When you said, “I watch her videos just because I like her. I just like her!” I feel similarly about Hannah Louise Poston. I don’t do my makeup the way she does it AT ALL, although I do think it looks beautiful on her. I just think she is interesting and has a unique perspective on makeup and collection curation. I find that I agree with her on things I hadn’t even really thought about! Also, the Tati rant was an unexpected treat and I’m glad you went with it and followed it to completion in this video!

I change my mind constantly on products. I try not to declutter so often, as a result. I will go back and forth on products. I gave away my Tati Beauty palette. It wasn’t because I didn’t like it. I believe it was the size of the palette. I find that I don’t use super large palettes. I also don’t use mini palettes, either. 10-15 is the ideal size for me. I must be Goldilocks.

100% agree about cloud paint. A year ago, it was my favorite. Now, it’s too fussy and I’ve realized the the height of luxury, for me, is a pot of cream blush. I don’t want a squeezy tube or a doe foot anymore,
even if it’s a good formula.

I was actually wondering if Tati would change her style considering everybody’s going for a much more natural look nowadays but she doesn’t have a natural bone in her body. Glad to hear you mentioned her filter, so many people seem to be scared to bring it up. I’m also watching though, because it’s actually nice to have her back. I think the whole Covid situation has made certain things less important and I consider her entertainment and nothing else.

I love this video! I love it when people change their minds and explain why!! We’re human, we grow and change and it’s beautiful!! Thanks Kackie! I’d say the beauty thing I’ve really changed my mind about is fuller coverage makeup. I tried it when I was really young, think like 14, and because I didn’t know how to use it, or how to find suggestions/recommendations, everything was cakey, heavy and dried my skin out. So I turned away and never looked back, until recently. I love a “natural” look, but I have so much redness in my skin, I can’t use just a tint or a bb cream and cancel out that redness. So it’s a huge thing with the green concealer, regular concealer in more concentrated areas, etc. and I’m over it. I just bought the Dior face and body to try out, because really, a full coverage base has to look better than a million layers of concealer and bb creams or light coverage foundations.

I feel like I changed my mind on a lot of things...
I used to be aaaaaall about that major high coverage matte foundation despite the fact that my skin is kinda okay looking. I just had to cover it up. You could pry Estee Lauder Double Wear out of my cold, dead hands.
Now, I have completely flipped preferences - Make Up For Ever Water Blend foundation changed everything. I don't think anyone could convince me to put DW on my face again.
I was also seriously nervous about cream blushes. I thought they were only for dry skin and would sink into every pore on my face. Fenty Beauty cream blushes changed my mind, and the Melt cream blushes are my favourite product release in the past year.
I also remember thinking those tiny little brow ink pens were just the most ridiculous things ever, and I couldn't understand the whole soap brow thing. But I think almost everyone can agree it's definitely a flattering look on a lot of people now.
Interesting to think about the way things are going to swing in the next year...

Loved this and I appreciated your thoughts on cloud paint-- it does the same for me! I feel like my skin just eats it up and then I actually look like I have almost nothing on, but people always about how pigmented/long-wearing it is. I've been debating getting a different color because I thought maybe the issue was specific to puff (the only one I have), but maybe not!

I feel like the Glossier Cloud paint is not advertised correctly- they say it’s the easiest blush but I find it hard to control the amount and application without it getting patchy. Powder blush or potted cream blush is much more user friendly.

I totally concur on the sensitivity issues associated with ‘clean’ or ‘botanical’ ingredients. Everyone’s skin is DIFFERENT and botanical ingredients can be astringent and/or irritating, as can those ingredients deemed‘ artificial’. There’s some REALLY GOOD clean-ish makeup/skin care brands like Farmacy that really do perform. There’s others that ONLY exist to be ‘clean’ , and the PERFORMANCE is NOT THERE. FUNCTION is really the thing that matters to me, REGARDLESS of what I pay for it. That said there’s a lot of TOXIC INGREDIENTS that NEED to GO, and in if companies can’t make a product WITHOUT it. then they SHOULDN’T.

I just realised that you have been my biggest influence on complexion products. You said in one video: "if you need something to slap on your face on the way to pick up your kid from school, go for the Kosas". And that is why I loooove the Kosas oil pigment. I also bought the ilia foundation: I love it. I love how it wears in, my skin looks better at the end of the day than with the Pat McGrath foundation (for example). So, thank you. And also thank you for addressing your change of heart with products.

I always side-eyed Tati because of how close she was a. with J* despite how racist and vile he was, b. one of the bgs who exoticized Asian Beauty makeup, and c. a spreader of pseudoscience. the nail in the coffin was the infamous “Bye Sister” video where she only talked about James Charles because he took a sponsorship from a rival vitamin brand. of course no one is perfect, I don’t judge anyone who watches her, and I don’t think she’s a terrible person, I just can’t get behind supporting her.

I still feel that the Ilia foundation is the “prettiest” one I own, meaning it makes my skin color/radiance the most natural and yet covered. The key word is “serum”-so as an oily skin type, I don’t use anything underneath and it’s perfect. And it’s best to go darker if between shades, and then it doesn’t show pores/flakes at all (I have both).

  • @sunshineliz5297
    @sunshineliz5297 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

Ok a couple things.. 1- your complexion makeup looks sooo good. 2- Kosas rocks but not that oil thing 3- that Ilia foundation was a no go for me either. I did the clean routine 2019 with you and purged everything and also learned a lot. Mostly, it’s just not as performing but still do like lots of cleaner stuff without essential oils. Body sauce, can’t stop won’t stop 🤣

So on point with the issues with that ilia serum foundation. I do still love it but only wear it when my skin is in that “perfect” condition for it! I have one foundation for every condition of my skin because it changes so dang much.

The ones I'm referring to mostly are the Ilia foundation/concealer and that Glossier cloud paint.. It always drove me nuts that everyone loved the paints and time and time again, they just didn't do it for me sis!

Low Coverage Fluid Foundations like the Kosa’s or Vapour ones just remind me of when it’s so hot, your foundation starts melting off and there’s just this “Foundation Residue” left on your face. I think I’ve tried to use the Vapour Beauty Velvet Glow foundation 4 or 5 times, NEVER got it to work with any other products, and now I barely even glance at it… these products are WAY too expensive to land that fate.

Most of the products I end up changing my mind on are concealers. My hope is to get my acne under control and just stop wearing base makeup all together haha. FAB Bendy Avocado and Glossier Stretch are the big two I can think of that I no longer like. Also the Kosas concealer, but I decided pretty quickly that I actually didn’t like that one.
Ah, I feel so hurt by the cloud paints haha. I bought them the day they came out, and still wear them almost every day. They just do it for me man, I feel like I don’t have to try anything else
