very true gohan and future trunks specifically were initially much more compelling characters than goku and vegeta are to this day. it’s understandable as to why they got shafted but still it wouldve been an interesting series with those two as the main characters i think
Instead, Zamasu joins a Godtube channel where they stream a dnd game...in which his character is suspiciously like Goku Black. Everyone loves his lawful yet evil roleplaying though.
Gotta admit, I expected this to be a typical "Future Gohan survives his final battle and goes back in time with Trunks" plot, but it turned into something much better. This was the story that got me interested in your what ifs, and you did a fantastic job.
@@wholesome_masochist4113 No no, its actually not a Toriyama forgot situation this time. Japan ITSELF has issue with him having only one arm, as I believe it would spike the age rating up to M over there, and thats not the age range DBZ was intended for as far as I know.

Even if the gravity increases to 1.1 it wouldn't matter if the strongest man on the planet stepped in there. The spine would essentially come out of your rectum before your actually flesh hit the floor.
You know looking back, I'm unsure how to feel about Gohan being the one to gain Ultra Instinct. He seemed like the one who was most adverse to recklessly fighting and wanted to conserve his stamina. The fact he's like Vegeta in terms of being more calculating and "Thinking too much", kinda puts him further from Ultra Instinct imo.
not nessesarly... he's a perfect middle ground between goku and vegeta in terms of approach, and has more discipline and focus.... i can see him doing it.
@@raylenn4444 Not to say he could never do it, just that between him and Goku, being caught in that black hole, it feels like Goku still woulda been the one to unlock UI, even if he's weaker than in the OG series. To me the *way* Goku achieved Ultra Instinct felt more personal to his mindset, the will to keep on fighting even when his mind clocks out. The way it was achieved didn't reflect anything beyond pure combat, and wasn't him fighting to protect others or save his Universe. It was just pure instinct for a lack of better words, a result of Goku's passion of fighting for fighting's sake. Gohan on the other hand has always been established as someone who fights for the good of others, which isn't a bad thing of course, but it doesn't seem like something his body would be able to pick up on it's own unlike raw movement. If anything it feels like Gohan's mind was the most occupied in the tournament than it had been for the whole What If. All the stress with his dad pulling the trigger for the tournament to be possible, team members seemingly undermining the plan in wanting to split up and fight, Piccolo and Caulifla critiquing his judgement, the weight of saving Universe 7 on his shoulders. To me these conditions really made it feel too suboptimal for getting Ultra Instinct. I DO see Gohan achieving it through diligent training though, similarly to Beerus, the normal way. Either way, I guess this is just my personal take on it.
@@dandyspacedandy i mean... all that stress could also have the opposite effect, with the black hole making him snap , his mind blank, knowing only that he has to fight. wich could trigger it.
@@raylenn4444 I mean, Gohan doesn't really seem to be the one to rely on his "Instincts", Compaired to Goku, he is much smarter and likely would use his brains to win his fights
To be fair, I'm not really sure what _could_ be done with Gohan in a situation like this. I think it would have to be something wholly original, since neither Ultra Instinct nor Ego would fit him too well, he's too wound up to use UI properly, but has enough control over his emotions for UE to not work for him. Thinking about it, Gohan always was someone who was stuck between two sides, being the first Human-Saiyan hybrid, and both someone whose wrath empowered him, but also a cold, calculating fighter. Really, it should be something that plays to that idea, a controlled burn of rage that plays into his hybrid genes' massive adaptability and potential, kinda like a variable that can add *or* substract, move forward, stay still, or retreat, depending on the circumstances.
@@hinokagusuchi7040 I think Zamasu would actually warm up to Gohan… he’d be better mannered around the Gods than Goku was, and his mystic form could be seen as a step towards becoming a Kai himself in a way that doesn’t offend Zamasu’s sensibilities, or at least offends him less than the Super Saijan God form.
If the sensu bean was split into two you would be healed fully but only fill your stomach for just 5 days instead of 10 though I do think the healing abilities would be a bit diminished
I swear I’ve seen half-Senzu as items in certain Dragon Ball games, and what they did was heal you halfway, but I think there _are_ moments in canon where characters are given damaged or split Senzu and seem to recover. In fact, didn’t Goku split a Senzu for Krillin and Gohan during the Nappa fight? They both seemed to be fully healed.
Man, you know what would be Wack? Imagine if Goku learned how to shapeshift like Puar and Oolong early on. How much could that possibly change over the entire series? Would it allow Vegito to negate the effects of Buu's Candy Beam on himself? Would Goku be able to cut Vegeta's Tail immediately during the Saiyan Saga fight? What antics could that even unleash?
@@christians8821 because they were side characters in a show about beating people up with your fists and later on your spirit energy. we'd need a whole frickin reboot at this point to go back and touch on it.
Fr, after the Buu Saga he could've been such a badass character but they wanted him to become a scholar, hopefully Goten fills that role now that Gohan can't

