All within a margin of error based on certain metrics changing, like Pixel downgrading to 4G, iPhone running at 40% higher FPS in one task, etc. I doubt 35 minute difference between the best and worse is a deal-breaker especially as most of us are not as hard on our phones. Certainly, as I expected, the Exynos, in certain tasks is a great hand-warmer in winter, and despite the Knights continuing to say it is great, it has this very big problem as heat will kill phones in the end, so long-term one to avoid, especially if you push it like this. Not as much a problem for light users. Also. noteworthy was how Samsung misleads with the last 10%, there is definitely something going on as I see this in every test, whereas phones like OnePlus, OPPO and iPhone seem to last much longer; naughty Samsung. Those that say iPhone stays at 100% too long, that is because iPhone battery are usually above stated mAh, between 3-5% from articles I read. So, they have to eat into that before the drop form 100%. Samsung, amazingly, and never mentioned by Samsung-affiliated channels are the opposite with 3-5% less mAh than stated, and may explain why the last 10% sucks.
while im disappointed that the iphone is as bad as exynos samsung, its infuriating how samsung phones just overheat and drain their last few percentages in 2-3 mins. samsung needs to have genuine percentages for gods sake
I think the ungenuine percentages are with the iPhone. They make the last percentages last longer because that's when you start keeping track of your percentages. Therefore you will have the impression that the battery lasts longer.
@@Ruffalooidk which phone do you have, but I use an exynos s21 fe and have the same issue that the fellow who write the first comment. I think is to take care of battery, so you always have a bit more in case you can't charge it for like weeks (all phones saves some percentage for this, but in Samsungs is too much) And btw, my phone and others with exynos like s20 fe had problems with overheating. Once I was shooting in 4k and it just quit camera app and corrupted the video because of overheating (it was like 22° Celsius of ambient temp.) So, in my experience, I don't recommend exynos at all.

All of humanity should boycott Samsung for Exynos and its modem! It both makes people suffer and has a pricing policy like the others! The whole world should put greedy Samsung in its place!
I looked at all the individual results again and found some interesting facts: - Google Meet and 4k 60fps video for 30min consumes almost identical energy on S24 Ex (17/16%) and Pixel 9 (15/14%) - Google Meet consumes less energy than 4k 60fps video on S24 QSD (12/14%) - Pixel 9 uses by far the least energy in benchmarks - IPhone and Pixel 9 perform the worst in the outdoor GPS test - S24 QSD destroys the competition in TH-cam efficiency and is 2nd place at worst in every other test except 8h sleep (3rd), winning usually by 1-2%
You can disable adaptive connectivity under settings -> network and internet. Its a wild ride sometimes it boosts battery life with 5G,BT,Wifi enabled and sometimes it is buggy causing battery to die within 4h SOT.
This is so true. TH-cam is the best place to run battery. I hate when the other TH-camrs do social media lol. I spend the day on TH-cam and it gets hot.
@@carminecastaldo1 That maybe wrong. The Pixel 9 has an adaptive refresh rate, either 60 or 120hz depending on what you are doing. The Pixel 9 Pro can go down to 1Hz. So that is not an excuse as it should have run most of these apps at 60hz.
I just got a second hand S23 at the start of this month. After coming from 6S Plus and 11 Pro Max, Im finally able to try a compact android phone. One of the best battery tests I've seen. It uses mobile data instead of wifi and includes 8 hours of standby. The Pixel 9 did pretty well compared to the others. The most disappointing part is how hot all of the phones got. Those temperatures make me want to never record 4K video or do a video call. All of them got AT LEAST 10°F too hot.
About that pixel 9 5g throttling, just turn off the power saving mode (yes it was on, you can see the plus sign on its battery indicator), it turns on automatically when phone reaches 20%, have a nice day.
We criticize Apple for not bringing innovation, but most of the time it doesn't bring it until it is useful. But other companies are not like that. Samsung should not have used Exynos in flagship models at least until they reached a level where they no longer victimize customers. This is not valuing the customer.
It would be very helpful to show the battery difference after each test, so we don't have to remember the previous value for all devices 😉 Also, could you try another conference app, maybe Microsoft Teams or simply WhatsApp? We've seen this insane drain issues in Google Meet on Exynos now multiple times and it really looks like there is something going really wrong with the app.

