- The Cobra One Length Irons concept has gained popularity quickly with the growth, both literally and figuratively, of Bryson DeChambeau's game. He and Cobra combined to design irons with the same length in order to create a repeatable swing plane.
The Cobra RAD Speed irons are available in the One Length concept. In this video, 2nd Swing master fitter Thomas Campbell conducts Trackman Testing with Cobra RAD Speed irons to identify the benefits of Cobra One Length irons.

I have the one lengths dark speeds and absolutely love them and have been killing it!!
Love it!!
Was there a learning curve to using one length?.
Mate your swing is extraordinary 😮💨 every strike hitting same spot on the screen 💥
Yes, this is exactly what should be done for all the Cobra sets with One Length options. THANK YOU
Thank you for watching!
@@2ndswing Would be interesting to see if the gapping improves with the adjustable 3/4/5 Utility One Hybrids.
Bryson combos them as well.
Keep in mind that if you buy one length irons you should still get fitted for them. I bought f8 one lengths and had to get them lengthened to my height and swing. Reason was they were too short and I had to lean over too much. Now they’re perfectly fitted for me.
I was an early adopter of the one length clubs and I will never go back.
They for sure have benefits!
same.
Recently, I purchased a set of RADSpeed One Length and my back thanks me. Also, I have a lessor tendency to pull my 8-PW shots, thus, hitting more greens. Consistency is the selling point. The fact that I have been a Cobra fan for some time can be included as a choice factor.
I've been gaming one length irons for 30 plus years. I think there the best. Easy to control or work.
Great video. Keep it coming.👍🏌⛳🇺🇸😀
The one lengths are nice! Thank you for watching!!!
As a four or five time a year golfer, no two swings seem to be the same. Any factor that I can eliminate (ie ball position) makes playing the occasional round that much more enjoyable. I would like see you guys bring in the casual “beginner” golfer that doesn’t have perfect form or swing and fit them. Or Even get them to test some game improvement irons and give us a raw break down. Something I can relate to. Great content across the board guys!
This would definitely be good to see and learn from. Good idea!
Concept sounds great..I think swing weighting, correct lofting, correct lie angle, descent angle into greens, ball turf contact, and correct shaft are crucial factors for every player considering these irons..Fitting by top specialists only.
Fun test. Hope you can do something similar with the LTDx clubs. In your opinion would someone playing the one length need to have a faster swing?
Many thanks Thomas. That was very informative. ⛳️
Thank you for watching!
Thank you for watching!
One length hybrid 4 5 and 6 and there's your missing 7 yards carry but the accuracy gains tip the scale in favor of one length imo.
Thank you. Its nice to see an objective one-length review. I've been playing them for going on 5 years now 5-LW. This past season I played mostly with my regular irons, basically as a revisit to see if I was getting the advantages that I thought I was getting from OL. Long story short, I started missing the OL irons. So, I found a great deal on some Cobra SZ OL irons, 5-G and picked them up. I mean, I still have a set of F7 OL, but I never really liked the 5i in that set. The SZ 5i is better, but I may swap it out for a regular length 5i. I have all winter to figure it out on the SIM, so no hurry. The rest of the set is definitely in the bag.
Thank you for watching! We are glad you enjoyed! The one length irons are great for some people for sure! If you have any questions about fitting we would love to help out! Visit our website, come into our store, or give us a call!
I play Pinhawk one lengths but haven’t tried any others OL irons. Could you please elaborate on the differences between the F7’s and the SZ’s.
The issue I see with OL irons is that unless you have the high swing speed like Thomas, the gapping distances for the strong lofted 4,5,6 irons gets too close. That is where the Cobra OL hybrids come to the aid of players who want to keep to the one length concept. If the slower swing speed player isn't concerned about using variable length irons, the iron-hybrid style ( Cleveland , Wilson, Tour Edge) will give him/her the height required to get proper gapping between the fairway woods and higher lofted one length irons.
