  • Quick-ish video on how to set up and test your CB09 blade for use.
    30° Blades - for Cutting large fonts and thick materials
    45° Blades - for Cutting general fonts and vinyl film.
    60° Blades - for Cutting very small font & intricate line-art logos
    CB09 Blade: eBay: goo.gl/76Wh9w (I’ve bought several from this seller, as well as many replacement blades. They are high quality and the blades are great)
    CB09 Blade: Amazon amzn.to/2sPTdQ8
    Note that not all CB09 blades are created equal. These are all technically knock-offs of the original Graphtec holder and blades, but as with all knock-offs, some are very well done and made from quality materials... others not so much. Please be careful when using after-market parts with your machine. When in doubt, stop and ask questions. I won't be held responsible for damage done to your machine.

    Wow I can't believe it didn't occur to me just to drag the blade over what I want to cut to test the depth instead of putting it in the machine and taking it out again. So helpful. Thank you!

    Thank you so much for this video! I was on the verge of pulling out my hair and going back to my silhouette ratchet blade, when I decided to check out TH-cam once more for videos on how to actually get in the ballpark area of the blade depth. Your idea of testing by hand before even putting it in the silhouette really helped! I had just started using a new mat that was thicker and stiffer than silhouette's, which caused the settings I had been using to not cut all the way through, I decided instead of spending time to figure out the new settings and then having to do it again with the CB09 blade, I'd just go ahead and figure out the settings for the new blade. I am cutting laminated vinyl matte sticker paper at a depth of 6, it still wasn't deep enough, so I got over zealous with the CB09 blade and gashed my new mat! After watching your video and testing by hand, I was able to get it close enough that it now cuts smoothly and without deep cuts in the mat! Thanks so much!

    Thank you! I received my CB09 in early 2017 but, back then, all the videos and comments bemoaned the amount of time that set-up would take (they did say that once you found that perfect setting, it was gold). I left my blade in a box until today. Following your video, I got a good cut the first try, and a better cut when I decreased force 1 and speed a lot. Weeding still took time (maybe 100 tiny cuts within a 1.5 x 2.75 space), but man was it a nice change!!! THANK YOU!!!!

    • @ElleBeeCreates

      because its a drag blade, it will spin itself so that its moving in the proper direction as it moves across the material. It doesn't matter what direction the blade is facing when you insert it into the machine.

    • @ElleBeeCreates
      @ElleBeeCreates  6 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      You can’t rely on the cap color to indicate the angle. You can look at them to see, the steeper the blade the higher the angle. I use the 45 for daily use, the 60 when cutting tiny fonts or small intricate designs, and the 30 for thick tougher materials like cardstock, glitter, brick HTV. For average everyday cuts I use the 45 which is a “standard” blade angle

    • @ElleBeeCreates

      The blade depth you need will be dependent on the leather you’re using. You’ll need to set that manually. The only settings in the software you really use with this blade is force and speed, which will again depend on the leather you’re using. You may also need to do multiple passes

    • @ElleBeeCreates
      @ElleBeeCreates  10 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      It’s a swivel blade, it rotates freely inside the holder and drags depending on the direction of the cut, there’s no right or wrong way to insert it into the silhouette (same with the silhouette blade - it’s easy to instruct that the fin faces forward but it’s not necessary for proper use).

    • @ElleBeeCreates
      @ElleBeeCreates  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Because the CB09 blade depth is set manually, you’ll have to adjust your cutting force in your machine. I suggest testing it the same as you would for vinyl like in the video and starting a pretty high cutting force due to it being 300gsm. You’ll need to do test cuts while you dial in your blade depth and cutting force. Double cutting may be necessary for a clean cut depending on the quality of your cardstock.

    I have been using my Silhouette cameo for years now only to find out that Silhouette no longer makes ratchet blades. My supplier gave me this blade as an alternative. After they set it up as per your video. I went to try it out on my cutter straight away as I had a huge order on hold, this blade only cuts properly for the first few seconds to a minute, then it starts slipping out. The holder on the cutter does not grip the replacement blade and it slips out in the middle of a cutting job, I wasted a lot of vinyl thinking I am doing something wrong: it only cuts properly at first; if your design is big or there is a lot of information to be cut, it just cuts haphazardly all over the vinyl. I went back to my supplier with my cutter, they insisted it is working after testing it on a small design, then I picked out a bigger design, with more text, then it did the same thing, they couldn't figure out why it did that . Up till now, I am stuck with the useless blade, just praying that my old ratchet blade won't go completely bust before I buy an upgraded cutter:(
