    In my last DELTARUNE video I missed so many great Knight candidates. Characters like Rouxls Kaard, Starwalker, and... Ice-E, could all very well end up being the Knight. While they are definitely crazy, wild-card candidates, I decided to do a video all about the craziest Knight candidates. While making this video however, I made a crazy discovery about Everyman, and how his story may tie into Deltarune as a whole...

When he reappears, it's as a graffity called everyman and in Jevil's carrousel attack whose other heads are monsters which could explain why it isn't a detailed face. It would make sense. Everyman could simply be... A representation of everyman

    A theory I heard somewhere and really love is that Rouxls will make gradually fewer and fewer appearances throughout the game (for example a lesser speaking role in ch3, nonspeaking cameo in ch4) before quietly disappearing through ch5 and possibly ch6 as well. Then, when we've all forgotten about him in our concern with all the plot stuff that's happened, he comes back as a secret boss, "discarded" like all the others (just like the card he's based on is usually thrown away).

    I feel like everyman is probably the "man" behind the tree who gives you the egg. Toby uses very similar language when talking about the man and the egg and Everyman. The egg's description is "not to important not too unimportant" and if I recall correctly when asked about Everyman at some point Toby said "he's just a guy who shows up from time to time".

    I'm a fan of the multi-knight theory. Two points that stand out to me:
    1. Having multiple knights goes well with chess theory, there being 4 knight pieces on the chess board.
    2. Knights usually ride on horseback. Combine that with the religious themes, and how the Roaring is an Apocalypse scenario --> Roaring Knight = Horseman of the Apocalypse.
    And there just so happen to be 4 Horsemen of the Apocalypse in the Book of Revelation as well :)

    • @ericke.8640
      @ericke.8640 ปีที่แล้ว +8

      Now THATS interesting! When talking about chess theory I see no one discuss that there are two sides to every game and how there are 4 of every piece, excluding the king and queen and pawns. We only saw one main boss each for chapters 1 and 2 because it was the king and queen, while chapters 3 4 5 and 6 could have 2 villains or even 4. Not to mention in a chapter meant to be about pawns there could be many different characters that were treated like pawns in previous chapters that come forward to make sure the roaring happens.

    • @n00bowser
      @n00bowser ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Hmm. Sure, why not. Do note, however, that there are only two knights on each side in chess. While I like the idea of there being two pairs of opposed roaring knights, we have so far only seen one (important) king and queen, so I would at most be expecting two knights.
      Though who knows. Maybe the dark world inside the church has two bishops. Probably not, though. By Toby standards that would be a far too obvious hint of there being two knights as well.

    • @ericke.8640
      @ericke.8640 11 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      @@n00bowser it wouldn't be "an opposed roaring knight" persay, just a character with the same power on the opposing side. Maybe it could be Kris, since people have theorized that they are the knight it might be cool to realize that they are A Knight just not the Roaring Knoght.

    Japanese version of the "strange son" quote:
    * ところが 最近になって  怪しい「騎士」が現れて  四王のうち3人が とらわれの身と  なってしまった。
    * 以来 残った1人の王と  その 変わり者の息子が  権勢を ほしいままにしてるのさ。
    My translation:
    * However, just recently, a suspicious "knight" appeared, and three of the four kings became prisoners.
    * Since then, the remaining king and his oddball son have been abusing power.
    That seems to mostly rule out the idea that King put someone else into power. And it uses different Japanese words to describe the knight and the son. (Both of the words could validly be translated as "strange", whereas I picked "suspicious" and "oddball" respectively, but the point is that they're different.)

    I think Roulx card isn't the knight, but definitely has something going on. Part of my theory, is that one of his Secret powers/final forms (If he does have any) is manipulation of matter, more specifically, manipulation of stone. It is my belief that he chose to turn himself into stone, in order to blend in because *Drumroll* he is in someway tied to either sans or gaster, or both. As a result of this connection, he could potentially have a soul. The teleportation powers link to both sans and gaster, and the way in which he is often nearby or close to the party might be him watching them, goading them to an overall goal. Maybe he could become a secret boss in a future chapter, a character we've met before being a secret boss would be a fun twist.

