    I watched these videos while the wife watched 90 day fiance episodes. We both enjoyed the things we watched, thanks Jeremy.

    I appreciate what you have done. As I finally have my own space for working at home and a place for a private computer that I only use I have started myself to use Linux more. There are obstacles but as you point out it is fun to learn.

    Linux is cool indeed, but it's not a operating system, but a kernel;) Nitpick mode off.

    Great job Jeremy! Your journey is really inspiring. I just started using Linux myself coming from Mac and I'm really linking it so far. Keep us up with what you're larning, that'll be helpful for us other newbies as well :)

    I'm pretty sure stock Linux is better than windows at Real Time stuff... I doubt the audio sync problem is that.

    Having used Linux as my main operating system for the past 3 years, I think I’m actually doing the opposite - moving to Mac OS. I realised I’d prefer something that just works, and works really smoothly in all areas. I used to use Mac OS in 2009 but I went computerless after that. I’ve used Windows and Linux since but with Linux, I’ve encountered weird bugs and desktop glitches, as well as a general lack of polish on the desktop front. At this point I’d rather have something that’s abstracted away and is optimised for the hardware it’s running on. The command line is still there if I want it, considering Mac has its roots in BSD.

    "Linux is more than a system, it's a community". So true, I feel the same. That's why I start to learn Linux. Maybe I should start my 60-day challenge.

    Your channel is great. Just wish a comment I left on your video about choosing a distro, didn't get removed (probably sent to your spam by TH-cam), 'cause I gave a distro choosing tip in that comment which I thought you would find absolutely fantastic.

    • @JeremysTechChannel
      @JeremysTechChannel  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Sorry about that I didn't remove any comments...thanks for watching! Was a web link involved? That seems to be almost an automatic flag by the TH-cam algos.

    • @Maxume
      @Maxume 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@JeremysTechChannel No problem. I assumed it was TH-cam since there was no other way to talk about the tip than giving the link. I tried writing the link as loose words but still the algorithm flagged it as spam.

What are the issues that you encountered using this laptop?? Also, thanks for the video, it really helped me!

    I been watching most of your videos but missed all the past weeks due to a fire here in Colorado and didn't have internet due to it but its been fun watching them :).. I been using Linux and BSD off and on since 2005.. I have never been able to daily drive it due to the fact I am a gamer and I have always ended up going back to Windows for gaming.. then the Steam Deck was announced and I immediately knew it was a literal game changer for Linux so I set a New Years resolution to ditch windows mostly and daily drive Linux... I have done a bit of distro hoping but think I have landed on EndeavorOS but I have ran Linux as my daily driver since the first of the year so going on 6 months and not going back to windows as a daily driver as I ONLY boot it now to play Halo Infinite but most of my games work in Linux now due to Valve and I love it.

    Most people fail at Linux because they dont want to learn. They are unwilling to learn new software. So that is a double edge sword for Linux, means they have to learn Linux and new software too. I put the kids on Fedora with their new computers and they love it.

    i think ya done good jeremy ..i'm proud of you and glad you did it ..i think you should start a facebook group for linux users .. but maybe with the slant of ..linux for all ..and by that i mean not everybody wants to be a real techie like you are.. i'm sure a lotta us just wanna be end users and will learn as we go from guys like you .. but because we have to .. not cause we really wanna .. but if more guys like you can help us and point the way and make it fun ?? then more of us will continue to watch .. you start that facebook group and i'll be the first member ..and maybe drag a few more people with me ..plus it will help your channel grow.. whaddya think ?? ya wanna ?? i think ya should .. answer questions in the group and show us how on the video .. i think it would be a smash .. think it over ..

    Pieces in Linux we are heavily fragmented as we all use different things and build, Linux is the kernel that make so many people choice's. Fedora 36 is my poison whats yours? Linux is also like Pringles once you POP (OS) you can't stop. lol

    Just came here to say Hell no.
    I've been using Windows, Linux, MacOS (in that order) throughout my life journey.
    With the M1 CPUs I am looking for any way to ditch Windows and Linux.
    I've got a spare M1 Mac mini that I am going to turn into a docker server. Then I can switch my whole lab over to a high performance ARM server.
    Sacrificing the redundancy my ESXis offer are worth it for the low power of the M1 and the performance gains.
    My ESXis are running old hardware hehe..
    Still though...
    Linux for work, Windows for gaming, Mac for productivity and everything else. If I could do the first two things on MacOS I would ditch the rest.

    Awesome people like you are what got me hooked on Linux nearly 15 years ago now when I was completely disappointed with my newly bought copy of Windows Vista. I had this thought one day, what else is there besides Windows and Mac? Ubuntu was the stepping stone that I started with and it was so exciting. It's great to see you be so enthusiastic about OSS and Linux like I am at 40 years old. I get just as excited about Linux updates and milestones now just as much as I did when I first took the plunge. This is the second video of yours I've watched and I'm going to subscribe right now because you are clearly a person that "gets it" when it comes to Linux and you have the right attitude about it. Thanks for sharing. I'm off to watch more of your videos. Have a great day!

    It's great that you really just went for it and stuck it out through all the teething issues!
    I use linux for work, can't get better than that for programming in my opinion but I'm still stuck on window's for gaming due to nvidia issues I ran in to. Hopefully with the open sourcing of the kernel I'll hopefully be 100% linux by next year.

    This is awesome, I had no idea you were new to linux. I have been trying to learn more myself just switched a few months ago so I'm watching things on btrfs and ext4 and wayland and xorg and all sorts and sometimes landed on a few of your videos checking things out. Your excitement and cheeriness is contagious, glad to hear you're going to keep making videos.

    Thanks so much for this channel sir. I have been a GNU Linux user on and of for about 12 years now and I have currently had to use windows for work but after seeing your videos I really am keen to switch back to Linux as my daily driver at home. Please keep up the great work and thank you for sharing your positivity and knowledge with our community.

    Do keep going with this. It's good to see someone who's coming from the perspective of a computer user to supplement the programmers.
    I'm with you on having found an operating system that I love. It's a novel experience for me.

    Great job here, Jeremy! I have really enjoyed watching your journey. Thanks for recording it. The only piece of advice I would give you is that now you are done the 60 day challenge (and a whopping 60 videos to boot!), do continue to produce video content, but don't burn yourself out! It's really easy to do, especially committing to a "one video a day" cadence. Keep up the great work!

    This have been very fun to follow! I hope you continue push out some videos on Linux. I first used Linux (Red Hat 5.2) back in 1998/99, and was using it for several years. Last ten years been on Mac, but as of November last year, I have swapped out macOS and Windows all my 4 computers. Yea nothing is perfect, but man, this is home :D

      Oh! Looking forward to where you go down the tiling window manager rabbit hole ;-) That's been my big life changer in using computers. At first, did not understand shit, and just left it - but a couple months later, started with i3 (i3-gaps specifically), and now using a normal floating window manger/DE is super clunky. And yea I use it for OBS for recording and streaming video, programming, and some graphics like gimp.

      serve my photography/digital printing business pretty well for these awesome 10 years.
      maybe you kids should try to use FLOSS more for REAL productive works to experience the wonder :)