He can still be strong and only need to fight when absolutely necessary, in fact that was the EXACT promise he made to his father so...?
When MasakoX asked if you could cut the senzu in half well, you actually can because in the anime goku split the senzu in half when the were fighting Nappa
@@jonathanlamorand731 rest assured this scene happens in the manga as well and is not something that got changed in translation for dramatic effect. Splitting a senzu is in the original work \o/
I like this what if more than the original timeline because it makes more sense for him to have survived and that’s what I like so you get a thumbs up great video
@@tercial actually according to the Daizenshuu even half a bean heals you completely, it even has the ability to regrow limbs. So that's just a small nitpick, but it does negate a few issues with the what ifs
@@tercial yeah, it is which is why I never understood why they didn't just split the beans all of the time. Future Gohan could have split one with future Trunks and got his arm back, there would have been enough for everyone after Goku gave Cell a full one and the Saiyans could go on training for much longer without stopping. From what I've been able to find, however, the beans being cut up do have a drawback: a full bean will provide enough nourishment to cover 10 full days, but when it's divided into pieces, it gets incrementally smaller. Half a bean = 5 days and a quarter bean only provides 2.5 days and quarter beans don't heal people correctly.
This was actually the best what if I’ve heard with plenty of twists that didn’t fall too in line with the original. Especially with jiren winning. Amazing job
I feel like for the Tournement of Power, you could have used the Manga's version of why it happens (besides Goku reminding Zeno about the Tournement). That being, both Zenos (in this case one Zeno) were getting tired of watching 12 Universes are were planning on erasing the 8 universes with the lowest ... what was it again... mortal score? Or something like that. When Goku reminded Zeno about the Tourney, this actually gave one Universe a chance to avoid erasure. The Manga version is a stark contrast to the Anime, where there was no reason for the tourney, nor was there a reason for the erasure of the universes that lost. Because of this, Manga version of Goku was not seen nor put out as a villain in the way Anime version was. I actually like the Manga's version way more. Would have been interesting to see that version here.