  • @ryanfelice5850
    @ryanfelice5850 ปีที่แล้ว +58

    If I remember correctly, Gaster (sorry, I mean the mysterious voice of mystery) tells you that you appear to have reached an END when you die. Since deltarune apparently only has one ending, which can be interpreted in many ways but is still quite important. This could be very, very significant. The endgame goal could be to create a new ending with the purpose of not letting Kris die, or preventing your soul from shattering, which we could later find out to be inevitabilities at the end of the game.

      @NedHaurwem_EN ปีที่แล้ว +5

      Yeah, I wrote something similar some time ago.
      I won't bore you with the details, but basically, Deltarune is a metaphor for the Flood (the biblical one) and Gaster is the angel (Lucifer, which means bringer of light).
      The world will be crushed under the wakes of darkness and all we are doing is creating a haven for the darkners.
      Also, the secret bosses might be related to the Babel tower (which Lucifer had a hand in).
      The Babel Tower was also a way to be safe from the flood.
      I'll add more details later if you're interested.

    • @ryanfelice5850
      @ryanfelice5850 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      @@NedHaurwem_EN If I remember the tower of babel story correctly, the tower was built by humans, proving that they could rival the creations of God. Therefore, God made them speak different languages and divided them so they couldn’t rival him again. I don’t remember the flood being involved with its creation, but I could be wrong. Does your theory involve the concepts of poor communication (like Spamton on his phone) or some powerful character (maybe Gaster or the knight) who tries to create divisions between different groups? Because that could tie into your theory.

    • @NedHaurwem_EN
      @NedHaurwem_EN ปีที่แล้ว +3

      @@ryanfelice5850
      God feared that the Tower of Babel was a attempt from humans to avoid a second Flood.
      Why do I think there will be a Flood-like event in Deltarune?
      Well, it is said that the world will be covered in darkness. We know darkness as a sort of fluid, which emerges from fountains.
      As they overflow, the darkness inside will become an unstoppable force of nature.
      All of this happens when you choose to abandon, after you have reached an end.
      What is the theme playing called when you give up? Darkness Falls. While you could see it as a cool title for a song, you could also see it as a cool reference for what darkness really is: a fluid (because falls are just water falling in great quantities).
      So, by choosing to recruit everyone multiple times, you are choosing to preserve what species of darkners will live on.
      What's funny is that there is a similar story in Zorostrianism, but with a snow storm.
      Ahura Mazda (roughly God in Zorostrianism) warned Jamsheed (a version of Noah) to build a big area underground.
      Funny thing is, this event did not happen yet.
      See where this is going? Noelle uses her ice powers to freeze her opponents, thus being an embodiment of this cataclysm.
      As for what could be this great underground area in Deltarune, apart from the bunker, I have no idea yet.
      Coming back to the Tower of Babel, The city from which this tower originates from (Babylon) is often refered to as the city of Satan/Lucifer. As I've said, I consider Gaster as Lucifer.
      Disclaimer: I will link Undertale with this, since the core aspects of the characters we've seen so far remain unchanged, personality-wise.
      Gaster has often been associated with the number 6. He appears only when the FUN value is 66. His monster type identifier in the code is 666. His stats are 666666.
      Pretty clear what this is a stand-in for, right?
      Lore-wise, Gaster is associated with falling.
      He was at the height of his life, but fell into his creation, to be forgotten by all.
      If we translate this to Deltarune, he was a lightner who fell into the Dark World.
      This is where it gets messy.
      Spamton might have refered to the Light World as H E A V E N during his pre-NEO-battle speech. So, in Deltarune, Gaster might have fallen from the Light World to the Dark World.
      Also, I am convinced the man behind the tree is Gaster. Do you remember a myth where someone offers you something in a tree? Correct, the Garden of Eden. The snake, often associated with Satan/Lucifer, was the one to offer an apple, giving Adam and Eve the knowledge of what's good and evil.
      The concept of knowledge is what is important here, since this is the only aspect so far from this myth that has been translated into Deltarune.
      To get to this tree, someone in real life had to say to you "Hey, there's a weird tree here with a gift". They acted as an Eve. In turn, you might say to your friends that there is indeed a tree, here. Knowledge gets shared, and everyone gets a piece of that egg.
      Let's segue into how knowledge plays a part in the game itself.
      Everyone who saw the weird man (Gaster) became aware of many things. They were told information about their worlds they did not have before.
      In turn, this made them go crazy and they became shunned from their respective societies.
      Going back to the Tower of Babel with those two secret bosses, they both are located way under the surface, further from Spamton's goal: H E A V E N.
      Also, they are the only two character who have actual voice lines in clear English, showing how they are being misunderstood by their societies.
      Do I think those religious undertones will be the main aspect of the story? Probably not, but keep an eye out for it. Toby Fox already hid many Biblical references in Undertale.

