault, nor makes anyone better than anyone else. It just makes for a different people more willing to do more productive things. Or not.
