    Looks like the massive arc caused by the bad connection to the load caused an internal error, Device Service Required is annotated on the report when the shock was delivered.

    When a person's ECG is "flat line" it is called asystole (like when you just placed the electrodes) and NO ONE SHOULD EVER DEFIBRILLATE AN ASYSTOLE, when you move the leads to create electrical noise the reading looks like an actual ventricular fibrillation and that IS a rhythm that needs a shock as soon as possible, that's why (medically speaking) you were able to discharge the AED.