    If we're still looking for Knight Theories, I'm convinced it's Alphys
    So you gotta think about her role in Undertale and how it parallels the events of Deltarune:
    Alphys carries on the work of Gaster; the maintainance of The Core, the role as the Royal Scientist, and the experiments into Determination. Deltarune, meanwhile, is set up as a grand experiment likely by Gaster - Gaster talks to us at the start of the game, he gave us the game as Survey Experiment, and he operates the save menu until Chapter 2. Does Alphys still carry on his research and experiments?
    Alphys is leading you along using a phone in order to defeat a "killer robot" she designed. If Alphys is the knight, she is similarly guiding us along her path, for her purposes. We even have a character - Spamton - who is led along by a voice on the phone, and who desires to stop his own "Killer Robot" in the weird route, when he usurps the queen. And just like, generally has a bunch of Phone and Mettaton parallels - That's notable!
    Alphys builds a body for Mettaton, her Ghost/Dummy friend. Spamton draws multiple parallels with the various dummies, and in particular ends up inhabiting the equivalent of Mettaton's body. We are clearly meant to think of Mettaton with a lot of Spamton, but we don't really pick up on the Alphys connection at all
    In the previous video, Spookydood noted that there was no "known liar" among the candidates, but that's not actually true - Alphys has been known to lie, that's essentially the point of her entire arc in Undertale - to learn to be honest and stop hiding herself even when she has made a mistake. At one point in Deltarune outright lies to Toriel in front of her about how we are "Normal." I don't think her lying is even a question - it's just how much she is.
    Alphys is the foremost expert on Determination in Undertale, and is very much a scientist involved in some dark experiments therein. In Undertale, that's the true lab, and living on after a creature has died. In Deltarune, Determination makes Dark Fountains and Dark Worlds. If Alphys retains her knowledge on Determination in this timeline, she's possibly the only one we have met who could know how to make a Dark Fountain (Though may not know of the Roaring)
    I think it's also worth noting that, broadly, Everyman shows up in three places: The attacks in the True Lab, the attacks in the Dark World... And the alleyway which Alphys hangs out in.
    Once the parallel is in your head - Alphys as someone who knows about Determination, who carries on Gaster's experiments, who guides people through a phoneline - things can kind of start to become suspicious. Why was she so insistent on Kris and Susie being a group and getting the chalk personally, knowing you are unreliable? And why was the door to the closet locked after you leave the Dark World? Why was Toriel never called when you disappeared? Why has it just so happened that people are going in to Dark Worlds in their school project's groups? Isn't it suspicious that both Dark Worlds so far are within like ten meters of her classroom? And the Dark Worlds are kind of animesque and parallel Dragon Blazers - Which adult is most in to video games and anime?
    It's also worth noting that, in Undertale, on the question in the Mettaton Quiz on who Alphy's crush is on: If you say No One, she actually references Parallel Worlds defensively, and implies she has a crush on someone who exists in one of those. That is, likely, she has some kind of relationship with Gaster in a different timeline - a timeline like Deltarune, yeah?
    Edit: Changed some sentences and structure because I was fumbling words or for clarity, apologies. Also in hindsight I think I left almost this exact same comment in the previous video so uhh... Oops

