I recently bought exactly identical Avalon same XLE package, enjoy it, beautiful car, love it! Has enough horsepower, spacious, reliable and great on gas I get 25 mpg in city and 32mpg on highway with cruise control
A somewhat unique feature in Toyota is "DRL OFF". Honda and many others now have, "Forced Lighting". You cannot control lights. With Toyota, the driver has total control of the lighting. With other manufacturers, someone in Tokyo or Detroit has made that decision for you. It's nice to be able to turn off the daytime running lights if you are waiting for someone at night or perhaps you go to a drive-in movie. I think the front grill is, "too much" but I will get over it in order to have a proper light switch. I honestly can't see the need for the paddle shifters. It seems like something only a teenager would really like. Having said this, the ability for the driver to control lights is important to me and this vehicle looks very promising. As with most other cars nowadays, it does prevent the passenger from typing on the navigation system while the vehicle is in motion. As many know, this defect is easily corrected by a device made by Prestigious Society. I never type on my navigation system while driving if I'm alone in the car. But if I have someone with me, the passenger can do it.
well yeah it's nice to have that drl off option, but I think it's required by law I think to have running lights so that's probably why honda doesn't provide that option. but what I usually do is (for honda vehicles atleast) just park with the parking brake on. since the drls Don't engage on honda vehicles until the parking brake is off or you shifted into gear.
It's all about safety. It's intended to stop the driver from typing while driving, very much like texting while driving. It's smart thinking, and I can't fault them for that. If you really want to make changes, simply pull over. Be safe.
Liger, Locking out the navigation system is VERY dangerous. It FORCES the driver to do unnecessary maneuvering. People are pulling off the freeway, stopping in the breakdown lane. All when the PASSENGER can do this in complete safety. Not all cars have this dangerous feature. Honda, Mercedes and others do not lock out the NAV system at all. For other vehicles there are aftermarket solutions that will allow the passenger to have control.
SatelliteGalaxy, I totally understand the frustration that comes with options graying out on you when you need to do it very quickly without interruptions; I was so frustrated the first time it happened to me, but then I decided to approach the experience from a positive perspective. We've got to realize that no one system has it all. What they deny you, another product offers. Likewise, what that other product denies you, you get in the another product. No matter what option you have, don't let anything take away your safety consciousness.
I checked these out on ebay and the owners put 250,000 mi. on them and are still happy. Revving it up made no sense but otherwise a good review. Should have test drove it for us. Hondas hood opener is a rod to hold it open.
I have to have a Toyota Avalon a semi destroyed it, but this is the car I want an XLE, I drive everywhere and I like the Avalon better then any other car. I know this is the last year they are making the Avalon but it has the 6 hp and basically everything I want in a car, I never used the heated seats but it is there. I like the Toyota better then my friends Lexus
Trapped in the trunk 🤔?! Damn, this car is no use to my mafia business! Just when I thought for a sec.that I might want this car! But no,I ain't gonna risk my business 😎!
I was going to buy one. I test drove it and it was sooooo fucking greatt. It drives amazingly. But the dealer was a little sketchy and we didnt trust him lol. But I love Avalons.
If I was 18 I absolutely would have loved this car. I drove one when I was 18 and worked at a dealership, and it was amazing. I ended up buying an unreliable sports car when I should have just got an Avalon.
I'm sure there are options, but I'm a bit surprised that for an XLE there aren't any driver tech features like adaptive cruise, lane departure warning or assist, not even parking sensor, standard. I'm sure the limited should have them though or at least offer them, but for Toyota's largest vehicle, it would be nice to add some to the XLE.
I think the reason why people think it looks a lot like the Camry is because they share the same design for their turn signal lights on the front. I am not a fan of this myself, IMO they should have kept the fog lights from the earlier models. Otherwise, the car is fantastic, I own a 2014 Avalon and I'd upgrade to a 2017 Limited if I can, any day!
