      Agreed. In fairness I only started playing around with (Slic3r style) when PrusaSlicer was launched, but after a few months? with it, I can't believe I missed that in PrusaSlicer!

      @Suicide Kyd They developed that slicer for their printers. I understand why they only maintain profiles for their own printers, but they support custom profiles which is a good effort. They have no obligation to support competitors

    I used modifier meshes to make a anniversary gift for my mom and dad as shape of laying heart with top cut off and no top layers and infill and then decorated the interiror with only 4 layers or honeycomb infill. Used Scarlett Red PETG Prusament. Turned out really pretty and my mom loved it. The modifier meshes are really powerful tools.

    Excellent video, new to Prusaslicer,, old hand at Cura. Some struggles to get the program running with an Ender 3 printer, but once configured it's good. This video has some powerful techniques anyone can use to modify prints and be very creative. I easily changed a product we make by modifyiing and removing skin layers. Very, very nice slicer. Usability and performance are great. Moving away from S3D. A workflow suggestion please - make the planes for layer height changes movable by the mouse, like you have for cut. The precision of a numerical entry is great and essential but getting the planes close to where they are needed at the start is tedious ... lots of numeric entry until the final value is achieved. (using prusaslicer 2.2).

    This is a great feature. Another one I would really like to see is the ability to select a specific extruder for support materials (I use an MMU2S). It would be great if I had the option to force all my supports to be a specific color, or if I want to use dissolvable supports only. Maybe this is already an option but it's difficult to figure out how to use it?

    These techniques are GREAT for putting a hole in re-sized decorative models to become jewelry. I also find saving SAE size cylinders with 0 infill and 0 layer thickness to put holes in mechanical objects where metric sizes don't fit available US hardware sizes. Just Load as subtools or add Modifier Part by editing object! Newest PrusaSlicer is great advertising of the all-around Quality I got from just purchasing a high-quality Prusa 3D Printer. Been waiting for the layer height modifiers. However I have a problem with mesh modifiers. When changing the print speed for a portion of the model (overhang), it works as expected except for adding extra perimeters and basically treating the mesh modifier as a "part" with visible parting lines in the outer perimeters of the model and making it ugly by adding seams. Internally it makes less of a difference in this instance, but it would be nice to have a mesh modifier that can affect speed without messing up the rest of the settings or treating the borders of a modifier as a seperate shell. Being able to control speed for overhangs and limit it to the specific area instead of slowing down whole layers would change the game in a significant way.

    Also, perhaps a test file that repeatedly goes through load to nozzle cycle of MMU with different temperatures and cooling moves? That is a different subject but it is something that interests me.

    Another thing you can use the modifier meshes for (I've used it to good effect before) is if you only want to print a part of your model. This could be because that's all you want, or you want to carefully tune some settings for one part with multiple iterations but don't want to waste filament with the rest of the model. What you will want to do is encase the parts you don't want to print in mesh modifiers, and then set perimeters, top & bottom layers, and infill for the modifiers to zero.
    (I wonder if the reverse would work... Set the model perimeters, top & bottom layers, and infill for the model to zero, then set the modifier mesh perimeters, top & bottom layers, and infill to what you want for the print. I wonder if this would just print the part of the model within the modifier mesh... I'll have to experiment when I get home...)

    • @Prusa3D
      @Prusa3D  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Good idea!

  •  3 ปีที่แล้ว

    I'd like a modifier setting to force its overlap in the layer to be the first thing executed, or enable the "print infill before perimeters" to be part of the modifier's Infill settings. I'm trying to create a zone inside my 0% infill print following a color change to allow the printhead to come back up to full pressure. Adding more perimeters makes the exterior perimeter on the first layer back bulge a bit and calculating some sort of compensation for that would be too costly. I don't have an MMU/purge towers...I'm doing it by hand on a single extruder. Any other ideas for this problem I'm all ears!

  • @noahpan496

    Has anyone encountered an issue with bridging with the gyroid infill pattern? When I print with the gyroid infill pattern, the gap isnt filled when the wave pattern transitions from the x direction to y direction. I was wondering if you can double the width of the gyroid pattern.

    You can use this feature to also turn just about any object into a planter with a built in media filter!
    Just use a modifier to first generate the space where the soil and plant will reside, then use a second modifier to remove top, bottom and side perimeters using a shape that passes through the bottom of the soil basin to the very bottom of the print. On the same modifier add infil changes such as higher/lower % or using cubic/gyroid/3d honeycomb to generate the 3d printed media filter!
    Now, when your print comes off the bed it'll have a neat built in planter that has a controlled drain with a built in erosion prevention media!
    Did I mention you can use this to make 3D printed media filters? :D

      Yep, the limit is per layer, if you add regular color changes, you could have more than 5 colors per model.

    I'm going to go look this software up myself, so don't call me lazy for requesting a link. It just seems to me that a link to downloading the software would be a good idea to make it convienient and further promote it. :-) ...now to see if they have a native linux version :-)

      That was easy. I started exploring by clicking on the Learn more: link :-) ...linux they have :-) ... I'd still put the word "download" with a link somewhere here but it's not my youtube channel :-)

    I love using modifiers, the only thing I really miss though, is being able to set a specific part to have a Brim. A bit of a bummer it's a global toggle only.

    Why do you do this to me? Now I gotta learn PrusaSlicer all over again :(

    i think this can be done in Cura as well, but this is waaaaaaay easier

    why not just be able to select surfaces you want to modify rather than messing with moving and resizing modifer shapes

    When I found what Prusa Slicer can do, I ditched Cura and simplyfy3D.

    Pěkné, ale vase mode to neumí. :D + když tam dám modifikátor kde budu chtít 2-3 perimetry klasicky a zapnu vase mode, tak to prostě nejde, a nejde to ani po smazání modifikátoru nebo modelu. :D

    • @Prusa3D
      @Prusa3D  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      To ani jít nemůže. Vase mode nemá klasické vrstvy, tiskne se jedna kontinuální linka/spirála. Kdyby měly v některé části být 2-3 perimetry, tak už to nemůže být kontinuální.
      Šlo by ale nastavit jen jeden perimetr a nulový infill, takový "vase mode lite" a pak by ten modifikátor měl normálně fungovat :)

    • @RCMCPisky
      @RCMCPisky 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@Prusa3D proč by to nemělo jít? Prostě to pojede klasicky, pak v nějaké vrstvě se to přepne a bude to začínat jako když to začíná na plechu, pak v nějaké vrstvě to zase skončí a od té vrstvy to hodí zase klasicky.
      PS: co ten smazaný ale stále aktivní modifikátor? 😀

    No reason to ever use simplify 3d again :)
    but one issue I have with the PrusaSlicer is that my mouse is SOOO fast. like when I rotate and pan in the scene for some reason it's suuuuper fast
    UPDATE: I'm printing the coolest cutest case ever ^~^