      I feel like Alphys just being someone who carries on the work of Gaster kind of devalues her character. She's much more than that. Like SpookyDood already mentioned in his shipping video, the worst sin you can commit when it comes to things like shipping & theorizing is misinterpreting the story & its characters to try to prove your argument.
      First off, the only connection between Alphys and Gaster is the fact that they were royal scientists. That's it. There's no evidence that Alphys did maintenance on the core, neither is there evidence that Gaster did any determination-related experiments.
      I have no idea what you mean by Spamton trying to stop his own killer robot, because as far as I can tell, Spamton is trying to BECOME that killer robot. Also, SpookyDood did NOT say there's no known liar among the candidates, what he actually said is that it would be a really shitty twist if someone was lying with zero hints or buildup, which Alphys has none. The whole "Kris is normal" thing is just meant to be a joke, with her being so weirded out by Kris that she doesn't know how to react. Toby has already stated that the Deltarune characters are different characters who have lived different lives, so we can't entirely use their Undertale counterparts to determine what they're going to be like in Deltarune.
      Also, the idea that the Knight doesn't know of the Roaring is disproven by their name: "The *Roaring* Knight." I can also answer most of those questions you posed with one sentence: Because Toby wants the story to go a certain way. Things like "why was Toriel never called" cannot really be considered suspicious, because if they were accounted for, the story wouldn't go the way the author wants it to.
      The quiz doesn't imply that Alphys has a crush on someone who exists in a parallel world. The scene is Alphys being hopeful about someday meeting someone in a parallel universe who could be perfect for her, and she wouldn't have to feel as bad.
      Like I said before, Alphys has so many other things going on. Like her problem of lying to her friends to make herself seem like a better person than she is. Or even the entirety of the True Lab. The True Lab was basically an entire section of the game dedicacted to Alphys. Heck, she was literally the person that you had to go out of your way to learn more about and redeem in order to truly achieve the Pacifist ending. Reducing her to just being a carrier of Gaster's work seems disingenuous to her as a character.

      Apologies, I should have looked this up: The quote from the last video is "No character is an established liar, and no character besides Alvin and Kris have anything to do with the Knight." It's at 34:04 in the previous video on the subject. That's what I was referring towards.
      I will contend that I misremembered, and may have fallen for the fandom-canon of Gaster being responsible for a number of her creations. That is a good point, and I should not have assumed that! That she is the foremost expert on Determination in the entire series, and is involved in experiments in it, should be notable enough on it's own.
      But, don't misread me here - I've never said she was "Just" carrying on Gaster. Merely that she has an association with him, even if indirect. And that I find this notable, as well - any connection to Gaster, I feel, should be examined in a game presented by the character.
      Now... This is still a moon theory. This is all a very long shot, and in particular she is at the school when the Dark World seems to emerge. But, the video asked for weird candidates - And I feel this character was dismissed in the previous video perhaps before assessing her as deeply as she could have been.

      @@i010001 A mistake on my part: I thought you were referring to the Kris Knight video when you mentioned that quote. Sorry about that.
      I admit I have a bias against any theory that involves an Undertale character possibly being the Knight, at least not any major one. Chapter 1's prologue was filled with a bunch of Undertale characters. The scene in which Toriel drives us to school even has this triumphant music while we drive past familiar faces, as if wanting us to be happy to see these characters again. It seems like the perfect intro to another story heavily involving these beloved characters. And yet, every character of the main cast so far is a completely new original character unseen in Undertale. This makes me believe that no significantly plot-relevant character can be someone that previously appeared in Undertale, at least not a major one like Alphys. Gaster is an exception to this because, in Undertale, he could barely even be considered a character. He was so irrelevant to the game's main plot that if he was never even referenced at all, nothing would change.
      At least, that's my reasoning.

      I would not say an Undertale character is off the table completely, and we will probably see a lot of characters from Undertale get little side stories, like how Onion seems oddly important for some reason.
      But, like, just thematically - The cast of Undertale has had their time in the sun, and this is a different experience. It may be a little... Thematically odd if a major character gets another arc. I do think that is a major point of hesitation against my little pet theory here, haha

