Is it possible to just use group policy management from the domain controller? Is this the only way is by adding the GP managment feature to the central Wsus server?
Hi, the company purchases third party software and deploys in the production environment, does WSUS handle these updates as well or just the Windows update, If so, how are the updates on the third party software deployed to the client machines.
Typically, the third party will supply software to deploy the updates. Antivirus products are a typical example of this. It depends on the third party application, but many enterprise antivirus products have their own software to manage updates.
You didn't get to the part where you said you would apply a rule for superseded updates. You also specified an intranet server address in group policy, however, you chose not to download updates to server when you initially installed wsus. So Clients wouldn't find updates on your server, they would need to go to windows update site. Excellent job, I enjoy your videos.
When I pointed to the intranet server, that allows WSUS to tell the clients which updates it needs. If I download them to my server, then they are available from my server. If I don't download them to my server, they are still available from the internet. In my case, I didn't want them to be retrieved from my server, so clients will pull them from the internet.

Sounds about right. Updates take a lot of space.

Yes, you can deploy wsus while AD is still 2008 r2. This policy in Group Policy hasn't changed since Windows 2000 SP3.

Yes, you can use GP Management from the DC. I only ran it from the WSUS server to keep things simple for the video.

Usually this is a problem with the way you set up the policy. Double check those settings. Start again at about the 25 min. mark.
