My first NFL interception! 1:07:47 look at the hops then the leg power hahaha
but I actually wasnt good this game. WR Tim Smith a smart player taught me a lesson and I gave up a first down catch to him before Oilers winning field goal. Crazy game though. Our best player was Little Train James. Lionel was 5' 6" 170 beast of a football player
I was 22 years old #29 Hendy cornerback rookie year
Legendary Houston Astrodome had seen better days. It was old with horrible locker rooms and bad turf.
Both teams were dead tired week 12 beat up.

Goldenthug9 that is so cool. Thank you for sharing your accomplishments and memories. What was Don Coryell like to play for?

@@lisaandwillshauls6336 Hey ya'll how are you all doing with all this craziness! Hope all is well. Im John btw. Goldenthug was a name my then 13yr old son came up with..he's 21 now. I guess his season at Toledo is up in the air smh - he's a good player..
I loved coach Coryell--he really wanted me on the team and made it happen draft day 1985! He was a player's coach he loved us. He worried about us. I had good talks with him. Even tho I was 22 yrs old my rookie year I was really like 19 to 20. There were expectations but he made sure I was looked after. I was very capable of doing crazy, wild stuff real quick hahaha. He was fired my second year and my career was over end of my 3rd year. Short but productive. I wish we had won more games. Take good care new friends

I have often thought about the 85 season. It was the first I could really remember. As a life long Redskins fan many things stand out about that season for me. Times were simpler back then. Theismann's leg injury. My first NFL game between the falcons and the Rams. The game as well as life has changed. The speed of the game and impact of collisions are faster now. Life is precious. Two years ago I was at 20 yr college reunion at The Citadel and saw Marc Buinicoti (misspelled) fund raising. My point being is life stands by idly for no one. To be able to have a career accomplishment on tape is awesome and can be savored. I was watching Dan Fouts and Kellen Winslow on the NFL network the lost rings special. They spoke about how coach Coryell was special to them. He would give them the shirt of his back. They shared your sentiments about wishing they had won more for him especially a championship. In these crazy times we are lucky to be alive. I hope that this passes and your son gets to play his senior year and beyond. Who was your favorite teammate? Your Friend Will

Lionel James is a player who had slipped from my conscious memory until recently with some of these full game TH-cam uploads I’ve been watching. I’m a Broncos fan, so my Charger View was less than my team but more than most due to them being a division rival.
I would have only been 7 when this game happened , but I was into football early ( 5 ) and pretty aware of what was going on and who the best players were by that age.

we started defensively very bad and fired our defensive coordinator Tom Bass. The guy we hired was Dave Adolph. Old skool type and simplified the complicated Bass scheme. We played a lot better and tackled better. Both Jeff Dale #37 and I (Hendy #29) made NFL All Rookie because of coach Adolph. The one on one meetings with him gave me confidence I could play in the league. Tough loss. My first NFL interception thanks to Andrew Luck's dad. I don't have the ball my ex wife has it. But I have my first NFL td ball.

Always refreshing to watch any games pre 1994 when the score (and all the other graphics now) wasn't displayed on screen the entire time. It would be showed after scores & as they went to & came back from commercial breaks. You had to be into the game at all times or listen well to the announcers to keep up like it should always be.

I flew down to watch this game. I went to buy my ticket the day before the game and I told the ticket booth guy that I came from Toronto and I wanted a great seat so he asked me to prove it so I showed him some ID. He said this ticket is the best in the house and boy was it ever. He put me in the aisle seat with all the players wives at around the 45 yard line. The best part was that the row in front of me had 4 Oiler cheerleaders in uniform and they said that they were extra's in case of injury or sickness. I was the luckiest guy at the Astrodome that game.
