hey bud, I did this and now when idling my car sits at 500rpm and almost dies sometimes when idling. Any idea what could be causing that issue? Edit: Just read on a forum that the car may need to relearn idle. Guy had the same issue I'm having and after driving it for awhile he said it went back to normal.

Before anyone spends any money on a replacement ABS, I would encourage them to consider a much cheaper approach that seems to have worked for me.
1. Remove the malfunctioning ABS module
2. Treat the electronics and all conductive surfaces (inside module and the connection points under the hood) with DeoxIT D5 spray
3. Wait at least 2 minutes
4. Treat the same areas with Deoxit Gold G5*
5. Reattach ABS module
That's it. Originally my instrument cluster was going haywire every one to two days. After cleaning it as described, I haven't had a single issue for going on three weeks now.
*The Gold spray is a little pricey and is likely not necessary.

Dealership tried to charge me $3000 for this repair, independent mechanic wanted $2000. I couldn't find the part at the junkyard unfortunately, but I ordered it online for under $200 and was able to fix it myself with zero mechanical skills or knowledge. Thank you for saving me thousands of dollars!! While researching I also learned that this part works for 2007-2009 camrys and the parts for different types of camrys (e.g. v6 vs 4 cylinder) may be different, so check the serial number (the one on the bottom of the module, you need to unscrew it and take it out to see it) and make sure it is correct. (Mine only matched up to the 3 circled numbers in the middle and it was fine)

how did you bleed brake after abs module installation? manual or you needed to use odb scanner with abs bleed feature?
I am quite non-mechanical. These instructions were so very clear and complete that even I was able to do the repair. My Toyota dealer quoted $2,000 (to be fair, that's new Toyota parts - not needed on a 14-year-old, 175K miles Camry - and probably replaced the pump, too). My local shop (they do good work) quoted $800 including a non-OEM part (considered new). From the junkyard I bought this from (with a 1-year guarantee), the total cost including tax and shipping was $180. 45 minutes of my time (I TOLD you I'm not mechanical, LOL) and voila!!! All fixed. For those challenged by All Things Mechanical, as I am, that lower right bold IS difficult to reach, and yes, a couple of other parts do get into the way. Patience, lad - you'll get it. THANK YOU for this video. My loyal Camry is quite happy now.

Omg, I'm so glad I tuned in to your video. I have the exact car and problem. I will have to drive to nursing school which is 1 1/2 hours each way, so I need to get my car fixed before the program starts. Where I live it can get up to 115 degrees in the summer. Without A/C I will die for 3 hours on the road everyday. I went to a Toyota dealer here in my town and they charged me $115 to put my care on a computer to analyze the issue, then they said it would cost me $4400 to get it fixed. They advised me to buy another car rather than getting it fix. I'm sure being a single mother of two had a something to do with them playing me, but like I said I'm so glad I tuned in to your video. I am going to call around for the part at junk yards and do it myself. Thank you so much!!!!

Does the autoparts sell the ABS module ?
I got a quote of 700 for parts and 200 for services. I want to fix this issue but I am not getting a part at the price range that I am seeing here.
You the real mvp man. My 2009 Camry was showing the same signs and symptoms as everyone in the comments, if not more. I did the fix about 5 days ago now and my car has been running just fine. Hopefully it remains that way, and I believe it will.

Problem: 2005 Toyota Avalon. Brake and ABS lights are on on the dash board. Speedometer doesn't work, it won't shift out of first gear. This all happened at the same time. No codes displayed on my scan meter. I left the car for two weeks with a Toyota mechanic. He replaced the alternator and battery. No help. I called two Toyota service departments, they never heard of this problem. I replaced the ABS control module as shown in the video. Voila, ABS and Brake lights went off, the speedometer started working and it now shifts through all of the gears like it is supposed to. The part cost me $87.00. It was easy to replace. I also disconnected the negative battery terminal while I was replacing the module. Kudos to you guys for this video. It was a Great help and saved me a lot of headaches. No one else had ever heard of this problem. THANK YOU so much.

