I was born in 1981 I was a teenager through the Tupac and biggie era and there's not too much I can really say that I missed because I grew up in a small little town in New Hampshire and all I listen to was Tupac I got made fun of all the time because people were listening to rock music and I was the only one listening to rap

A TH-camr read the story behind this song and said that Dre gave this beat to Snoop for the Doggy Style project but it didn't make the cut. He also gave it to Cube and it didn't make the cut. Said that Tupac came to Death Row a few years after Dre tried to work with Snoop and Cube with this beat, so Dre pulled it off the shelf to see what Tupac could do with it. The TH-camr read that Dre was blown away watching Tupac slay this beat. By the way, George Clinton, the Funk Master, and Nancy had laid their tracks at the time Dre was trying to use it for Snoop's album. But that Dre loved Tupac's version of this song.

Sorry, that's an old George Clinton Parliament Funkadelic beat from New Jersey! We have mad love for the West Coast, but that's definitely East Coast sound that we jammed to in the late 70s and 80s. My favorite 2 Pac song!!! You should listen to Funkadelic "One Nation Under A Groove". We jammed hard to that song and it got me through college in the late 70s and 80s!

In order to understand music, you have to understand culture and nuance...especially music you're not familiar with. Tupac, Dr. Dre (even Flava Flav- who was doing some of the adlibs) would have grown up being influenced by r&b, soul, and p funk music or black music. George Clinton, mr. P-funk himself, was a major influencer on music of the 70s and 80s and one of the differences between that black music back then and rap music of today is long intros and outros. Back then it was normal for songs to be long and for outros to have adlibs like this song does.

And all the big and well known rappers during that time and even now were stealing Tupac's music before he had a chance to publish them which caused him to trash albums. The stealing slowed down when he joined Death Row because Suge stomped whomever was caught stealing or leaking Tupac's music. There's a video online talking about how Suge stomped one of his producers who leaked All Eyez On Me by accident. It is said that a friend took the song from the producer's car without him knowing. And another Death Row affiliate told Suge that he heard Tupac's songs being played at the car wash before it was released. So Suge found out who did it and they stomped that person. But it was a problem that Tupac had with his music and I read that it is still going on.
