I have a similar tear in the middle of my deer skin black leather duster. I love the coat it’s so soft but I think it’s softness that make it so hard to fix.
That was very interesting! I am wondering... how long will this repair last? Is it a permanent fix, really? I would imagine that placing a leather patch under the tear and gluing it to the tear on the inside might be a more sturdy fix? Thanks for giving me some feed back!
Good question! This fix is kind of permanent. But also depends upon the use of jacket. There may be a need of polish after every 6 months or so. That's a good suggestion too. Using a patch will also work. As some tears may having missing parts. But will need the same producer with extra attention.
Do you sell the 'Simple Leather Jacket Kit' as referenced above (used in the video)? Apologies if I've missed reading an obvious answer here on the page. Thank you.
Excellent video, the best I have reviewed for repairs . What vinyl/leather glue was used, I looked at the link on Amazon but it didn't appear to be the same product?
When you sand it, only go in one direction with the sandpaper and not back-and-forth. That's what I did and so far, so good. For example, if you glue the left side of the flap somewhat over the right side of the flap, then sand it left to right and vice versa.
Try to source a patch of fabric from a piece of clothing of the same material made in the same period, otherwise the repair is going to swell or shrink😆
Your video is the best repair i have seen so far
thank you :)

Glad it helped. The items were locally purchased. The best alternatives are linked.
Can I remove the buttons on the collar and do this and make it look like there was no buttons in the first place?
Great job!
Thanks!

@@craftideas_what would this cost to repair by a professional?
bravo ☺
I tried this but when I try sand the filler it cracks again but it looks bulged if I don’t sand it
use it with soft hands.
