Also here’s a cold take: Robtop should add the ability for creators to mark levels with Epilepsy warnings. This would really help people like me who have to worry about shitty nine circles clones causing us a seizure 💀

Never expected someone with epilepsy to play GD. Wish for the best for you when it comes to epilepsy. Seizures sound really bad, and worrying about randomly getting them when trying to play a game sounds very not fun.

5:56 There is one, actually! Mechanical Showdown was changed from a feature to an epic rating after 2.1 released, when it was set as the weekly demon for the first week of 2.11.

@darksun4029 Its honestly deserved as honestly mechanical showdown still EXTREMELY holds up today. Its probaly more revolutionary levels with 2.0's limits. Its also probaly the first 2.0 level that ACTUALLY used move triggers in a proper way in 2.0 .
Sonic Wave Rebirth and Auditory Breaker were made entirely in 2.0 but released in 2.1, so I’m not sure if it counts

Hot take: Firework is a good level, I've heard people complaining about how it's boring cuz there's its greyscale, but I personally feel that the greyscale fits the level's theming and atmosphere.
This is a bit weird, but greyscale is my favorite color scheme.

Totally agree with the generation retro point. Its really not that hard after you get the beginning down, you just need to remember a few things. Do a practice run, and youll be done in no time.
Most people truly don’t use practice mode unless for demons cause they think non-demon levels are sightread-able and easy enough. So when a level that is “easy” requires practice mode, it feels unnecessary and difficult
The second half is harder than the beginning.

I don't a really think this is a hot take on the count that most people only hated the level when they saw they layout. After the project was finished, many people changed their minds after seeing how well executed it was.

I am a GR hater but I agree with that GR hot take, I just dislike it because it's in a gauntlet. I call people like that "proper" GR haters. (Term name kinda pending IDK)
Hot Take: Realism levels are good and have endless potential when it comes to deco
Custom remakes of Robtop levels using the entire song should be rated (Ex: Clubstep Full by Traso), but only once.
Robot gameplay in platformers is pretty fun actually.

Building onto that stereo extremeness hot take, people make buffs of main levels all wrong, including vortrox. The buffed version should have the same mechanics as introduced in the main level. For example, any gamemode other than ship and cube should not appear at all in stereo extremeness, or any other main level buff until you get to the level it is introduced in. Same with green orbs, black orbs, etc. there is a way to make hard gameplay without those mechanics, you just gotta be creative (which is impossible for people nowadays)
I feel like mechanics that are similar to the ones already in the level (e.g robot) and features from that update should be allowed as well, but, yeah, people really aren't creative when it comes to buffing levels
My takes in buffing levels:
Stereo Madness: 4 spikes + Straight fly
Back on Track: Yellow pad timings
Polargeist: Yellow orb timings, fakes, ship maze
Dry out: Spike timing + Straight fly
Base After Base: 4 spikes + Straight fly
Cant Let Go: Fakes + Timing + Straight fly
Jumper: Mazes

It’s really funny to compare the highest quality star rated levels (Tidal Wave, Electric Forest, Sink, etc) to Conical Depression. They are the same quality in the eyes of RobTop.

So I gonna put my hot takes here again: Grindcore music would unironically work in Geometry Dash because of it's song length and structure compare to stuff like black and death metal.
(Eg: Wormrot, Insect warfare, terrorizer, nails, pig destroyer and magrudergrind etc...)
I would disagree that grindcore music structure and length would fit for GD standard as grindcore production and mixing quality is way worse than most music used in GD (Extremely harsh and low quality sounds.) Alot of grindcore music are way too fast to even make a reasonably difficult level to make a gameplay on. Plus the genre is pretty much an acquired taste itself, which make the rating even harder to get (Let alone mentioning grindcore only work as an album.)
That being said, the nature of grindcore being an extremely chaotic, aggressive, harsh, insane and hostile music that cover gruesome and dark topics. If a grindcore music used in a level that's so over the top and insane (as long as it's NOT another generic hell or nc level) while covering extreme subject (Without stepping over the line too much) I would 100% fw it, because that's what grindcore music mostly are and I absolutely adore it. I would love seeing more extreme punk/metal music in GD levels, in grind we trust! \m/,(> .
People hate Generation Retro because it was forced to players via a gauntlet. Which makes the heat pretty reasonable tbh.