I think you should of put Cell in the tournament as it is shown that he could reach his perfect form just getting more powerful I.E. he could train for it.
@@andrewengelman3544 No but he got a massive zenkai after he blew himself up which turned him into his perfect form. Also I wrote this awhile ago so I don't exactly agree with it now but I see what I was trying to say. Which was that Semi Perfect Cell turned into Perfect Cell without the need of Android 18.
@@block1506 The only reason he returned as Perfect Cell after losing 18 wasn't because of the Zenkai boost. It was because of programming in his cells storing the form and power away, for such a situation as what happened to him in the Cell Saga.
Bulma knows who King Kai is in this timeline after the Freeza saga. Bulma could have figured out a way to contact King Kai so he could give them the location of New Namek where Bulma & company could wish on the Namekian dragonballs.
I really don't think Gohan has the mind to achieve Ultra Instinct. He is waaaay too strategic, like Vegeta, they'd have to find their own way around it. Goku has it cause he doesn't think about his movements.
The thing about the senzu beans, if their recovery was based on the amount of bean consumed then wouldn't they have to eat more for more grievous injuries? From all I've seen, they are 'magical' and just getting enough of it in them for their bodies to notice should be enough
Nope, one senzu gives 100% health recovery for what the body is capable of doing, plus 10 days of feeding. When Goku gives half senzu to each Kuririn and Gohan in the sayan saga in the manga, they both recover partially and retreat from the fight after being told to do so. What could be possible under these considerations is that a person returns to full health with less than a whole bean if they are just lightly injured at the time. That alone gives tactical narrative options for a bunch of very interesting what-ifs in my opinion
As for the 10 days of food mentioned, Goku got hungrry sooner in the manga, probably for having a different need and Karin-sama quoting expected value for humans. Yajirobe also tried to eat a handful of beans at once and got stuffed round feeling sick for being so full.
I always wanted a movie following Vegeta and his final battle with the Androids, would have loved to hear Future Vegetas speech and having one final battle, also to see the others fight too, and although lose all of them even Yamcha fight till their last breath as I think the future Z Fighters were most likely a lot more braver, even when fighting against all odds.
From the DBWiki: During the Saiyan Saga, upon returning to the mortal realm, Goku received two Senzu Beans from Korin, one of which he ate to recover from his long travel down Snake Way. The second Senzu Bean was split in two, retaining enough potency in both halves to heal up Gohan and Krillin respectively, amazing the Saiyan invaders I knew it had been done in the show, so there we go, halves do work just less effective
About the whole godform thing im really confused why anyone would think that half saiyand cant go super saiyan god it only makes sense after all they can go super saiyan and great ape (assuming they have a tail) so i dont see why they wouldnt be able to touch another saiyan form

Broly still on vampa I still say this is a sad end. Or maybe this can be Revisited in a different way of a spin off so hopefully we will see future Broly with future Gohan.
You name a good point about Goku being distant from family and friends dur to his saying nature, but what if it was the room of spirit and time, bordering insanity, that shut that part of him off?
When you think about it. The main timeline we see in the show is actually an alternate timeline. The original timeline is future Trunks' timeline since it already happened.
I know the Into and part 1 are pretty old but pointing to the Senzu bean thing, I think in either Battle of Z or some other game you could obtain half a Senzu to be used as a minor healing/revive item
Taking those dastardly Androids out the picture, Future Gohan had potential to be an extremely powerful warrior! This idea was explored during Dragon Ball Heroes: Galaxy Mission many years ago. It was the first time that Gohan(in ANY timeline) had achieved Super Saiyan 3.
All though I like this idea I think they would still go back in time, Gohan wouldn't want his past self to go through what he did and would ask bulma to let him go back anyway to avoid the trauma the team had gone through
The hardest question: cant multiple senzu plants be planted? Nothing says it cant but my only reason it didnt happen because: 1. Korin didnt need to plant another one since, he and yajirobi almost always stayed up there, they never had to use the beans for physical healing, 2. If a company found a bean and farmed it then most industries would go bankrupt and humanity will eventually depend on the beans since if it went world wide there would not be any hospital, the technology would not exist and doctors wouldnt be a thing, 3. It cant be plant, the original senzu plant is the only one to exist and if it dies it dies, even though the dragon team could have wished for like 1000 senzu beans but then Goku and Vegeta could fight for multiple years nonstop and exploit so much zenkai boosts to the point no villian would stand a chance
You know, since your stories are finishing one after another, wouldn't it be an idea to publish your stories as an audio book on spotify or something? I mean listening to them on spotfiy while driving to work or something would be neat :D
Technically Trunks is responsible for creating at least 3 of the time rings. 1 for him going back initially, 2 when Cell came to our timeline, and potentially 3 when Trunks destroyed the Cell in his timeline preventing Cells timeloop (much like when Beerus created a timering by destroying Zamasu and breaking his time loop)