I agree and I’ll also say should get 4-5 hybrid regardless
I use to be short hitter and now hit my 7 f9 185 -190
But the 4-5 hybrid help the gappings and trajectory a lot even now
My 4-5 can go further than my 6 pure but sense it’s not all the time the 4-5 hybrid gives more consistent gap and really helps out ruff and bad spots
Playing Pinhawk Single Length for almost 2 yrs. Much lower price to try the concept. Better consistency and allows me to focus on my swing. If Mizuno or Callaway ever go Single Length, I will upgrade, until then I will not go back to Variable Length..
I currently play the Forged Tec black OL. Love the OL and game has improved particularly in the longer irons. However, I looking into going back to Mizuno with the JPX Hot Metal Pro from 7-PW and Radspeed OL from 3-6 iron as the gaping fits well, and i find the swing and set up is still the same through out. I miss the Mizuno feel.
@@francisswift1624 I agree about the buttery feel of my old MX25s. But the consistency I have with my SL / OL just out does it. 4 though LW all the same length simplified my game.
Have you tried any other brands one lengths other than Pinhawks?
@@intelligenttechnologies2476 I tried one of the Cobra sets on a simulator. I was not really impressed (they are good). It was hard to justify that high of a price for my first set of one length.
So Im going with a Radspeed One length irons but my 5,6,and 7 are going to 38.5 inches instead of 37.5 and my 8,9,P,SandL will be 36.5 inches. Just want to see how this works out. First three irons are on order. If they work out then I'll purchase the rest of them.
How did it work out?
@@Martwin1 I have the 4 to P and and 56 degree Snake bite wedge. Everything in 38.5 inches. I love them so much I got rid of my PXG 0211 irons.
I really need to get back into shape enough to play golf again. I love this game. I like both the progressive length and one length clubs. What ever is available for rent.
Fun test...200 yards out of a 7 iron???? Can we please see a "normal" golfer...cause I don't play with anyone that can hit their 7 200 yards. Please and thanks!!!
@2ndswing How about a follow up on one legth irons.
Edel Vs Wishon EQ1 Vs Cobra...
If gapping can be perfected with the one length clubs, I see absolutely no downside. Removing variables from the golf swing and making it more efficient is a giant upside. One important caveat, however, is that once you get to driver and fairway metals, you no longer have the same length club. That’s where I could see potential trouble.
Nice video. Ty for posting
Thank you for watching!
Would be cool to get a LTDX one length review/test comparison video
Appreciate the feedback, we will add one length to our list. It's not as popular but can work for some golfers - Thomas
Yup I'm hitting one length now and so is my son. I have the f9 speedback and my son is hitting forged tec
Those are both great irons!
I wish i could afford this one length set. I think they would help a ton.
Pinhawk makes a set of single length irons that are more affordable. I have had them for around 2 years and have had no problems with them. I got the 4 through lob wedge set and love them.
Nice review but something does not make sense to me. With the one-length being the same shaft length, why would your club head speed not be the same with all the irons? I noticed a 8 mph increase between the GW to the 5 Iron. Can you fix my thinking?
Thomas, as someone used to little to no offset, are there any adjustments you make to your setup or swing that help you hit clubs with more offset?
Dang!! 250 yards on a 5 iron is very impressive!
I have been thinking of going 1-length for three years, but reviews back then indicated that the longer irons had a lower ball flight, reduced descent angle, and shorter gaps between clubs. However, your test appears to indicate that these issues are gradually being eliminated. Your 1-length 5-iron shots were actually two feet higher. so I assume descent angle is also good. So I would expect Rad 1-length irons to have good stopping ability versus prior models (for longer irons). I can accept a little less carry (six yards for the 5-iron in your test) in exchange for better consistency, especially as I don't play often enough to maintain such a repeatable swing as yours.
Cobra has been working on optimizing lie angles over the years in their One Length sets to make sure height, landing angle, etc aren't compromised. Thomas' testing shows they may have found that magic formula with RAD Speed
@@2ndswing dont they now also have differing shafts through the irons too?
