In all these videos on Straight Lines I have always focused on explaining the basics and then solving the questions. My way of solving question will always refer back to the basics explained previously so that students can make the connect between basics and application of them.
Let’s now start about the Straight Lines
We are already familiar about the straight Lines concept however what we know from the previous classes is very basic form of straight lines. This chapter ere from class 11th will take up advance form of straight lines and give us new way to think and work.
Lets begin Straight Lines from class 11th :
What we are going to take up will be:
Slope of a Line
When \theta is acute
When \theta is obtuse
Condition of parallelism and perpendicularity of lines in terms of their slopes
Condition of parallelism and perpendicularity of lines in terms of their slopes
Angle between two lines
If \frac{m2\ -m1}{1+m2.m1} is positive then, tan\theta will be positive and tan \varphi will be negative which means \theta will be acute and \varphi will be obtuse
If \frac{m2\ -m1}{1+m2.m1} is negative then, tan\theta will be negative and tan \varphi will be positive which means \theta will be obtuse and \varphi will be acute
In this case the acute angle between lines, is given by:
\frac{m_2\ -m_1}{1+m_2\ m_1}