Please also take into account that having been on iOS 18 I can say performance and battery is not optimised. I suspect Apple ran out of time and focused on more pressing issues in iOS 18. Using iOS 18.1, these seem to be addressed and performance has increased along with battery life. I am assuming this test is on a stable release not a beta. Also, the iPhone apps are getting updated constantly so app optimisation should improve especially in TH-cam as watching on Safari I get about 25-33% more battery life than in the YT app. Then again YT is owned by Google so they have no incentive to make it work the best.
You're right but it doesn't make sense to argue with those Samsung kids. All they want to read is "Samsung always wins, best, king" etc. They don't care about facts. The S24 Ultra f.e.has improved a lot in battery life since release date. That's when they praised Samsung's software optimization.
Same logic applies on Pixel, not just your iPhone. Android 15 brings worthy under the hood improvements especially in battery management which in theory should have launched with Pixel 9 if they weren't released two months early this year (Android 15 is still launching at its usual time line regardless). Having been on QPR beta, both performance and battery is more stable than stable A14 also.
@@androguyy I agree but I suspect the delay in android 15 is because the pixel nines have already got the firmware for those improvements and therefore Google does not want to highlight this and instead to use the pixel nine improvements to sell them. Where are now the Apple Fanboys claiming iOS is a Masterpiece of Optimization? And imagine if the 16 would have a 120Hz Panel which would reach 80hz a lot of the Time. This is why Samsung is #1
It's just normal that the first released software version of a new phone has battery issues. Best example for that is the S24U. Compare the results when it was released with todays results. Your 60hz argument is simply bs. The iPhone 16 display works always with 60hz while Samsungs 120Hz Panel display technology is adaptive, meaning it can dynamically adjust the refresh rate based on the on-screen content. For instance, when you're reading something on your phone, the display doesn't need to refresh as much. So, the system will automatically tone down the refresh rate, preventing the 120Hz display feature from consuming a lot of battery.

Any test on any phone should be done with the phones standing upright because all phones are designed to release their heat through both the screen and the back panel. Having the phones laying flat on their backs ensures no airflow for the back panel whatsoever. In saying that though, i guess Having the phones in a case would change things a bit. Perhaps a test with the phones upright in minimalist thin non chunky cases would be the way to go. Just an idea i guess.

@pizzablender but I can't understand, I use 5g on my phone all the time and the temperature is okay and battery drain is comparable to wifi for me (24+ exynos) as with performance and battery life they seem to have improved for me with updates, also on paper the snapdragon and exynos aren't that different yet seem to yield dramatically different results which baffles me, I think it's all to do with optimisation

One thing is clear that Exynos is getting improved and did great here probably next year it might become as good as snapdragon if samsung will work on it more.

Great summary :)
So true 💪

I think is to take care of battery, so you always have a bit more in case you can't charge it for like weeks (all phones saves some percentage for this, but in Samsungs is too much)
And btw, my phone and others with exynos like s20 fe had problems with overheating. Once I was shooting in 4k and it just quit camera app and corrupted the video because of overheating (it was like 22° Celsius of ambient temp.)

I've been watching you since the beginning of the year. And I bought myself a Samsung s24 Snapdragon 👍.
I looked at all the individual results again and found some interesting facts:
- Google Meet and 4k 60fps video for 30min consumes almost identical energy on S24 Ex (17/16%) and Pixel 9 (15/14%)
- Google Meet consumes less energy than 4k 60fps video on S24 QSD (12/14%)
- Pixel 9 uses by far the least energy in benchmarks
- IPhone and Pixel 9 perform the worst in the outdoor GPS test
- S24 QSD destroys the competition in TH-cam efficiency and is 2nd place at worst in every other test except 8h sleep (3rd), winning usually by 1-2%
You can disable adaptive connectivity under settings -> network and internet.
Its a wild ride sometimes it boosts battery life with 5G,BT,Wifi enabled and sometimes it is buggy causing battery to die within 4h SOT.

Apple is really careful. And I appreciate that
So why they are not putting bigger battery and faster charging support??😅...
It would be very helpful to show the battery difference after each test, so we don't have to remember the previous value for all devices 😉
Also, could you try another conference app, maybe Microsoft Teams or simply WhatsApp? We've seen this insane drain issues in Google Meet on Exynos now multiple times and it really looks like there is something going really wrong with the app.

Perhaps a test with the phones upright in minimalist thin non chunky cases would be the way to go.

Unpopular opinion: just think for a moment how many smartphone brands and designers produce their own SoC, modems, have own foundry, etc? Maybe Samsung cuts down costs by not including SD8G3 on Galaxy S24 series, but that doesn't mean in-house Exynos is inferior, actually it's a beast in terms of performance; stop complaining about battery life, its' usage and drainage is different from user to user.
Why do most Samsung "power-users" implicitly want Snapdragon, and Qualcomm in particular, to monopolize mobile SoC market. Why not have a choice.
