@@KUDRARACING My Brother, I love the video. It gave me a lot of new insight. Thank you! Can I ask where you got that cool light that spans over your work bench? I need one for my bench.
This is the first hour long, non-movie TH-cam video I've ever watched without skipping... Amazing. So, my comment with probably be proportionally long... I saw this video as I was researching upgrades for my Kraton 6S BLX I got in 2019... I have upgraded nothing so far on it. Tonight, just regular running up and down the block, my front dog bone kept popping out of the out drive. It's starting to mash up the front arm when it does as well, so I started looking for replacement parts. Now, the Kraton is my first brushless car and I've since gotten four more Arrmas (not a thing upgraded there either) and have been going back and forth on getting an 8S one, but I've now decided that I'm going to spend the money on upgrading my existing ones... The first being the Kraton. I haven't upgraded an RC car or messed with a diff since the mid 80s through 90s Tamiya cars and then my RC10GT nitro, so this video was EXTREMELY informative to me as a LOT has changed. This vid, while it will cost me money, has saved me from spending it in the wrong place. I was looking to upgrade the arms, steering knuckles, etc. I never thought to consider the out drives, gear meshing and even dog bones themselves. I subscribed several days ago and this just reaffirmed my decision to do so. Thank you again from an aging RCer!
Excellent video. I would never have shimmed a diff so tight, but I will be doing so in the future based on your considerable experience. My son and I are just getting into the 6s line, and so we appreciate people like yourself who take the time to share your experience based knowledge! We now have a Kraton, a typhon and a notorious, and if my son gets his way, an infraction is in our future. That's a lof of diffs!
Awesome little collection you have going! Almost seems never ending lol Yeah, It saves a tons of time and frustration down the road if you do it this way. Haven't had issues since...
This will be the shims as perfect as you want . Mine all fit nice and snug , barely . I bent a few shims but shoved them in anyways . Thanks for making these .
I was a bit skeptic about TIGHTENING the diffs but I decided to give it a try because I was tired of blowing the diff…. And it really works !!! I drove my exb 2 times (4 hours ) , heavy bashing, 6 packs on 6s and they survived!!! The car has full traction and no strange diff sounds … Thanks 🤩
Just picked up 2 Talions and was completely unfamiliar with the LSD. Your video helped immensely when it came time to work on them. Thanks!! You got a new subscriber. 😅
I do the same thing, I found some 0.001", 0.002," 0.005", and 0.010" shims on Amazon that can get that mesh just perfect (by feel of course). As you pointed out, it can take a few tries to get it right but, wow it does make a difference in longevity. I found if it is too tight, I'll have to take it all apart and remove metal from the diff and put new fluid in. Actually, I think it is a good idea to do this after a few packs anyways as small metal particles can destroy the gears as well. Thank you for the video, there was a lot here I did not consider.
_A truly priceless video! Thanks man!_ _Shimming correctly, along with having hypercleaned out the holes for the 4 screws that you will torq down to damn near stripper level into the housing seems to make the absolute most difference yet!_ _I brakeclean and air compressor blow out the holes, then use q-tip & isopropyl to go back and make absolute certain there is no grease that can interfear with the blue juice actually being able to set up properly!_ *_Many variables at play here, but if you act a wolf🐺, howl at the table full of parts layed out in front of you.. they will magically assemble themselves in some form of bullettproof manner!_* *_Ah Ha.. jokes aside tho.. 😅if you are methodical & meticulous while setting the autism to the side during final assembly.... Very good info in here i found this very helpfull. Ive been shimming my gears tight for a long time aswell in other trucks. i would say perfect other than one thing i would suggest. Try shimming the spider gears but dont add the fluid yet( as you will need to reopen it to remove the outdrive) then test fit the ring and pinion gears and as much of a pain as it is put the ring shims between the bearing and ring gear so that you dont have to crumple the shims jamming them in between the bearing and case. One potential work around could be to cut the shim so it can be bent open enough to fit it over the outdrive shaft between the ring gear and bearing race without pulling the outdrive out.
Thanks man. I broke a rear dog bone and ordered those vitavon driveshafts. Interesting that vitavon doesn't advertise all those features you point out. I feel like they would probably sell more if they did
Wonderful video, and so informative for a new person. Question: I just got a new Typhon TLR. I'll gust run in dirt, nothing else! What do you recommend for F,C,R diff for fluids. Thank you.
GREAT Video Brother! I have a V5. It has alot of M2C goodies on it. Basherqueen Bulk head. I use Silicone Ear plug for the Center Diff. My buddy Randy from East Tactics is another engineer with the Kraton Platform. This is one of the BEST videos I've found that fully explains how to Rebuild the Diffs'. You gave me ALOT to think about. I like the Dog Bone upgrade! 👍🏽 I'm definitely saving this video to reference to build a bullet proof Diff. I appreciate All the work you did to put this together For ALL OF US ARMA guys! Would love to Bash with you man. If your ever in Southern California, I live near Disneyland. 🤣 Anyways, God Bless you Brother!!!👍🏽🔥💪🏼🙏🏽 oh one last thing you probably already know this but, I got this tip from Randy. If you get the M2C hinge pin kit (M2C 3125 ARRMA 6S FRONT HINGE PIN SUPPORT SYSTEM V2,V3, V4, V5). Def. Not Cheap But, it acts like a force field to protect the bulk heads even if your using the stock composite bulk heads. I've landed flat on my Kraton's Face from launching it from a 5 1/2 half pipe at the skatepark, about 12 feet in the air, landed straight on its face, [I cringed 😱] and Nothing broke. But yes I agree having a aluminum metal bulk head is MUCH better than the composite stock ones. The aluminum bulk heads from Basher Queen are pretty Bad Ass! 🔥

