That's why I still go to my local kirana for ration and Arun bhaiya on the thela for my groceries !! My father worked 10 hours a day on an average and still had time to go out to buy ration and groceries so why not me ?! 😂
Plus too much convenience is NEVER good for the health. I also don't see a lot of benefits of quick commerce as ultimately my costs (for ration and groceries) hardly differ by much if I'm buying from the so called quick commerce websites visa vi my local kirana store/grocery thela.
I did an experiment this August/September where I just ordered in every single item from various quick commerce apps. I actually ended up paying 750-1000 rps more than what I used to spend from my local grocery thela and kirana.
My average ration spend from Jan to July was 6000-6500 rps monthly for ration/groceries for a single person (I live alone)
I actually ended up paying atleast 7000 for both Aug and September where in I bought everything ration/grocery related online. That was a revelation for me !!

By the time this euphoria ends the stores will close, then we will have these online platforms monopoly.
The only hope I see is that of ONDC which will enable the small players to fight the big sharks.
The government should increase the investment in ONDC

      Monthly validity -199₹
      Only 1GB internet -298₹.
      Local call & STD call- 1 ₹ &2₹.
      Sms 1₹.
      Talktime 100-100-100.=300.
Tab har month almost 800-900 per month spend hota tha...now compare 2007-08 ka 900 to 2024 ka 900 by adjusting inflation. It would be 3000₹ now.
For 3G speed we have to spend 1000 per month. Now we spend 250₹ per month for 4/5G network with 1 gb per day. All thanks to Mukesh Ambani and jio.

We’d like to bring attention to a pricing scam affecting consumers and local stores. Many Amazon sellers are artificially inflating MRPs, making discounts look bigger than they are, misleading buyers and putting pressure on small businesses. Local stores offer genuine prices and transparency, but these tactics are drawing customers away.
We believe it’s time to raise awareness about this issue to protect consumers and support fair trade. Thanks for considering this story!

Kirana stores have to up their game , they don't give discounts, they don't give GST bills, they charge MRP and pocket the taxes paid by consumers. If they don't evolve obviously they will perish. Traditional retail has to evolve to get at par with quick commerce. If the consumer gets a better pricing the consumer is even ready to buy directly from the manufacturer because India is a very price sensetive market don't blame predatory pricing for it. Quick commerce provides what consumers want at the price they want which offline stores often fail to provide. Most Offline stores are not customer oriented and can never offer the experience the consumer has now become used to. In the future even unbranded products will also move away from offline stores if they don't offer what consumer wants. There is no turning back now , it is the offline stores who have to catch up now.

The rise of quick commerce is turning into a curse for the Indian economy. Currently, deep discounts are celebrated as "disruption," but they’re largely driven by private equity funds that create an uneven playing field. This trend disadvantages many, leads to job losses, and concentrates wealth in the hands of a few, which is ultimately harmful to society. Without government intervention to ensure fair competition, the negative impacts will continue unchecked.
The government should consider implementing a "15:15:60" market share structure to regulate business control: allowing only 15% of any sector to be controlled by corporations, another 15% by local organized businesses, and reserving the remaining 60% for independent local businesses. Without such measures, initiatives like Mudra loans will have limited effect, as local businesses will struggle to compete and face high financial risks due to deep discounting by large firms. Additionally, the government should place some restrictions on corporations promoting direct-to-consumer models to a large extent, as these practices can become inherently anti-innovative.

actually these experts are themselves contradicting the facts..they are focusing on emotional connect with customers but they must be aware that the customer priortises price over emotions thats why old shops who had emotional connect with customer and gave credit still failed to withstand in front of price game ..emotional connect relations all gone in vain...i too was in electrical retail business , tried my best to keep customers happy and i too gave return and replacement facility but still customers preferred to go online bacause my wholesale purchase price was still higher than online retail price...dont belive in margins told in this video kiranas have good margins
the real culprit missing in the discussion is the manufactuer who gives bulk discounts to these quick comm and ecomm.. they should be punshed for predatory pricing rather than quick commerce.

Along with Q Commerce, increasing rental costs, electricity costs, fuel cost and inability of kirana stores to store huge stock of goods ( bulk quantities can help kirana stores buy at discount) plus quality issues of kirana are main culprits
Also Q Commerce stores are offering similar credits like kirana , like buy now pay later to credit card schemes

I still prefer good old DMart. These quick commerce companies are flush with cash now and hence they are able to garner market share. It won't go on forever. As their costs keep rising, they will start charging fees for every minute service they give and that will spell the death knell for these companies.
The DMarts and the Reliance Retails of the world will survive but not these kirana shops, unless they change.

a small kirana store cant go online... as they need GST registration and it would increase their compliance cost and extra accounting services, GST filing, etc. apart from then GST department gang will create trouble for any mistake or even for without mistake to extort regular money... This a big challenging with a business having turnover 20-50 Lakhs. 99% Kirana store dont want to fall in trouble under GST. Need to resolve their pain point first.

Most dont buy from phone..maybe 2 or 3 percent of population buy from phone..Other than that the reason these shops ar affected because in metro people stay in rise building and society so mostly people would not want to drive or walk all the way to shop to buy.. So blinkit and swiggy target people that would pay for service offered... And next thing is credit card... Kirana store dont offer to pay using credit card..