Its true the ball flight is low and I naturally can get the ball flight high, however, I was able to fix this by adding led tape low on the back of my 4 and 5 iron and they fly amazing now. I currently play the Forged Tec black OL, but looking at going to Radspeed OL 3-6 iron and Mizuno JPX 921 Hotmetal 7-pw in the future.
@@francisswift1624 I’ve been thinking of doing something similar, OL from 6I down and traditional lengths 7 through PW. How did it work out for you? The 923 Hot Metals and LTDx’s were what I was thinking 😎
Is there any benefit to getting a set of irons 4,5,6,7 one length and then standard 8,9,P,G ?
This is a great question! The only concern would be that your gapping and lie angles would not be consistently progressing throughout the set. But the added control of the shorter irons and the consistent swing plane in the longer irons is a solid combination to shoot for. It could likely be achieved with some tweaking to lofts and lie angles!
@@2ndswing perfect! Thanks for the help!
I just thought of the same, my two golf partners have one length and love it, but espessially the p-wedge feels awkward, and I think it is easier to chip with a shorter club as the normal p-wedge. I would also recomend the one length hybrid!
Wishon Eq one length it's easy to do that. They have identical weighted heads and varying angles. I've got 6,7,8,9 at 8 iron length then PW, GW SW at the normal variable length. Works brilliantly.
One length is tha best. 🤘🏻😎🤘🏻
Do you have them?
@@stumarston6812 I play indeed one length although a different brand. I'm gaming the Pinhawk SL. 🤘🏻😎🤘🏻
@@metalheads-golf Did it take some getting used to them?
@@stumarston6812 Absolutely nothing but I had the advantage that I was on the one length clubs within the first half year of me starting with golf.
Here the me with these clubs in action.

Interesting test, there has been in the past a sort knock on one length, but your results say they work. Your carrying a 5 iron further than I carry my driver, that sucks.................for me
Interesting to see that with the one length you swung them progressively faster 87 wedge. 90 7 iron, 95 5 iron. there is no mechanical/shaft length differenceance reason for this, so just human to try to hit a lower lofted iron harder?
I would love to hear his take on that fact too. Hope you get an answer soon. I believe one aspect might be that they have three different shafts (heavier shaft - lower swing speed)
He knows he has to swing harder because it’s less loft
what do you think of the mid 80s early 90s tommy armour one length clubs...
I think there has been advancements in technology enough to say I would be surprised if they could compete with Cobra - Thomas
@@2ndswing thanks...may all your shots go where and how you wanted them too.lolololol
Thank you for comparing the 2 Irons.
If I’d like to change the grips of the O.L. irons to other ones,
should I accept the shorter length of the shaft: 37.25, or extend to the normal one: 37.50 ?
Is there a swing difference between them ?
You won't even notice .25" of length difference
Awesome work..A+
Thanks a lot!
So I hit my PW the best and straightest. Should I one length to the length of PW?
Jw, for 5 iron, how is the ball speed 145mph when club speed is 95mph? You get 1.52 smash factor on iron?
My guess is the radar picked up club speed a little slow but always focus on ball speed that will always be accurate - Thomas
It’s not really a measure of the clubs. It is a measure of how the one length affects the swing. Makes it easier by keeping the game simple. Keeping the swings and positions the same throughout clubs with different lofts.
bobby jones played one length clubs... who would adding wt to the longer on length work out.. after all more mass means or should be longer distance correct... that is what math will tell you... so add more wt to the 5iron. 4iron. 3iron.
It will depend on how a golfer can deliver the club with more weight. I have a better time with lighter clubs as they get longer, a good example would be AMT shafts - Thomas
I’m stuck between purchasing the forged tec one length irons and the rad speed one length irons? Do you think the rad speed irons would struggle to hold greens due to the low spin numbers? I know that you’ve hit both sets of irons so I was wondering about your feedback on their ability to hold greens. Keep up the good work, great video!
Get the forged tec. Not as chunky and lofts are not as jacked. They will feel better also.
