    Hey awesome drummers,
    Hope your all doing well at this interesting time.
    As I write this its now 8:30am on a Sunday morning. I got up super early to do some reading and yoga. Great way to start the day. The calm before the storm. (The kids waking up is the storm lol)
    How have you been doing in isolation? Well I hope.
    I have found doing daily exercise to be so helpful with staying positive. Going for walks and listening to some cool music or podcast is awesome.
    We have recently had many request for song tutorials . At DD Drums, we want to make sure we are creating content that meets your needs. Thus, if you have things in mind that you want to learn and improve on drums, please let us know.
    I can remember the first time I gave someone a drum lesson. It was around 1999. I was still in high school. In many ways it was actually more exciting helping someone else improve and get better on their instrument than focusing on just yourself. As such, a passion for teaching was born.
    We created DD Drums for the purpose of helping many drummers around the world reach their drumming goals.
    So if you have a request for some lessons/ tutorials, swing us an email and let us know what you would like to learn.
    As for now, hope you enjoy this lesson on the Nirvana classic, 'Come as You Are' by Nirvana.
    S
    Have Fun!
    If you have any request for future lessons or drum covers, please post in comments section below...
    The equipment I use:
    Drums: The drum kit I am playing here on this video is a Mapex Orion. Its a 6 piece drum kit. Tom sizes 10, 12, 14 and 16.
    Cymbals: The cymbals are all Zildjian: A series...
    Moongel: I am a fan of moongel on all the drums. It dampens the sound and makes it more punchy... If you have a problem with overtones, definitely give it a try...
    Microphones: I use Audix microphones
    Bass Drum Pedal: The pedal used here is an Axis longboard.
    Recording Software: Cubase Elements 10

    Thank you again for your videos! We love purchasing your sheet music for my daughter who is a beginner, and she watches your tutorials religiously! They are SO HELPFUL! Your breakdown of each part along with your sheet music makes it easy for her to learn.
    She decided to play your version of this song for her upcoming talent show.
    Do you by chance have a video of your full song cover showing where all the different parts go? No worries if not. She just wanted to make sure she was playing bridge and 2nd chorus / outro part at the end correctly.
    She’s practicing along to Musora’s full and drumless tracks, but she prefers your version of the sheet music to theirs. Thanks again for everything!

    Your videos are great! I have watched a lot of drumming videos on YT and I honestly believe yours are the best - the way you slow it down, have the sheet music while you play, the counting and everything. Nice and easy to follow for a beginner like me.

    • @rockyvsrambo82
      @rockyvsrambo82  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yes, great question... There are a few options...
      2 x high tom, 1 x floor tom...
      1 x high tom and 2 x floor tom...
      1 x high tom, 1 x floor tom, 1x bass drum...
      Thanks for the great question...

    Really appreciate this video, but one thing - Verse B 1:30 - Now as a complete beginner, I totally understood your explanation and got to grips with the beat after a few minutes and was happy with myself, UNTIL I noticed you are also pedaling the hi-hat (not sure of the term) which you never mention. Suddenly trying to co-ordinate that argh absolute nightmare, seems like the hardest thing in the world and yet not mentioned unless I'm missing something?!

    • @rockyvsrambo82
      @rockyvsrambo82  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yes, I know exactly what you are talking about... Coordinating with the left foot is a SUPER CHALLENGE!!
      But, its not necessary to play this song... Its really not...
      If you are going to add he High Hat on the left foot, here is my tip...
      Start SIMPLE and start SLOW...
      In other words, pick out the really easy rock beat and play it on the ride...
      1 and 2 and 3 and 4 and...
      Try and add the left foot on the 1,2,3,4 counts....
      Any way, I will definetely make a lesson for this idea...
      All the best!!

    I have just started teaching myself drums, do I need to learn music reading?

    • @rockyvsrambo82
      @rockyvsrambo82  4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Hi there. The short answer no. There are many great drummers who never learn how to read.
      However, I think if you do learn to read, you may find it easy and advantageous.
      Personally, I love reading drum music as I can learn from the hundreds of drum books out there.

    I don’t have one of those symbol things so would it sound ok if I just played it on the hihat instead

    • @rockyvsrambo82
      @rockyvsrambo82  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yes absolutely it would be fine... This happens many times with drummers, where they have to play parts of a song with the drums and cymbals they do actually have... Great question and keep up the great work!

      Just try practising putting the High Hat foot on the 1,2,3,4 as much as you can. The more practise, the better it gets...
