as someone who is lighter than most Asian brand's lightest foundation shades (and not albino) that sort of lavender color of the YSL blush does actually work really well on me
It's about the placement of this type of light blushes. The lilac one was actually the first shade that was sold out in Asia. People like putting a white base light pink/lilac shade to brighten the area under eye bags/between nose and apple of the cheek. The little triangle area, maybe a bit on the wrinkle on the sides of your nose as well. This makes for a brighter youthful look that kind of plumps up the cheeks ans brighten the yellow-y complexion so that you can put a more cool tone pink color on top. Or you can layer a more colorful shade on the apple of your cheeks. So this is used more for layering unless it's for suuuuuper pale skin.
Mentally I put lilac blush in the same category as saffron blush; awesome for the few that it works on straight-up but strictly a mixer for everybody else. It’s a shade I see more as a primer or color corrector even in Asian cosmetics.
Girl the purple will be very hard for you to get to work. Its for cool toned, super pale skin. Like Teresa is Dead and I are the target audience, and she describes herself as uncooked chicken. Everything I wear pulls orange, so I gotta over balance to cool when I want a cool toned look
I totally disagree! I have self tanned skin and I love love LOVEEEEEE using the light purple as a “matte” highlight on my cheeks! Makes my cheeks appear higher on my face, ABSELUTELY stunning on tanned skin! It’s my FAVORITE PRODUCT this year, I’ve already re bought it once 🤩 I just think people dont know how to work the product. Its an extremely misunderstood product 😭
I’m paler and much cooler toned than you and couldn’t make that YSL blush work as blush, but am liking it as an eye primer especially for cooler shadows since most eye primers are beige enough to look like a color choice on me
I use the light lilac shade as a blush base to create a watercolor effect and as a brightener under my eyes. I have a fair cool olive undertone though.
These colors just aren't for you, but for very cool toned people, and for desatured olive people or with grey skin. Everything looks orange on me, everything, even those wild pink blushes like thrill, lmao, so if I want pink, I need lilac, otherwise I look like sick orange, or way too warm coral. There's actually a big population of people who need those colors. American market isn't the biggest or universal. Honestly, in terms of colors, you look good. I get maybe it's cakey in terms of not so great for you products, but colorwise, I think you can pull it off totally if you wish to experiment more with better products.
I love your videos, first and foremost, and I will die on this hill, lol - So, I am very fair, and not even the fairest I think, and that purple blush from YSL has been a godsend. It’s a beautiful blush and a beautiful mixer to make blushes I love but pull too orange or stark on me more wearable, it’s a great base blush to bridge the gap of colors, etc. and being talked about like I’m an alien or there is no way someone could be “pale” enough to have that color work “even in Asia”, is pretty crappy and aggressive language. We would never do that referring to our darkest complected fellow makeup lovers. So maybe just some awareness is helpful. I say this mainly bc I have a dear friend who is very sensitive to this and triggered by this particular issue, and I want to help you and others be aware. Love you ❤️ and remember, sometimes things won’t work on you, even though you’re Caucasian and that is okay, maybe they weren’t made for exactly you. (Also, yes, I totally agree that YSL BOTCHED the promotion for this product. So dumb. But we can all use common sense when looking at a product, lol. Even if ysl thinks we can’t!)
I can usually focus on work while listening to TH-cam, but Kack you are an exception. I need all my brain cells to follow your chaos and Excal isn’t having that. You’re always such a delight
I actually love using Peau de Peony as a blush topper, not so much a highlighter. I just pop it on top of blush with my finger and it brings my cheeks to life without being glittery. But I've never applied it with anything other than my finger. The thought of that kind of terrifies me! I am super pale, but pinker than you are, so the shade is more natural on me. But Peau de Peche might work for you in that way?
We hit capacity on your full beat 😂, and we appreciate your work and troubleshooting! Gorgeous and engaging as always, Kackie. I also love hearing about you and your kid being besties. ❤ We all need amazing robes!
If you learn makeup. And your teacher gives you a pop-quiz. Hands you a model. At a makeup brand you have "Not " used yet. Then gives you 30 minutes to do something. This thinking happens. All the time to makeup students.........The horrible memories of beauty.
Thank you, Kackie.. for making my eyes see colors, the way they truly are! The world of shades & tones is so interesting! 😊👏🏻🎨 Do you get a peel done in office or do you do it at home? If so, can you recommend a product? Michelle Spieler did a video on one... I'm researching!❤️🥰💄💋👑
Judging from the comments, I think that blush is for the fair olive and only the fair olive. I am medium-deep olive, and wondering if that orange-green shades are things I might want to experiment with as things either go orange on me or don't show up. I might have a play with the LYS bronzer on my next Sephora trip. I really enjoyed this, and was wondering if anyone else was seeing Rosie Alice Huntington-Whiteley-esque toward the end? Just me?
Maybe you could add a shot of your phone camera that better shows how it looks in real life, so we could have a better ideia when u say oh this didn’t look good irl, because in the video as is it does look good

Ysl foundation and blush are fantastic formulas. Get tons of compliments when I wear.
That YSL blush made me look like a corpse. I’m glad to read the comments that it does work for other people. There’s a lid for every pot.

Me too!
Are you olive? I think if you are olive and cool leaning everything turns orange, warm leaning everything turns pink.