I'm intrigued by the concept, but with my swing speed I just can't afford to lose the listance of the long irons. In rick shiels video his norma gapping is 12-13 yards and in the long irons it gets down to 4 or so. Thats with his swing speed. With my 100mph, if that, I think I'll really struggle. But the one length would help with setup because I'm inconsistent and tend to chunk or thin shots because my positioning isn't right
You're not Rick Sheils though.
what happens to the one length if you are 6 4 and need longer shafts?
You would play a longer one length shaft. Most likely close to and inch longer through the set of irons
get fitted and get 1 inch added to your clubs. It will add about 5-10 additional yards, but it does not mess with the club performance. Its like hitting a 6 iron instead of a 7.
Buy the 4-5-6 one length and 7-AW in regular and you have yourself a perfect set. I have the same setup with the King forged tec and it's great.
From my higher handicapper perspective (around 20-23) I'd have to go for a OL set with a 4 iron as well. Otherwise you're going for OL purely just to be able hit a 5 and 6 a bit easier. Is that really worth the longer 8-9-PW for those two clubs?
Plus the longer irons are going to have less distance gap between them for higher handicapped slower swing speed players.
I dunno, that's what I'm thinking when I see these sets even though the concept is very interesting to me.
So that 4 iron on top is an extra cost to factor in, plus you'd maybe need a OL GW on top as well to stay consistent through the set.
Would I be better off going for a 5-PW SL and then getting a 4 and maybe 3 hybrid (Which I have a 19° in my current set and hit pretty well tbf).
Or is this the wrong way of looking at these clubs?
Why do you say not everyone should play one length?
Most golfers are taught to change the ball postion & distance from the ball, the nice thing with one length is you don't need to but it takes some getting used to. Until other manufacturers start offering one length it is still a small niche - Thomas
@@2ndswing thanks for the reply. I still think it would be best for everyone. I play with only variable length golfers and they all struggle less than I do at getting crisp contact and I can tell their set up always is changing making it harder.
Yah ive been using one length also with more consistency, you wont be hitting the ball at the exact position spot anyway chances are.. Depending on the lie on the golf courses but any consistency helps
one length squad
To all clubtesters ALWAYS indicate what shaft has been used
My only concern with the one leght set, which I have tried and it did make sense, but the longer Pitch, Gap, 9 and 8 iron gets longer which needs getting used to.
The new hybrid drivers are my style. Not as long or heavy or bulky.
Where do you play the ball
Seems Tom that hitting 7 irons is a waste of time....same length in both sets
Just to show us they are the same iron for the loft, length and lie on the 7. Conspiracy theorist will be mad without this test
140 yard gap wedge lol niceee
If you have a lot of speed these might not be the best fit as more speed with a lower lofted gap wedge will lead to pretty far distances - Thomas
@@2ndswing didn’t think about it being a long shaft at probably 44* loft
Bryson did NOT create this idea...
Did not create it but definitely was a driving force to continue to pursue one length - Thomas
@@2ndswing sure, ill give you that.
What's going on with your accent bud?
My swing speed is faster than yours and I don't reach those distances. 🤔
Having different lie angles throughout a single-length set is insane. Because the clubs are all the same length, changing the lie angle will affect ball flight for no good reason.
With a single length set, the gap wedge should feel exactly the same as the 7-iron.
Length is responsible for about 15% of carry distance. So, yes, the SL gap wedge will be a bit longer unless it was designed not to be. If there is a significant gap issue, that's on the designer and should not be there. You can fix some or all of it with loft adjustments.
Static loft changes affect dynamic loft. You want that.
It is normal to see a compression of gaps as you progress through the set, especially for slower swingers. This sometimes--for some players--make the lowest-lofted clubs less useful because you hit them all the same length. THIS IS THE CASE WITH STANDARD CLUBS, TOO.
Notice that the SL 5-iron was a little shorter and a lot more accurate. Right.
One length clubs have same lie angle and weight. It's all about easy consistent swings.
I am a 13 handicap. Struggling on hitting down with long irons so I want to try One length 🏌🏻♂️👌. Are RadSpeed / Forged tech both suitable for me?