2.2 wasn’t as grand as I thought it’d be and it was kinda disappointing. All the features we got could have probably been implemented in 2-3 years, not 7. Plus, getting some of the features delayed is just dumb

0:13 i think this idea could be implemented well if it was only given to elder mods and specific mods that aren't as trusted with good levels. in fact, a new mod rank, being something like "direct mod" or something would make the situation a whole lot easier to deal with.
imo camera controls should mostly be used to reduce the number of blind jumps a level could have, and reduce the amount of screen space the ground (particularly custom ground) takes up on screen
I made a layout a while back that uses the offset trigger quite often to show things in advance, makes gameplay feel a lot smoother and gives a lot more freedom for how a level is built when you can guarantee you can use large elevation changes without anything being blind
many people only use camera controls for effect and I feel like that's just entirely the wrong approach to take with them. to me camera control feels like a QoL feature more than an effects feature
Hot take: blast processing is overrated, its so boring and the first coin is cancer to new players

Idk if this is too much of a hot take, it’s more just talking about feelings. I took a break from playing GD for like 3-4 years and then decided to come back to it in January 2024. I was one of many that fully accepted that Silent Clubstep was impossible, no matter what. When I initially came back, I learned of a “Demon List” and saw Silent Clubstep as not even number 1. It was number 3 at the time. A few weeks later, I see the level being beaten as like a regular extreme demon, people make memes out of it, I even saw people tryna make Silent Clubstep 2. The amount of change that this game went through just through the completion of that level alone just didn’t sit right with me. I know it kinda sounds like “Ooh bro’s mad that impossible level got completed ooooooh.” I’m not mad. I’m happy for everyone that conquered that monumental challenge. I think I just need a few more months to adjust. And adjust I will because I’m back to creating!
The Swing gamemode in underrated and underused. If people are careful and their swing gp is well made it can be pretty good
Click between frames isn’t a game breaking mod, it’s a game fixing mod.
Level remakes are almost always great. They celebrate moments and levels important to the community and build meaning off of a love for geometry dash
Mirror portals are underrated, especially when they sync to the music like in Theory of Everything or the first on in time machine. The only reason that people hate them is because they are sometimes used to make annoying and or unfair transitions. And I think the reverse trigger can replace it in the sync department.
My hot take is that remakes should only be rated not featured because they have no originality e.g riots demise.
Why is there a level called riot's demise anyways 💀 What if in several decades riot dies and then Riot's demise will gain a new meaning

Hot take: Hexagon force is the best robtop level, it’s fun and song is the best (2nd is geometrical dominator for same reason)
Hexagon Force was my favorite song for YEARS, even before I got the full version of the game, just listening to it on youtube because I found it in some kind of "all gd songs" video.
Now, I like DM Dokuro's Calamity music better.
Hexagon force is such a nothing burger to me. The duals and the beginning are fine. But the rest of the level is just boring, including the last duel. But that's just my opinion

With the exception of pretty much any level harder than tidal wave, clicks between frames gives a negligible advantage and therefore is not necessary. Any boost in performance seen is merely placebo effect.
This means that clicks between frames should not be banned, however at the same time people shouldn’t be pressured to use it.
2.2 is out then the channel should be called Swingvix? 🤔
Generatio Retro is a good level and deserves an epic rating.
galaxy collapse would be the best upcoming top 1 to actually fit as a top 1 if it gets re-buffed (sort of like how slaughterhouse’s ‘charm’ made it fit as the hardest level in the game)

I think that camera controls could have felt way cooler now if the lobotomy shit at the start of 2.2 didn't happen. Like after seeing 5 of those levels i started hating them so much and I think it's kind of a shame tbh.
Hot take: Some hackers end up being really influential and beneficial for the community. SpaceUK was the drive for zZoink to become the Top 1 player. Cyclic's rivalry with Riot caused Riot to become the legend he is today. While hackers are generally looked down upon, we also have to look back a bit to see their influence on the community, with a lot of it having some pretty decent outcomes.

About the first point, honestly I think that would cause the rating standards to go down, but that's good as long as the ratings above a basic rate don't. It would just allow newer creators to start without being literally impossible for them.
My Hot Take is that people shit on XO way to much. All they say is a layout without taking time to notice its an effect level made only using basic objects, and its a lot harder to do that than you think, especially all the parallax. overall its a fun and impressive level.

Robtop said that top levels are somewhat the icon for the new comers as they are very popular on yt, I think there shojld be higher standards for top levels
hot take: riot for caua is a really good level and should be atleast rated because i, personally, find the level really well decorated and it seems like a level that could be one of the best if it didnt have as many flaws as it did.
Optimization should be a much larger factor in deciding a level's rating especially if it is around easy demon level as people with low-mid end devices will want to play something that looks nice. No point in rating a level as epic or legendary if only 5% of people can play it.
expression and song representation should be more of a factor in rating than the current arbitrary "decoration standards"
many standards i feel miss the point of art lowering it to having x y or z in order to be good, when in reality each element of a piece contrabutes to its overall goal, not how technically impressive it is
also there should be a better way of sending levels than waiting 5000 years of a server to open requests and live streams
I feel like this is a hot take but I hate the whole “gd levels are entirely subjective” thing. Like, no, levels can be objectively good or bad based on their quality and originality. You can still like a bad level or dislike a good level but that doesn’t change its quality.
I feel like there's a different between someone being "objectively good" and something having a general consensus of being "good."
hot takes: the black blizzard song is SO overrated, i cant go a week without hearing someone talk about how "good it is" i personally despise this song.
also wasureta is genuinely such a good level its just how the community treats it, u cant enjoy a level without being called names like femboy, weeb etc.
at last, eternal night is the BEST top 1 by FAR, its song is good, the gameplay is awesome, and the deco is immaculate. its so sad that nobody wants to verify this cuz this would genuinely be a better top 1 then zodiac.