I love all the tips thanks!!! I think that if there was no side play in diff the second shim was unnecessary and one more on input shaft would have been more ideal.. Im gonna try the 100k front 200k rear with the silicone ear plugs in center to lock it up!! Ill be trying thr vitavon cvds as well thanks for taking the time to share all your experience and saving me money with trial & error error 😂

At 57 minutes you are putting shims on the diff bearings and press the assembly in the diff housing and that seems super tight. I would be worried for those bearings to fail early, due to the stress of the shims. Aren't you experiencing bearing failures?
Great video! you are an enthusiastic enthusiast and you really give accurate information; we learn a lot of interesting things. Your channel is just perfect. Too bad your productions are not sold in my country. Sorry for my imperfect English but in any case my Kraton 6s EXb thanks you ;-) 👍

Do you recommend the same dif upgrades for the Mojave 6S? I just got back into RC (Kraton 6S EXB) after years out and so much amazing stuff available now. I think my next RC is the Mojave 6S being I already have the 6S batteries for Kraton.
You bet bro! I was building the diff for my Mojave 6s as well as for the Kraton 6s so it’s a perfect fit. The drive shafts I talk about would be for the Kraton but building the diffs would be the same for all the 6s line up
I’ve taken shims /washers in the past and tan them across a 600 grit pad in a circular motion changing the hold every minute to get shimming just right on other stuff . It works good but takes a cpl minutes . If I held it one place while doing the circular motions the thickness wouldn’t be uniform so rotating the washer is imperative .
Hey brother quick question. Will the EXB differential output drives fit in an V5/BLX stock diff? I"m going through this same process currently, I haven't converted to Full EXB Differentials yet.
Im not to sure about the which version has which. But typically the BLX has 5mm out drives and the EXB has 6mm. Maybe pull up the Arrma exploded view and see which out drives they suggest as replacements. That should tell you. If you can I would highly recommend doing the diff upgrade in the rear.
@@KUDRARACING yea definitely. I'll try that. Yea. I will eventually upgrade to the exb rear Diff for sure. Will definitely make the rig run longer with no problems in that department. Appreciate the feedback