Hello Guys .... I have never seen a car fix that is so direct and precise as this. Before I called an Electrical expert I did my research which was when I saw this video that portrays exactly what was wrong with my Camry 05 V6.... I did a diagnostic scan which revealed issues with the Solenoid terminals so that made it clear that it was the Abs module but the expert felt it was the sensors on the wheels... with further investigation he concluded it was ABs module . In the market here, you have to buy the full abs pump and so I did and it instantly cleared all the problems. Gear not selecting , speedometer no reading, tachometer flickering with car going off, brake and abs light on, AC not working fine. All these Gone. It just scares me how so electrical this car is. I thank God for this video. God Bless

😃😃😃😃 Update! With the help of your video yesterday and a little work (bought a brand new set of ratchets from a respected) I installed my new module! I bought it online for $100 (US) w/pump attached also-best I could find, but I know even with new ratchets I saved a LOT of money. Worked IMMEDIATELY.
My odometer, before new module, was among other things to fail. High-beams too. Temp gauge jump up and down at times. Lots of stuff.
All works!
Installed yesterday. Made my father proud. A brilliant man in computers, math, fatherhood, intellectual pursuits, painting, and more-but not cars beyond windshield washer fluid addition or oil-level checking.
I may have to do this on my 2012 Camry. Did you have to do any programming? Was the "new" module from the same year make and model?

Thanks a lot for this video. It's just what I have been looking for. I live in Nigeria, and in November my 2007 Camry was brought in from the States. About 3 weeks ago I began to experience these exact problems with the car. I was concerned that the mechanics we have over here would engage in trial and error repair attempts and make things worse. Now I know what exactly needs to be done. I am jubilant!

I have fixed the problem. I had my friend who shipped the car from the US initially bring over an ABS module from Maryland. It was installed and everything is OK now. BTW, my friend gave it to me free of charge. Cool.
I have the issue now, just bought abs for 80k Nigeria naira, waiting for d mechanic to fix it, hope it works

I have an 09 Camry that was doing the same thing. Went to a pick and pull and bought one for $70. Pulled it off an 08 model and it’s working fine.
My toyota cam 09' suddenly got the codes C0200, C0205, C0210, and C0215. Why just not one but all four?

Thank you for this video. It perfectly described how to install the ABS control module. I have a 2007 Camry. It took my about 20 minutes. My local Toyota junk yard (Los Angeles) wanted $275 for this part. I found one on eBay for $170. Now the ABS and BRAKE lights are OFF and my speedometer works perfectly. Thank you, again, for your helpful install video, that also helped me diagnose the problem in the first place and get it fixed!

Replaced ABS module on 2015 Camry with used eBay module that had been tested. Works so far after test drive for 1/2 hour-hopefully this will continue to function. Thank you Garage Boys!

I had the problems with my 2007 Camry and bought a abs module from a salvage yard for 100$ and it fixed it 😊😊😊😊😊 thanks for sharing the fix! When I called the junkyards the prices were all the way to 200$ and a Dorman rebuilt was 750$

I am resident in Nigeria and driving a 2009 Toyota Camry. I had this same issue when returning from a trip last week. After watching your video and with the experience of my colleague who also had similar problems, I yesterday took my car to the mechanic yard. We bought the complete ABS system because here they sell the complete assembly. After replacing it, the entire problem stopped. I will be taking it for a longer distance trip today.
Meanwhile, I forgot to add that I also had two error codes last week, P0712 Transmission fluid temperature sensor A low input; and P0606 ECM/PCM Processor. I am presuming the ABS module failure has a secondary effect on the transmission...
I was reading on toyotanation thst the abs module fails because brake fluid leaks inside and causes the shorting out of the lights and dash guages. I also have a power stearing leak from the reservoir near this abs module that could be causing my short. Just FYI. Thanks for the video.

Great video, I have similar problem with an 05 Avalon. ABS light on, Brake light on, temperature gauge dead, a.c. not working, and gear light indicator off. I disconnected battery and everything work fine for a few minutes then back to the same proble. Next I took module off and cleaned with electrical cleaner, put everything back and car was running like a champ for about 30 min, but after that same problem. I found a used module for $70 dls, just need to go pick it up and will give it a try, thanks for your video💯💯

Ash Kumar check your ABS Module and also check all the fuses related to ABS.

