My oldest son when he was just learning to walk would just rage and bang his head in anger. He started looking like a unicorn. I went to his doctor and working with him we learned how to stop him. He would be taken to a soft spot when he was getting mad. Then we took away 1 thing at a time until he was down to 1 chair. We would say go to your chair. After awhile it just stopped. Yes I could have been under investigation because of it. I wasn't because I was honest and asked for help. But even if they put me under it, all that mattered was my son's safety. Accidents happen, but ignoring more than the occasional bruise is abuse!

He is always just going and going. Over the years, he has got many bruises, mostly on his legs. Sometimes I feel like a broken record telling him to stop climbing or slow down over and over. But if I ever for a second thought he was seriously injured I would absolutely take him to a doctor. I can not imagine neglecting a child with a broken leg like this. The greed of the insurance companies, the greed of the pharmaceutical companies, and the greed of big business and politicians. The fair pricing that other countries charge does not cause the insane price hikes implemented on absolutely everything. That is like saying "Canada charged us $0.10 per pill to make this medication so to make enough money we have to charge $150.00, seems reasonable and is all Canada's fault." Yeah but then Steve blames people when they don’t try to get their kids back or do more too. It’s a lose lose battle to please him. Clearing her name is necessary to get her baby back, if she didn’t try she’d be guilty and she’d seem like she didn’t want her child. Did he expect her to just remain silent and accept blame or do what she’s got to do to get back her child she didn’t even abuse. She can learn from this and never repeat it.

I worked for DCF for 10 years. There is no "profitable" baby business. We place chidlren with foster parents then we search for family members who might be appropriate. While the children are in custody CPS pays the foster parents to care for the children. They are not making money on the kids. If a parent loses permanent custody there is no charge for the parents that adopt the child. We made sure the kids have medical insurance even after the adoption is final. When they take a child the court orders certain things must be done to help the parent get the kids back. They have to work with a socialworker and do what the court order says. They are given 12 months to do those things if the child is under 1 year old and they have 15 months if the child is older than 1 year.

Ultimately both passed Steve's test, no photos were provided. For Steve to turn to the woman and say you shouldn't be a mother with a televised audience is extremely poor form, it's going to be doubly difficult to get that kid back now, all that Mother probably needs is parenting classes.

    Everyone's suspect here:
Alex: She didn't take the kid to the hospital when he got injured.
Corey: Even though he's not legally responsible for the safety of the child, he chose to stay in a relationship with a young woman who wasn't ready to be a mom
Bobby: doesn't seem to have done much to help her daughter with the granchild
Corey's family: didn't do anything about the bruises
Steve: didn't tell Corey to leave the relationship.
We can't say Alex and Corey allowed the kid to be abused because they seem to genuinely not know what happened. But they failed this kid by not doing everything they could to find out the who what when where why and how, and make sure it would never happen again. They made no effort to protect this child. Anyone defending Alex because she was a teen mom or she was abused as a child is ignoring the fact that most of the time you have to be on DRUGS to behave this selfishly with your kids. She did this sober. She was clean when this happened. No drugs, no alcohol. She was clean when she made the decision to not take the kid to the doctor. To this day, no one knows where this kid is and who's raising him. Alex is a terrible mother, Corey is just a random dude who needs to both wash his hands of this situation by leaving her and grow up to be a real man in the event he has to protect his own kids, Steve needs to get with the times and Bobby needs to step up her grandma game.

That's what scares me. She did this *sober*. I could understand a little if she was baked or high off her rocker, but to look at a child, while sober, and decide to not care for the child? Truly horrific.

How in the hell can anyone abuse a child? When my son goes to his mom's for her every other weekend and when we did week on and week off when he was an infant and toddler, I observed very closely my son's body because I watched enough Maury and Steve Wilkos type of shows and enough reality tv shows about child abuse so I always paid attention because it was my job and duty to ensure my son is safe, healthy, and happy.

She deserves the shame Steve is giving her. You’re telling me even though she’s taking “accountability” in saying that she knows she fails her son makes everything better? She got the energy and motivation to get up and call the show to cover her own ass, why couldn’t she call the hospital and get him treatment?! I’ll tell you why, because she lacks the same motivation and energy for her son. She may use the excuse of fear from cps taking her baby but at this point with all the severe injuries this poor baby had that’s the last thing she should think about and putting his needs first overall.

Her fears were correct though. Cps didn’t investigate correctly because she and her boyfriend in fact DIDNT abuse that baby. Me being in the system I feel for her. How can Steve ignore the fact that they didn’t do any harm to the baby and the mom was right to fear her child being taken away. Not only that but some children genuinely hurt themselves and it doesn’t look good on the parents. Maybe the child is autistic. He continued to tear into her even though she admits regretting not taking him to the hospital, it was a young and dumb mistake but she didn’t do anything to purposely hurt her child nor allow anyone else to do it…I feel once she said her genuine feelings and they both passed Steve should have let her know it was a dumb mistake and encourage her to do better. I’ve seen him be fat softer on people who were guilty and it doesn’t sit right with me. A lot of unnecessary comments…

Her justification for not taking the kid to the hospital made no sense. The cps thing is whatever but even if a kid has an autistic attack and spazzes out and hurts himself she could've done SOMETHING to get the wounds patched up. Everyone noticed these injuries but her and Corey. Normally you'd have to be on drugs to be this stupid with your kids, but she was SOBER!

@@Myron_The_Wolf again that is her biggest regret as she stated. It was a young and dumb mistake and I’m not denying that she was wrong to do it. HOWEVER Steve went in on her much more than I’ve seen in other cases that were actually intentional. Her being so young he should have yelled at her but also gave her room for IMPROVEMENT. Especially because she didn’t hurt her child nor did she allow it.

She has a good chance of turning things around. She’s obviously learned from her mistake.