    Okay so. I'm a big believer in chess theory and I think there's a way to see the knights through this lense:
    Firstly, which side would the roaring knight be on? would they count as being on the "lightner" side ( where you would see Kris and Noelle etc. ) or the "darkner" side? For this comment I'll be assuming they are on the lightner side. this is due to the fact that if they were on the darkner side there would need to be 3 lightners that are knights minimum.
    ( also as a side note, this means there is a possibility that the knight has a redemption arc/ ends up joining sides with kris and susie etc. )
    So, given this we can look at possibilities for who the 2 lightner knights are?
    The first possibility: Kris is one of the knights and the roaring knight is simply alvin /mayor knight/( whoever else)
    The second possibility: what if it's both alvin AND Carol as knights.
    I really like the mayor knight theory, it's personally my favourite knight theory, but an issue I have with it is, how does the mayor know about how to make dark fountains? My proposal for this is. Alvin taught her how to make the dark fountains ( he wants it to be done to get the religious goals relating to the angel et cetra et cetra ) and the mayor is doing it too find Dess in the depths.
    This could set up Alvin as a manipulator that used the grief of a mother to fulfill his own personal goals which in my opinion would be VERY ( very ) interesting.

    the main issue with the RK is the knight theory is that he can't open fountains, but what if RK is working with a lightner. The lightner goes around opening dark fountains, and RK handles everything regarding the Roaring Knights brand/stopping the fountains from being closed.
    This explains why the knight left the Cyber World so quickly, as they did the exact same with the Card Kingdom. RK swooped in immediately after their comrade opened the Card Kingdom dark fountain and locked all the kings up, putting him and his strange son into power. He tried to do the same with the Cyber World, but completely failed as he arrived at the same time as the Delta Warriors, giving him no time to properly climb the social ladders/no opportunity to claim himself as the knight.

    I've always personally believed in a modified version of the multi-knight theory.
    See, I don't believe there are LITERALLY multiple knights, but rather that tbe one singular Knight character has the ability to possess characters in the world of Deltarune like we do, and I believe they are even the entity who takes control of Kris at the end of chapter scenes (yes, that is to say that I do not think KRIS is taking control from us, mostly due to how Kris is characterized as having periods where they are MORE abnormal than usual in the Spamton Sweepstakes).
    I believe this theory gains more substance to it when you look at the interactable objects in the bathroom in Chapter 2, as we clearly see that the narration text box is not just AWARE of Kris' possession prior to it happening with the sink saying "It is not yet time to wash your hands", but it ALSO pushes the player TOWARDS Kris' possession by changing all the interactable texts to (There's no use) except for the sink. And after using the sink, the texts change AGAIN, but only fot the sink and the shower. Why woulf Toby even bother to have these interact texts change? Sure, you could argue that it was put there for people on repeat playthroughs to catch the foreshadowing, but that doesn't explain why the SHOWER changes text, and AFTER the cutscene. Seems like a really unnecessary change if not to point out that the narration text is aware of what is going on. Not to mention, the narration IS a speaker OTHER than you anf Kris, because they use second person pronouns to refer to the play, and Kris' name to refer to Kris.

When we're talking about objects that were discarded and then turned into very powerful Darkners because of the negativity and emotion, we're talking about Light World counterparts. What in the world would Ralsey's hat be if that exists in the Dark World? How exactly do we go about clothes of Darkners? Kris' pocket things turn into equipment or consumables, how would a hat inside the Dark World be affected by that? What would it even be, and where do clothes come from? Are clothes actually a part of Darkners' skin? I might be overthinking this

      I'm sorry but it's so funny to me that this alleged omnipotent, omniscient being who created existence gets jealous of objects, which were created by them, because humans, who were also created by them, like them more than God, so they throw a fit. This is a direct contradiction. God is said to be "perfect" and yet they get jealous and angry at humanity for not worshiping them? Jealousy, wrath, narcissism and egoism (pride)? Sounds to me like y'all's god is pretty flawed. * wheezes *
      Sorry, I beat God in a parking lot in October 1998, now's my turn to fix things.
      "Good deeds" will not remain by your side, they will remain by the side of others and how you've influenced the world around you. After death, you'll turn into goop, which is great for worms and larvae (and such is the way of the worm). The only way I can see Deltarune having a connection to that plot is that everyone will face judgement for creating Dark Worlds which is a metaphor for our love and sometimes obsession with "fiction", and another pissboy like God will get angry that we're conjuring up much more entertaining things than reading the same book over and over again.
      Can you tell I have negative history with religion?

