I have been watching Football for many decades now. Cristiano Ronaldo and Messi are by far the best ever. Other great players in the past had made it to the top for a couple of seasons, maybe 4 or 5 years maximum (I’m talking football legends and greats) however Ronaldo and Messi have been at the top of the football world for 15+ years. No one has ever come close to them. The two most complete players I have ever watched.
There are so many great players throughout times. It depends on their positions. Don't forget Zidane "El Maestro" was the same era as him.

Ronaldinho inspired me back in high school so much and learned so many of his tricks. many players have looked up to him and he even help mentor many other great players

Ronaldinho was just mesmerising to watch - superb tactics, unparalleled ball control (dribbling its called), situational awareness, speed and pin point kicking accuracy with crazy acceleration and ability to change direction. In form he was almost half a team all by himself - you can see clips of him getting past six defenders in a row - that is half the opposing team. Plus he was a hell of a nice guy - not a mean bone in his body - he was simply loved and adored and rightly so. There are clips where he controls really high kicks coming to him that land on the front of his shoe and simply don't bounce - from over 60 yards - that is simply crazy ball control. There are also clips of people trying to bounce a ball on their foot whilst blindfolded - really good players can do this 6 - 8 times - Ronaldinho from memory got up to almost 40! The shots were he juggles the ball - then from 30 yards kicks it against the 4 inch football net bar and it returns to him and he keeps juggling it - six times in a row look like photoshop - but they are real. In form he was the opposing teams utter nightmare!

EDIT: Watch the movie "Pele: Birth of a Legend". Its about one of the most successful Brazilian international soccer players of all time. The movie tells us that Pele brought Ginga style soccer to the international team which helped them win, NOT ONLY their first Soccer World Cup title in 1958, but again 4 years later in 1962 and 8 years after that in 1970. This also means he took part in 4 World Cups for his country and won a total of 3, 2 records that no other player has beaten in the 52 years that has passed since then. Its also just overall a very inspiring movie!

No I didn't forget these great players. There were great players in the 70s, 80s, 90s before cr7, R8 ... and bla bla bla... I'm an 80s kid so I go back to the 60s 70s 80s 90s and compare them with each other which I think were best in their positions and era. I don't go with "internet hype". There were no "internet" in my time. I'm old school. So this is my list. Yours might be different than mine which is fine. 🙂

It's easy to curve the ball from inside and outside of your foot, it depends where you hit the ball and where your foot also hits the ball. But the hard thing to do is consistently hit the target never mind scoring in the corner most times which he done brilliantly. I miss Ronaldinho 😢

I've been watching football (soccer) since 1978 and I've seen many great players but Ronaldinho is probably the most naturally talented I've seen. The only other player I would rank alongside him is Diego Maradona. Messi and Ronaldinho are great players but neither of them achieved what Maradona did in 1986 by leading a fairly average team to world cup victory largely through his own brilliance.
