Last Train Home, a game about one of the lesser known piece of history of the Russian Civil War. Great to see you play this game, and I can't wait to see you play this gamd and I can't wait to see how this playthrough turns out.
Chechoslovakian mercenaries driving armed train through Russia to Vladivostok? Yeah, right. This has nothing to do with history. The White and Red armies depictions are false. It's just anti Russian propaganda wrapped as a game.
I adore realistic depictions of language. I’ve always found it uncanny and immersion breaking when I’m watching a movie or playing a game and the people in the country they’re in (not an English speaking country) are just completely fluent in English for like no reason at all.
Personally, I'd like to think of the fluency in English as a "translation convention," with English as the stand-in for the actual language being used. The way _The Death of Stalin_ rendered how Soviets speaking Russian would have sounded like to each other is something to keep in mind.
Who burns down their farms? A retreating army that doesn't want their enemeies pursuit be any easier, by limiting the food and comfort they can get from the area.
No. They were not retreating. The red army and secret police "VChK" terrorised the civilians and robbed everything killing ppl in case they refused to give up all. Google for "Prodrazverstka". The tactics of "burned ground" had been used in the next war - Soviet-German, in 1941-1945, when the retreating Red Army really tried to leave nothing for agressors.
It's known as scorched earth, a military tactic used all throughout history. Hearing an American, attempting to criticize Russia, really is quite hilarious, the hypocrisy, and complete misunderstanding of history, stands out like a big fat sore thumb, just walloped with a sledgehammer.
To show the full cutscene you could add a "watermark". Something as simple as "pravus" at the edge of the video will, for some reason, make youtube think that the video is different.
Thanks for putting me onto the demo. I bought the game when it came available this morning and spent most of the day playing it. Really loving it so far, can't wait to see how you do.
It is quite impressive how you can talk constantly through the whole video but its also kind of a lot. Its just a suggestion but if you slowed down a little the videos might be even better
Could one of the people Pravus assigned to work on the train when it broke down at 22:07 have been a survivalist which would have gotten him more loot when he explored the forest and the lake? Since it was pretty much in the turtorial part of the game it would have made sense to have had one.
This is a crazy as all hell, real story. My God, what these brave SOB's did was pretty bloody incredible. Its interesting to note, and the game gets this right, the White Russians also treated these guys pretty badly. Treated like shite on all sides, but went on to form their nation. Incredible.
2:31 bro literally never heard of the 'Holodomor', the Soviets were capable of doing everything revolving around war crimes to destroy their opponents...
Oh btw... you can use the "Rotate command" to turn your machinegunner when he's set up. You don't need to cancel and re-set it if you need to move the cone.
In reality, the Legion was 40k whereas the Reds were 600k. So, not exactly that small a force considering. Certainly, the Reds can't just crush them out of hand
Historically accurate, real Serbian legion "heroes" killed Czechs, not saving them. btw later 100+k soviet soldiers sacrificed themselves by pushing out nazis
Great video! Love your play style. Youre an exceptionally talented strategic player and it's great that you explain your thinking and the game mechanics in your commentary.
Love the video, but you highlighted the auhenticy of the game and that the character speaking in their authentic language, yet you overspeaking literally all dialog. Would been a nice touch just to for one example let it show during the video this authentic element, especially since you addressed it in the beginning of the video.
I am looking for videos to watch about this game to decide to buy it or not and you did a really good job explaining the mechanics of this game and convinced me to get it. Thank you
"we're not gonna have the artillery strike for very long" Gee i wonder why.... "train crashes" Oh....thats why. OH WELL this is WW1 Mother Russia, I'm sure their are some Artillery wagons sitting around SOMEWHERE.
Hey Pravus, I’ve bin playing rebel inc for a bit now but I’m still struggling with the black caves in brutal, I’m using the warlord-money strategy where I make money using charity ngos and garrison blockades, but on the black caves the insurgents spawn everywhere and seem to win every fight whether I’m using coalition or national, so do u have any advice to help?
But there's still tomorrow / Forget the sorrow / And I can be on the last train home / Watch it pass the day / As it fades away / No more time to care / No more time today
Looking forward to more of this. I loved the Demo until Moscow which I found painful to the point that it killed all desire I had to play. But I'm very keen to see you play it.
The combat is a little clunky until you get to Penza were they introduced bushes to hide in. It's still good but the bushes definitely add some scouting. Also the binocular ability that the Scout has is really really important, t you need to use that
ngl. I was going to ask to see if Pravus was going to do a playthrough of this game for us since his first video did very well from what I could see lol.
Bear this in mind when reading my review: i have a big book full of information about armoured trains including the Czeck legion and the Orlick featured here my review after watching this episode: clearly the moral compass AND history of this game was made by the director of Enemy at the Gates and Red Dawn. by which i mean Morality is holywood level black and white and History is non existent: Morality: in the first 30 minutes you get reminded at least 3 times that the REDS ARE PURE EVIL. History: You immediately lose the Orlick (Eagle) Rail Cruiser EG the train car with the big cannons which the Check Legion kept for 20 years before handing it over to the Japanese in Japanese Occupied Mancuria in 1930. Game: "the reds are evil for stealing supplies from this village and killing everybody" Also game and you: "well it's a good thing they where EVIL so we feel no guilt about stealing all the supplies from this village! very conveniently the villagers where all killed by the evil red people and we don't have to worry about the morality of leaving them to starve!" Game: look that red Russian general cannot be trusted! we must maintain neutrality tho! 5 seconds later: that evil red Russian general rams a train into yours and executed a survivor removing any reason to believe any encounter can or even should be resolved peacefully for anything other then purely pragmatic EG Non Moral reasons.
fair point but the war crimes commited durning civil war was limited only to the point so the CZSK legions could retreat to vladivostok but still you are right
@@gondorfreemanczsk7762 Bolshevik war crimes were committed due to the red army being a glorified militia with no professionalism to go around, it's main concern being keeping itself running to preserve the people's state that would bring a better future for the whole country. The murders depicted in the game are obviously a politically mitivated exaggeration
Badly - Reds kept old tzar roubles and Whites were issuing their own rouble - still Russia experienced hyperinflation in times of Civil War thus use of roubles would make game pretty complicated...
I've already seen pissed off russians complaining about this game on Steam. They were calling Czech people criminals, ungrateful swines etcetc... Great Czech game that pisses off russians? Wow, i gotta get that. :-D
I am surpried how good English dubbing that game got, it's not always standard for Czech games. Even Czech/Slovak dubbing is really good compared to some other crazy dubbings where they combine vulgar words with bookish language or half of people speak in some crazy dialect or with accent. But it makes sense when it's a Czech game. BTW, I think there were even some Poles in Czechoslovak legion in Russia.