Symptoms (thanks to you) fixed:
*Brake light on
*ABS light on
*Tachometer jumping and at times at zero
*Same as above for tachometer
*Temp-gauge to zero and back to half (normal operating temp)
*Fuel would sometimes move around
*Hi-beam indicator would be on when lights at normal
*Gear (P,R,N, D..)indicator on/off
*Air-flow issues for AC/heat
*Defogger in front window works at 5% efficiency (REALLY long time to clear-not acceptable in winter)
*Rear-windshield defroster works only at C- level
Let’s see...what else?
Odometer and and trip-meters would NOT count (frozen in time making it look like you were getting horrible mileage)

what year was your camry and does it need programming?
Thanks man. My car, Toyota Camry 2009 had d same problem. Different XX abs tested not compatible(didn't work) until I found d X8 variant and problem got fixed. Seems only Camry 09 carries either XX abs or X8 abs variant.

Thank you for the video. Does the ABS module affect the EPS system in a 2013 Camry? The brake, ABS, and EPS lights all came on, with the steering wheel becoming stiff. I went to the mechanic and they said its ABS module.

Natalie Clem most car batteries have a 10mm bolt you can unscrew some times is 8mm , you can use ratchet or a wrench to unscrew it. You don’t have to disconnect both terminals. You can just disconnect one

Hello, i have been experiencing the symptoms you have listed, the ABS & brake lights on, the speedometer and AC not working... Just recently the engine light came on and the brake pedal started making a hissing noise as if air was coming out when I pressed the pedal and it's taking a lot more effort to stop. I took the car to the dealer and they said it's the ABS actuator... Is that the same as the module in this video? Were you experiencing problems with the engine light on and the brake pedal acting up too? Please help!

Hello. So this began happening to me yesterday. I have a 2008 Toyota Camry. Auto zone and o'reilys have the abs module for $674! Oh heck naw. So I called a junkyard and they said the closest model they have a part from is a 2004 Toyota Camry. Can I get that part for my 08 Camry? Thanks for your video.It was really helpful!

swapped my abs module out on my 07 camry le , AC speedometer and rpm gage all work fine but the check engine light popped on and the abs and brake lights are still on ... any idea ?

2011 toyota camry having similar problem. But mine was doing the same thing such as head light diming, abs , handbreak on, traction light on, rpm goes to zero also while running and fixing my itself in 2-3s. Should I try this solution?

If you don’t change the pump you don’t need to bleed the system . Only change the module

Hey! great video. My 2007 Toyota Camary has to same exact problem. When I go to order the ABS Module someone always ask me is it WITH or WITHOUT traction control? I would I know if my Camry has traction conrtol?
To be sure, you can call any Toyota dealer and give them your VIN number and they will be able to tell you right away. Just tell them you want to buy the ABS module and then ask them if yours has the traction control

My 2004 camry failed smog with speed sensor code P0500. I have similar issue. All three ABS, Brake and check-in engine light come up and speedometer indicator goes up and down, the check-in engine light stays ON. Mechanic changed the speed senor and dash cluster but same issue. Looking from video, I need to get ABS changed ?

@@GarageBoys i have a 2012 camry and i had my slip hazard, abs and break lights come on whenever i used my brakes. Im not sure if this is a solution for my car but if it is then i just wasted money leaving my car with toyota to check out :(

I replaced mine a year ago and now it's back at it again. I think it got wet because thats what happened last time when the lights came on. I also got my car washed yesterday. My speedometer still works though

That's the only part of the ABS actuator that have moving parts, thus the only thing to go bad on it?
Wonderfull vid man! My 2007 toyota auris has same kind of a problem. abs, airbag and check engine light pops up every now and then and also speedometer dies. And sometimes all works fine even for a couple of days.. Could it also be a faulty abs-module or could the whole instrument panel be broken?
Bad ABS module won’t give you a check engine and airbag light. Sounds like you have something else going on. I would recommend checking the “check engine” light
