    If you read the service manual, they don't recommend you clean the oil spinner/screen every oil change. It says to clean the engine strainer screen and oil centrifugal filter every 7500 miles. Initial service also is at 600 miles or 1 month, then every 2500 miles or 6 months.

  • @Tommyvon
    @Tommyvon 5 ปีที่แล้ว +2

    Great vid thanks for posting. I do have to nit-pick.. Even with the block of wood under the side stand, theres no way the Grom is level. You'll get an inaccurate read on the dipstick and overfill. Overfilling is very bad. One of those stands you pointed out is better to use to get an accurate read. Or i just sit on the bike and reach down and read. Sucks but because the dip stick is so short, it actually matters.

    I noticed you left the sliders off, I stripped a screw on mine, two small a hex size for the size of the threaded portion, and replaced the screws that came with it with beefier larger Allen wrench size (Fastenal, tell them what it's for, heat treated). I had the dealer do the first service, before I put sliders on it, but the second I found lots of goo in the spinner, one of those pro motion gear jammers works wonders for that little plate.

    • @BlockheadMoto
      @BlockheadMoto  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yeah the sliders I actually retrofitted to fit this 2018 Grom, but they were made for a 2017 Grom. It was blocking me taking off the oil dip stick, so rather than deal w/ the headache, just removed it. I've since installed the ZabFab sub cage on the back to protect it a bit. I might get another set of sliders, we'll see!

    Manual says the first service is to be done at 600 miles* also if you're trying to learn wheelies synthetic oil might not be the best choice. Grom has a wet clutch and synthetic oil wont have as much "grab" compared to conventional oil.

    • @djohnson3678
      @djohnson3678 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      get a dirt bike , a 110 cc [ a used one ] . to learn from so you wont be upset for dropping it.
      the 110 cc has a very good amount of power for someone that is 250. i should know, lol , but i have lost
      some weight.
      if there is a MSF school near you they have a dirt bike course that you can take, that should be everyone's first
      learning experience to being on a motorized 2 wheeler.
      the firs thing most people learn on a 2 wheeler is . . . . '' balance '' . if you can control that while barely in motion
      then being on a 2 wheeler will not be to much of a problem.
      do the msf course , it will do you good. . . i promise.
      it is not just once, you can take it anytime you need the feel to learn more. . . the more the better, as everyone should.
      what would be your recommendations?starter bike for someone 6'5 250?
      first thing is, what type of field [ style ] do you prefer :
      dirt
      roadway [ cruising , touring ] [ lone wolf or passenger ]
      highway [ touring, street bike ] [ lone wolf or passenger ]
      dual [ cross country, adventure ] [ lone wolf or passenger ]
      drag racing
      merely stating that because you want to learn how to be a safe but a kool kat with knowledge of how to
      CONTROL life on 2 wheels.
      your welcome bruh

    • @davehowie03