Great in-depth review! 👍🏾! So I am 6’4 and wanting to purchase the 2016 Avalon hybrid XLE PLUS but I am concerned about the room for my long legs especially during long rides! So I was wondering if it’s spacious and roomy for a tall driver like me? And is it a good idea to buy it? I need your help! Please and thank you! @MikesCarInfo
Mike does 2016 Toyota Avalon XLE have cooled seats? And is the CD player just a single CD player or is it a stackable ? And the spare tire is a full size right?
Can anyone please tell me the difference on features and everything between 2013-2018 toyota avalon?I saw one avalon with a cooling seat too I dont see such in this case😐
Mike can yo help me. Very upset on some of the 2016 Avalons features. 1 ]no manual control over the rear view mirror, want to dimmit in various conditions and override the automatic. Any ideas? 2] Automatic windows too sensitive up and down with just a touch, too hard to sett as you want. 3] Trunk, if you forget to lock your doors anyone can open the trunk with the button under the trunk lid. This is very poor design. I know can lock from the glove compartment. However if you forget to lock car doors anyone can open the glove compartment and disable...Too much to do. Any ideas? Thanks
The sensor for the auto-dim mirror is on the back of the mirror... you can cover it with tape or something and it will keep the mirror dimmed even during the day. Window switch can be a pain but it takes some getting used to. Nothing you can do about the trunk that is the way most new cars are.
Thanks Mike..appreciate your prompt reply. Too bad on the trunk. I know you can override by switch in glove compartment but of no use if car left open...Can Toyota disable this? About the mirror...what do you think about replacing it with the standard one. I don't need the garage opener or the compass...?Thanks again Mike...
All the Toyotas I have owned have been great! I am just disapointed the the seats are not ventilated! living in Phoenix and it being 110 today I do wish Toyota think about all of us in hot weather areas! or have the option of cloth seats instead of leather. and give the cows a break. I really want a new car, but all is out there is leather. and GM only knows the color black. How strange. Thank you. John Mustitch, Phoenix
I think it’s crazy that anyone would want cloth seats over leather. If i’m buying a luxury car like the avalon it damn sure better have leather seats as standard.
@MikeCarInfo Which car would you choose 2016 Nissan Maxima, 2016 Toyota Avalon, 2016 Chevy Impala, 2016 Dodge Charger or 2016 Kia Cadenza. I like the Maxims Interior and bold look but not a fan of CVT's. I like the Avalon reliability, I like the Impala trunk space and interior space, Charger I like the Engine Power and classic look, and the Cadenza luxury car features and look.
+MikesCarInfo, Lol! You're so right!! All my female family members are great rear seat drivers. I don't care how good a driver you are; they can beat you to applying the brakes any time, any day..., all from the rear seat. Lol!
Hi Laurie... I just wanted you to know that you paid the dealership a lot of money to show you and teach you the features of your new car. If they did not teach you how to use your car then they ripped you off. If you have remote start then you push the lock button twice then hold it on the third press and the vehicle will start.
I'm 6 feet tall and there is not enough legroom in the front seat even with the seat moved all the way back. Nice car, but why do they have to get cheap with front legroom? In fact, even the Toyota SUVs are not generous enough here for me for front seat leg room.
my husband is 6'5" and I'm 5'10" and we have plenty of room leg and head room. What year do you have? We have the 17 so maybe that contributes to the leg room...idk but sorry to hear you didn't have the room
The head room is not impressive. My head hit the ceiling when I turned around to look out the rear window. I am of average height and don't want to put the seat all the way down because my legs would be at an awkward angle on the brake and gas. All the Avalons I sat in had a moon roof which limits heard room. That is not a problem on the Ford Fusion even with the moon roof. I like this car because of the engine, ride and quality. I will try one this week without the moon roof. I was surprised that a remote starter is not included in a car over thirty thousand dollars.
I bought one today 100 000 miles smells wonderful for 16k first time buyer toyota dealer 2 year warranty super happpy

i have a 2015...the value is unmatched.
I feel a lot of ego driving my avalon because it's so rare. Even though it's 10 years old.
