Obviously they were very lively, but they weren't being fried, so I think the dirt itself wasn't conductive enough to trip the breaker even with the water sprayed on it.

I've been a paramedic for 27 years. That is the oldest defibrillator I've ever seen that still works.
Well to be fair it looks like it sat in storage since 1991. Thats the last time the unit was inspected. It came with everything brand new still in packaging. replacement parts, leads, electrodes, gel, a manual with full schematics and test waveforms for like every single transistor (and a military manual thats only like 5 pages lol), it also came with these funny ECG electrodes that use suction instead of adhesive.

7:34 My dad did something like this when I was a kid because the earthworms loved eating the roots of my mom's cactus plants. He just took a big extension cord and wrapped it around large barn nails, drove them into the ground on opposite sides of the garden, then sprayed the ground with water. We'd crouch down and used insulated pliers to grab them as they came out of the ground. Obviously, we made sure to wear shoes and not touch the ground with our flesh.

@@roryhennessey1983 I don't think there was enough current passing between the nails to actually trip the breaker because the worms would come out of the ground alive. Obviously they were very lively, but they weren't being fried, so I think the dirt itself wasn't conductive enough to trip the breaker even with the water sprayed on it.

@@owen-tj3yl not really. it has to do with electrical resistance. in simple terms: electricity looks for the easiest way to get from plus to minus. you can see thundderbolts branch out the way the pulse from the defibrillator would do. energy also moves in waves of different lenghts. some energy gets lost on the way from plus to minus and the worms feel these waves. they also take the simple route - they are going to the surface. this is the evidence for another rule wich we don't need for understanding the topic.