      @manslaughter3180 Yeah, I could tell. I met a bunch of angry atheists back in the late 2000s-early 2010s. I have a couple of things to say, so please give me a chance. Firstly, that while "The Summoning of Everyman" is a Christian Morality Play, that doesn't make it 100% theologically accurate. Secondly, I don't agree with your characterisation of God - why is it contrary to perfection to care about others? What, would a perfect God ignore us and take a completely hands-off approach? Why? You also seem to be using a deficient image of God, as just a jumped-up superman who craves worship despite not deserving it. Christian theology doesn't conceive of God this way, but as the very Ground of Being, Being Itself, who created us to share His love and sustains us in existence at every second. Eternal life with God is the only way we can be truly, permanently happy, and to worship Him is simply natural and correct, much like its natural and correct to find honourable things good and cruelty repugnant. It isn't a matter of narcissism or ego, because of all things that exist, God alone DESERVES to be worshipped.

    I'm personally a huge fan of there being multiple knights/no actual capital K "knight", and I really hope it's the direction that Deltarune takes. I think one of the most interesting parts of Deltarune is how lightners can and will react to dark fountains as places and creations; The knight, whoever they are, is a way to analyze the perspective that wholeheartedly believes in the dark worlds as a way to make positive change, and because of this is a foil to Ralsei's beliefs. Having multiple "Knights", or more specifically having more people making dark fountains for their own reasons, just allows you to cover more aspects of Dark Fountains as a concept. Is the Knight doing this for escapism? Are they trying to find someone? Do they think the roaring is some necessary apocalyptic event? Having multiple knights allows you to explore all of this through different antagonists/creators of dark fountains.
    Like you said, there are a ton of doors that open when the fountains can be divided between multiple candidates. Stuff like "Kris can't be the knight because they were occupied for all of the Day the Ch. 2 fountain was made and it doesn't make sense for them to be able to do it the night before" or "Papyrus can't be the knight because he doesn't interact with anyone in chapter 2, which would be weird if he was doing this to make friends" are no longer obstacles, since these candidates simply could have not made that specific fountain. This gives the DR devs freedom to explore candidates who might be very thematically interesting, but couldn't have made every fountain. It also explains how different the knight acts between the chapter 2 fountains; In chapter 1, the knight gets extremely involved, restructuring the entire structure of the dark world. In chapter 2, though, the knight doesn't interact with anyone; Even Queen, who's both extremely influential and very interested in contacting the knight, doesn't get the chance to see them.
    An example of a candidate this helps is Noelle. Noelle is heavily foreshadowed to make a fountain sometime in the future, and Noelle being the knight could be used as a vehicle to explore Deltarune's main themes of Escapism/Control incredibly well, using Noelle's attempts to use Dark Worlds to find Dess/Save Rudy to argue what we do and don't have control over. She's heavily foreshadowed to be this game's version of the "Angel" that's in Undertale, and pretty much the only thing we know about the Angel is that they'll make a dark fountain. Noelle knows how to make a fountain, has been encouraged to do so by Queen, and she's clearly stronger than any individual party member already/gets stronger faster than any of them, showing she could definitely pose a threat on her own to the fun gang. Despite all this, though, Noelle can't be the knight, since there's no way she could have made the Chapter 1/2 fountains. (Kris is another normally not-very likely candidate who's extremely thematically interesting, and who would make a lot more sense if the Chapter 2 fountain in particular was just not made by Kris.)
    Talk in the game generally saying there's only one Knight is a ding to this, but I think it can definitely be explained, specifically by considering "Knight" as a character in a prophecy rather than a specific person. Making the Knight making fountains into a prophecy works thematically; You can look at different candidates and their relationship to the prophecy, and how it ties into their agency in making fountains in the first place. Are they inadvertently fulfilling the prophecy? Deliberately leaning into it? If they know of the prophecy, are they denying it? You could even go so far as to point out that lightners all get different clothes when they go into dark fountains (presumably based on their will/soul/determination or whatever) and argue that anyone with the will to create a dark fountain could be given the armor of the knight on entering the world they made.