the majority of players in the gd community have horrendously high standards for any level they play because they only look at the top of the mill levels that everyone has played (castlemania, white space, WHAT, etc), which causes them to often shit on a level if it isn't up to their absolutely unreasonably high standards. on another note, i have noticed that many stargrinders actually seem to like... enjoy the game and dont have sky high standards
so honestly... if you lower your standards for what a good level is in your eyes, you might start appreciating a lot more levels you play and also probably just enjoy the game more.

CBF is a necessity for lower refresh rates and should be allowed. FPS bypass was allowed before it got into the game in any official manner. And if you wanna go with the argument of not all devices having a fair playing field, people who play on apple devices probably won't have access to Megahack and their allowed hacks due to how strict Apple is with apps. It's something that I'm not entirely sure they can partake in, although i might be wrong about this. Mainly because I don't know if that is the case anymore.
This whole thing just feels like a repeat of another mod that was eventually allowed by the demon list, (though i forgot the name, it just removes the two frames of click delay) but on a much larger scale.
i hate the stupid click between frames argument because it does give an advantage over vanilla and i understand the demon list banning it but also just play the game for fun and use it if you want

This will never see the light of day so im gonna say it right now I think hacking is generally good for the game every time that a hacker joins the game the skill ceiling is shattered as other players try to beat the “top player”
i agree with cheaters raising the skill ceiling, however i dont think any of that justifies:
the stolen top player status
the stolen top 1s
the stolen verifications
the stolen first victors
stealing well deserved recognition
squashing other deserving top players of their goals
misleading a whole community
making money, of which would go to other deserving people, off of a lie.
does a higher skill ceiling actually justify all the hurt and distrust to legitimate players and the damage done to the outside perception of the community as a whole?

Stereo Extremeness is basically that level you like even though it's obviously bad
Levels Need to stop being labelled as top 1 levels unless they are actually top 1 it gets annoying because it gives the community false hope that they will get a new top 1 only for it in reality to be placed in the top 10
Hot take: Demon list Mods/Players just cry about everything that change slightly the physics or (the most recent case) mods that are quiality of life like "CBF" that make posible 60 fps players be top players.
Hot take: Towerverse didn’t deserve the mythic rating. All it is is a regular platformer level, and if anything, levels like Demon park, Bloodbath, Slaughterhouse, What, Dash line, which were all revolutionary for the game

Hot take: robtop does not know how to make demons since 4% of the level in the last 30% is 20x harder than any other part of the level

split72 is INSANELY overrated. majority of her levels have extremely simple block designs and backgrounds with the excuse that its "modern". it is not modern. a level that is a good example of modern deco is acu, it has a lot of originality and the gameplay is fun. if a random unknown creator with 0 or 1 creator points made a level to the same standard as split72 did, it would 1000% not get rated.
I wouldn't call a creator that consistently gets dogpiled on "insanely overrated."
With that being said, I don't think Split is creating the levels for the Creator Points - seems like it's just for the fun of creating. A lot of Split72 levels don't get rated anyway.

Idk if this is a hot take but they should add a new difficulty called extreme, too for a insane, too easy for a demon, the best example is electrodynamix
Gameplay should be much more important when it comes to rating a level than decoration or effects, you can enjoy the visuals all you want, but to do that you need to PLAY the level, the more unpredictable, poorly structurized or just generally not fun it gets, the least you'll enjoy it.
Hot take: anybody can beat congregation with enough patience since the level is just timings
Levels like Congregation are like rhythm demon levels.
Hot take, I think that we should not have sent death threats to the mods to rate tidal wave. And I could see where rob was coming from, I mean, tidal wave is a WHOLE different level is difficulty. The game is getting too hard to even compare with when Slaughter House got rated.
The first part isn't a hot take and the last part just doesn't make sense, a level's difficulty doesn't make it not rate worthy unless it was hacked

Then, with the help of cherry team, space verifies bloodlust 2 and becomes immortalized as the verifier. Alternatively, you could just have Zoink dying from a heart attack.
