- This is a series where I casually go over what’s going on in my life here as an expat in Saigon, Vietnam. In this episode, my dad, gf, and I visit the Hanoi Temple of Literature and the Tay Ho or West Lake.
There’s really not much of a plan to these videos, but hopefully they are entertaining and give you a bit more of an insight of what life is like here as an American living in Ho Chi Minh City.
Thanks for watching! I hope you enjoyed this travel/expat vlog.

Shout out to @ChrissieSM for guessing the exact time of 3:43pm! The exact time has only been guessed once in the past if I'm not mistaken...I may need to make a special hall of fame for that
The museum seems very serene and peaceful...3:45
You should take your dad to the John McCain statue. Maybe you did already but very interesting that they have a statue of him where he got shot down at the lake.
The Temple of Literature is always so tranquil and relaxing. I think I have been there four times, three of which were in the rain.
That tea spot was such a perfect way to close out.
Aww...you should have turned the car around and stalk Max to learn all his secrets. He's a super nice guy, so I'm sure he wouldn't mind letting you follow/shadow him a bit to pick up pointers. Love that cafe at the end. I bet it's gorgeous on a sunny day.
*_Hello Big Time Bentley và Family hạnh phúc vui tươi_* !

That spot is pretty nice and interesting, thxs fe showing Hanoi, I haven’t been up in northern Vietnam, maybe a visit my next trip, enjoy the rest of ye time up there

Loving the videos with your dad!!! Time guess....3:11
I really enjoy your videos with your dad and gf. good luck on your channel. I hope it gets 1/10th as big as Max McFarlin.
I live in TayHo so it was nice to see you in the neighbourhood. I agree with you that TayHo's traffic is very "intense".
How do you like living in Hanoi?
@@BigTimeBentley Hanoi is good although it is not as developed and modern as Ho Chi Minh. Three years straight of American bombing in “Operation Rolling Thunder” had a heavy impact. One of my work colleagues even has the scars of Agent Orange, which comes from chemical carpet bombing 50 years ago.
@@scogginsscoggins Pretty sure Hanoi is just as developed as HCMC, most tourists just like hanging out in the Old Quarter vs the more modern parts of the city. Western vloggers love visiting Hanoi due to it's history, architecture, and tradition.
@@doodahgurlie The weather is better too in Hanoi. Less humid than HCMC, and there are cooler seasons in Hanoi where sweaters are required.
Hi Bentley, my name is Nick, and I've been following your channel this past months, especially Vietnam, because that is where I'm from. The funny thing happen today is my family and I was in Maui, road to Hana and one of your dad friend help take a picture for us and I recognized your dad and said to him, "that's Bentley dad". We took a picture together and had a chat along the way to the bamboo forest. Really enjoy your contents, and it was really nice to meet your dad. Tell him I said hi.
That's awesome! Yeah my dad told me and he sent me a picture. Really cool that you recognized him all the way out in Maui. Hope you enjoy your trip there and thanks for the comment and saying hi!
@BigTimeBentley That's awesome too! I think the last video I watched was the Hanoi prison of war museum couple of days before heading to Maui and than bumping into him was surreal. Keep up the great work and looking forward to more of your contents.
4:20 pm
The cafe looked really nice with the view
yeah it was a good spot...unfortunately got stuck in some really heavy traffic on the way back in that Tay Ho area
@@BigTimeBentley I know that terrible traffic there in Hanoi
Max is pretty cool. He's been in Vietnam for so long. If anything related to food or tour, he ll take it. I saw his videos taking people out trying ear-wax cleaning and street-massage.
yeah would be great to make a video with him I like his videos
Cool,waiting to see your dad’s tattoo.If he got one😊
video upcoming
@@BigTimeBentley I got mine here in Ho Chi Minh. Back in January. When I was visiting.😎
Beautiful place
yeah it is!
Regarding the word beer; the French expression 'mettre en bière' means to put in coffin. Bière, of course, also means beer.
You father had to drink the fountain of youth once! He looks younger than you at times 😂😂😂
He looks younger than his age, but definitely does not look younger than Tyler.
Don't be cruel to Tyler . He looks good❤