"Undertale". Revealing that deltarune was a prologue.

    My assumption is that Everyman is a funny little reference Toby and the team put in the game for fun. Like, maybe an artist in the team will put Everyman somewhere weird and show the rest of the team to make them laugh, and they go "Oh, that's funny, we're leaving that in"
    It's not uncommon for collaborative projects to have stuff like this.
    For example, way before Bill Cipher showed up in Gravity Falls, Alex Hirsch wasn't sure if he was ever going to be a character in the first place, and even then they included a bunch of triangle eye tophat imagery for fun. This ended up well for them, since it all comes off as foreshadowing now that the show is over, but that wasn't the intent.
    I think Everyman is similar. Just a cute little nod and a wink

    The *first* fountain was opened up by someone else, the computer lab one was opened up by Kris. I never get why people discount Kris in the computer lab dark fountain, always claiming Noelle and Berdly have to be in the room when the fountain opened. Both Kris and Susie walked into a Dark World thinking the lights had been turned off, why wouldn't Berdly and Noelle?

    • @Goallpeashooters

      the issue is that Noelle would never go into a dark, scary room. Especially when that room is supposed to be lit. It also doesn't make sense that ONLY Noelle and Berdly got caught up in this dark fountain considering that for Kris to be the culprit it would have to have been made the night prior. Considering the Library is a public space, many other people should have been brought in, but that didn't happen.

      These arguments about "timeline" seem to drop the important narrative discussion in favor of scribbling in the margin. And yes, I know I'm a hypocrite, my comment is literally talking about timeline.

The Everyman we see is a mockery of Kris, like the whole universe is laughing at their face.
    So Kris is Everyman, Susie is Good will and Ralsei is death, leading us to our demise. Listening to Ralsei and going no violence will lead to an ending similar to the play, and going wild will lead to the worst ending possible, forcing us to learn when to use violence or not.

    I actually had "there is more than one Knight" theory for a while now, though I called the theory the "heroes of darkness" as the idea was that there was a "dark player character party" that was a foil to the heroes of legend/prophecy, whom I called the "heroes of darkness." Only one of them was the capital "K" knight under this theory, but all three where working togther, and each one lined up to a "RPG player character class/player character party role"....the foil parties where essentially..
    Heroes of Legends/Fun Gang
    Kris = Warrior/Knight
    Ralsei = Spellcaster
    Susie = Berserker
    Heroes of Darkness/Team Roaring
    Warrior/Knight = THE Knight, aka the one doing the dirty work of actively opening fountains while the other two dark heroes/team roaring members move pieces from the shadows. Under my Heroes of Darkness theory, was either a Gerson Darkner or Des
    Spellcaster = Father Alvin
    Berserker = Mayor Holiday (She is described as being scary and imposing enough to scare robbers away all by herself, so she would fit here)
    Idea was "The Knight" goes around making fountains while Father Alvin provides the esoteric knowledge and mystical talent needed to maintain the existence of "The Knight" while the Mayor acts as the "leader" of the team and public front, who covers up what they are doing and prepares the town for the roaring ritual (aka the festival). The theory was really too long to post here.

    Other than that good video, I never saw the first so no idea if you covered it but my personal choice for knight candidate is the annoying dog, he's innocuous enough to get into the school, and he's in the library at the time of the dark fountain being created. And there’s a potential parallel with the final prompts in both undertale and deltarune being to “Fight the dog”. His motivation for creating the dark fountains would be to make the best experience for the real life player as it’s his game after all.

    I’ve thought there were multiple knights for a while, the term ‘The’ knight would relate to the knight of the individual dark world rather than a single person. If not then then the knight only opened the first fountain and maybe the second because we see kris open a fountain and Birdly basically says he opened the library fountain.
    Also I believe a swatching or Queen says that the knight created ‘our’ world referring to the library dark world but I could be wrong about that so its not much for evidence. Its a bit of semantic argument but I stand by it.

