    I love and appreciate your videos, too, like so many others. Although I’m three years after you posted this video, today, I’m going to cut without a mat for the very first time. And yes, I’m sort of new to Cameo 4, but I’m loving it. I’ve had it less than a year, and I let it set unused for several months until I finally got the nerve to use it. I love it!
    Thanks so much!!! 🌹🌹🌹

    Hi Becky, thank you for this straight-to-the-point video! I've had my Cameo 4 for over a year now and I had completely forgotten to use it without the mat. I'm thinking being new I had not mastered inserting the vinyl properly and just resorted to going with the mat, and never went back. I love how you showed going matless without using the vinyl holder, I am definitely going to try that again, this method looks so much easier.

    Just cut out a large 1'x3' sign using your directions. It wasn't easy getting the vinyl lined up in the machine correctly, but I got it. You have to make sure that you're end that you're feeding into the machine is straight and at a 90 degree angle to the sides of the material. If it is, then it will stay straight when you cut it. But I love your tip to run the vinyl through before you cut it. I would have ruined a lot of vinyl without that tip. Thanks!

    Hi Becky, I still have my original Cameo 1. I love it, it has a no mat cut setting. I've never tried it like that. However after watching your video. I'm tempted. Is it possible with the Cameo 1?

    • @DesignBundles
      @DesignBundles  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes! Absolutely! On the Cameo 1, you will just use "Load Media" instead of "Load Mat" on your actual machine. I would still have the software show "No Mat" also, just in case, but it shouldn't matter with the Cameo 1, what will matter is what option you choose when you load the material. I hope this is making sense. Let me know how it goes! ---Becky

    • @DesignBundles
      @DesignBundles  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hey Danni! It sounds like your vinyl may be getting jammed during the cutting process. Make sure the vinyl is flat when all possible and that it isn't curling up into the machine anywhere. This was especially common for me with the Cameo 3. Hope this helps! ---Becky

    • @DesignBundles
      @DesignBundles  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hey there! When I cut vinyl with or without a mat, I just use the presets for Vinyl, Glossy in Silhouette Studio. If you are having trouble using a new mat, you can take a shirt or towel and press it against the sticky side, that will make it less sticky for you. Hope this helps! ---Becky

    • @DesignBundles

      Thanks Susan, I am glad you are enjoying the videos. I don't have anything on those specifically, but I do have a video on helping when you are having trouble cutting, and I believe I talk about these two items, I'll link it below. But the blade number is the actual depth of your blade that is adjusted on the blade itself. If you have an autoblade, the machine will do this for you. The force is the downward pressure of your machine. It usually takes a combination of the two to determine the correct cut settings. Hope this helps! ---Becky

    New to silhouette from Cricut and when I cut without a mat it's not cutting through very well. Almost as if the blade was dull but I've only done a handful of cuts on it. Should I adjust the force higher? Or the number that looks like a dial that is also on the autoblade itself?

    • @DesignBundles
      @DesignBundles  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hey Karla! I would personally start by increasing the force a little at a time, cutting small designs so you don't waste a lot of material. You can adjust the blade, but it is a bigger "jump" so to speak, and can cut through your material. Hope this helps! ---Becky

      @@DesignBundles thanks so much for your reply! ❤️ I usually cut on "more" pressure when I was using cricut. So I think I was just used to super easy weeding. I also was switching between Amazon bought vinyl with thicker backing and the stuff I'd pick up from hobby lobby for short notice stuff so that could have a lot to do with it too. I tried 20 force and it still was a hassle to weed so I put force back to 10 and upped the blade to 2 - and that worked great! 😊

The pretty machines are very tempting, but unless you need to use the rotary blade, the knife blade, or want to explore new materials (all very fun, of course), your Cameo 3 will cut vinyl, cardstock, paper and fabric just as well as a Cameo 4. Hope this helps! ---Becky

      @@DesignBundles Thanks, Becky! Yes, my 3 does all I need it to do. I really appreciate the definitive response. If I ever have a few hundred dollars to spare (because that totally happens, right?), I might upgrade, but until then, I'll stick to my Cameo 3!

    Ive tried cutting with out a mat with no luck. It keeps going side ways. Would the settings cause problems. Im cutting htv on b3 f15 sp 4?

    • @DesignBundles
      @DesignBundles  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hey Samantha! If your vinyl is going sideways, it means your vinyl is coming lose for some reason. I would first check to make sure your vinyl is tucked under the roller nice and tight (give it a tug after loading). Then watch the right side as it's cutting (that's usually the problem side) and see if it is coming lose during cutting, could it be that the vinyl is loaded at a slight angle? See if any of this helps and if you need more troubleshooting ideas, let me know! ---Becky

      I've had this issue and find that it happens when I've accidentally not lowered my roller down (after adjusting the little stops). Once it's lowered again, it feeds just fine. Have you checked that?

    I got free outdoor vinyl with my new cameo 4 and I can't seem to cut through it at all 😂 I've been experimenting and finally got it to cut on the mat on number 3, 30 force, 4 speed and 3 passes. Cut right through to the mat but it's the first one that actually went through the material using the autoblade. I'm heartbroken for my cutting mat haha what on earth is wrong with this outdoor vinyl?

      Hey Eveleen! Sorry to hear you are having trouble cutting. Normal "outdoor vinyl" should cut fine, but I have a video on helping to trouble-shoot cutting problems on your Cameo that may help, I'll link it below. Hope this helps! ---Becky

    • @DesignBundles

      Hey Erica! I'm sorry to hear about your trouble cutting. Have you checked to see how tight your roller is locking down. When the bar is locked, you shouldn't be able to move your mat at all. If it's lose or is coming lose during cutting, I would contact Silhouette America's customer support for a warranty claim. Hope this helps! ---Becky

    I did everything 100% exactly how you said and my blade doesn’t cut. You can barley see a small indent but it never cuts the whole way. I know it’s not a defect because this is the second Cameo 4 I got. What am I doing wrong?

    • @DesignBundles

      Hey Paulette! I'm sorry to hear about your troubles. Definitely check your roller bar (make sure it's locked) and your roller (make sure it's not coming out of place). The Cameo 3 models had a batch or design flaw where the rollers would come out of the slots when the machine was in use, so many crafters glued or taped the roller in place. Hope this helps! ---Becky

    Do you prefer the Cameo or Cricut best?

    • @DesignBundles
      @DesignBundles  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      That's a very complicated question LOL. I do think I'm partial to Silhouette Studio, I think the software is very robust and more functional than Cricut Design Space. However, once I purchased a Cricut, I actually think it has better cutting results, but only by a smidge. I usually recommend potential buyers to download the software for each and see which one feels more natural. Hope this helps! ---Becky
