- In this video drum lesson, we teach you how to play Nirvana's "Come As You Are" on your drum set by breaking it down so it is easy to understand.

"Come As You Are" Drum Lesson Breakdown - Time Stamps Included
0:24 - Break down how to play quarter notes on the crash cymbal (4 beats per measure)
0:55 - We explain how the bass beat is played almost independently of the rest of the drumming beat
1:30 - To play accents on the snare during this portion of the song means that you need to play certain beats with more force to make the sound "accent" and easy to stand out
2:15 - Stick control is important when it comes to accenting beats since the wrong technique can actually create uneven accented notes or might accent them at the wrong moment
2:54 - Once we have everything covered, we can add the bass
4:26 - Break down how to play the final fill part of the 4th measure
5:53 - We explain the "prep stroke" and a good technique I use to get my "prep stroke" just how I need it to be

I like your tutorials. I really do. I just wish you would teach people how to play the entire song rather than just a section of the song. I mean, put it in a playlist if you don't want to have a half hour video - i get it. But please teach people the entire songs. You're a very good teacher and it frustrates me so much that you're showing people the correct notes to play for the sections that you teach but there's people out there who are teaching the entire songs, buy incorrectly.
I absolutely understand why you don't want to teach the entire songs in a single video. But please teach the entire songs, and then split them up in to part 1 part 2 part 3 ect... ect... and put it in a play list.

I teach by ear. Many things I do count, it just depends on what it is, most people learn best by doing what they see their teacher do, rather than by reading music.. others learn well by reading too of course. :)

I only have a 5 piece and I can't find a 5 piece video
this video will work just as well as a 5 piece video. Anytime you see a drummer using 6 or more toms, just simply double up on your high or floor tom. you will have the same affect that way