      YOOOOO
      Someone else has played this and noticed the similarities?
      Sorry, I'd like to talk about this. There are clear parallels, but I don't know if it is inspiration so much as just... Being another Earthbound-inspired RPG, and so is drawing from the same ideas. Magi-Nation is a remarkably obscure JRPG, but Toby Fox has said he "Consumes JRPGs instead of food and so their obscurity as a child has resulted in brittle bones" so if anyone knows the game well it may be him. I wouldn't say it's THE inspiration, in any case, but certainly it has similarities
      Tony Jones moves to a new town and falls into a hole in a place called Tavel Gorge; Phillip Tavel is the name of the game designer of the card game the RPG was based on. This reference seems to be an inversion of Earthbound's Mt Itoi - It's a gorge at the start of the game, and the shortest area, rather than a mountain at the end.
      Tony falls through a hole in a cave there and finds himself in a world of magic and monsters, where he is said to be the reincarnation of a great magus from the past, and a destined hero who must seal the Shadow Geysers emerging from the earth; they are dungeons from a place called The Core.
      Moment to moment, the game is a Mons game about recruiting monsters. But it's notable for a wacky sense of humor and excellent music and graphics for the system. The game seems, again, rather Earthbound-like in it's weird cast of characters. I love that the tutorial guy is basically Macho Man Randy Savage and that the main character is just like "uhh..."
      The game also bears something VERY interesting: A secret route! This is the most hidden thing I've ever seen; there's an entire separate route which starts if, after a non-winnable boss, you run directly back to where you lost without talking to anyone including the person who rescued you. This starts a gigantic, game-long quest which runs in parallel to the main game and which requires you to do such unintuitive things as use an infinite-money exploit to fill out the currency -twice- to afford something, go through an optional dungeon for super-medicine to heal an NPC and then not heal him, etc. The end result is a super boss against four of the strongest monster in the game, unseen anywhere else. So it has it's own Weird Route!
      It's actually such a strange and notable game

    On your last Knight video, I gave my own arguments on Alvin Knight, and someone told me it couldn't be him because he didn't even have custom talking sounds and was therefore not that important.
    However, I remembered that Cathi from school doesn't have custom sounds either, and yet we've seen concept art of attacks for her in the Dark World, meaning that she is important.
    Therefore, the argument of Alvin not being the Knight because he has no custom talking sounds and is therefore not an important character is irrrlevant.

      The difference with Catti, though, is that she has a talk sprite. Alvin doesn't even have that.
      The basis of that argument isn't that he's unimportant simply because he doesn't have custom talking sounds, it's that he's so easily forgettable and missable to the point where it would seem strange to make him what is an incredibly important antagonist. A character with a role that important needs to be set up well and show up in the main story. Not set up through optional, easily missable dialogue.
      I mean, take the Asriel twist for example. New Home was almost entirely comprised of monsters giving you Asriel's story. Asriel's reveal was not set up through easily missable content. It was an entire, unskippable section of the game.

Even if you don't think it's much, it's still a whole 2 chapters of the game. And since the Knight likely isn't going to be in the final stretch of the game, with things like Gaster and the Roaring being set up to be major plot points, we probably can't consider the last few bits of the game to be Knight-related. Not to mention that it was confirmed Chapter 3 is going to be frivolous, so it's likely there's not going to be any buildup there. And besides, the Knight isn't the only conflict happening in the game. There needs to be room for other things as well, like the character arcs and conflicts of the Dreemurr and Holiday families. I just have a difficult time believing that there's going to be any more Knight buildup than there already is.

    One that I see everywhere is that the discarded vessel could potentially be the Knight. I'm not exactly sure what makes people believe this, but I'll try my best to make it work. I'll even attempt to tie it in with Angel's Hell.
    The vessel, after being discarded, felt confused and betrayed after being thrown away. It seeks to receive an answer as to why it was discarded, or at the very least, an answer to anything. Eventually, it learns of the prophecy and of the Angel's Heaven. Perhaps, as someone who was created in the Depths, the discarded vessel knows that Gaster is the Angel. It knows that if anyone holds an answer, it would be him. And so, it attempts to bring about the Roaring in order to come face-to-face with him.
    While an interesting enough idea, I just cannot find anyone who actually provides significant evidence to support the Vessel Knight theory to save my life. Trust me, I've tried.