Questions I've always wondered about is if the Supreme Kai resurrect people, since it is their job to rebuild the universe I would guess that would also include creating new species so was it possible for them to have the ability of Resurrection and if so could the spring tie bring back the Goku of the future timeline
I agree with most of this just one thing. I doubt Gohan would reach Ultra Instinct, it’s not a simple power up. There’s a reason why Goku was the one to reach the transformation, and why it’s currently exclusive to himself among mortals. That’s because it’s easier for Goku to let go of thought and allow his body to take over. And as you have stated many times in this video, Gohan is a thinker and works out what he should do. He’s more like Vegeta when he fights than his father. I know we want Gohan to be the hero of the story but it just doesn’t make sense
In a way, I think him being a thinker is the reason why he'd be able to achieve it. Whis had been trying to teach Goku but he didn't seem to take it in, whereas Gohan on the other hand would probably understand the theory behind it. Yeh it's a bit fan servicey, but it can work.
@@DocumentarianWeady if thats all there was to it, anyone could do it. It's like any martial arts form, just very advanced. You need to understand how it works to use it effectively. It's different for Goku because main character, but Whis even said he was trying to teach Goku Ultra Instinct. Probably indirectly, but that would best for him. Gohan being more academic would probably have a harder time reaching the mindset needed for it, but he would quickly learn the basics and likely have a much deeper understanding of how the power works, probably avoiding the whole exploding thing Goky went through.
I'm happy I found someone who actually makes reasonable what ifs. Some people really be making these trashy what ifs, that make no sense basically making your own story. And when someone says something about it people are like "It's called a what if". I know it's called a what if but yourvmaking your own story.
in all technicality a what if is someone's own story that's separate from the canon if its not at least slightly separate from the canon then its not a what if so the point still stands if your what if is not your own story then its just the original story (or at least a copy of the original story) and not a what if even Masako x himself "makes his own story" that makes "no sense"
I'm really liking this so far! I do have a point to make now that I've reached 57:51 though; I disagree that Goku would let Gohan take the blame for the tournament if he was standing right there - ESPECIALLY if Gohan just got punched in the face for it. Goku would absolutely fess up to bringing up the tournament, probably saying something about how Beerus shouldn't be such a "scaredy cat" and how it's just one tournament - similar to what he just told Gohan. Anyway, going to watch more now!
Manga version of DBS didn't have Super Saiyan Blue Kaioken. Goku just developed a strategy of going from ssg to ssb to help speed up his reactions against Hit. They could've still earned Hit's respect
I like the story, I don’t like the idea of Ultra Instinct from Dragon Ball. It limits us to how strong they can become. It makes us wonder whats beyond Ultra Instinct, or if Ultra Instinct is the last of it. A Technique or Form that cannot be touched and attacks with the hardest of blows, whats to stop Goku from using UI over and over again.

@@hinokagusuchi7040 I think Zamasu would actually warm up to Gohan… he’d be better mannered around the Gods than Goku was, and his mystic form could be seen as a step towards becoming a Kai himself in a way that doesn’t offend Zamasu’s sensibilities, or at least offends him less than the Super Saijan God form.
Hopefully thats what happens in the manga
If the sensu bean was split into two you would be healed fully but only fill your stomach for just 5 days instead of 10 though I do think the healing abilities would be a bit diminished
I swear I’ve seen half-Senzu as items in certain Dragon Ball games, and what they did was heal you halfway, but I think there _are_ moments in canon where characters are given damaged or split Senzu and seem to recover.
In fact, didn’t Goku split a Senzu for Krillin and Gohan during the Nappa fight? They both seemed to be fully healed.

Imagine if Goku learned how to shapeshift like Puar and Oolong early on. How much could that possibly change over the entire series? Would it allow Vegito to negate the effects of Buu's Candy Beam on himself? Would Goku be able to cut Vegeta's Tail immediately during the Saiyan Saga fight? What antics could that even unleash?

When MasakoX asked if you could cut the senzu in half well, you actually can because in the anime goku split the senzu in half when the were fighting Nappa

@@tercial actually according to the Daizenshuu even half a bean heals you completely, it even has the ability to regrow limbs. So that's just a small nitpick, but it does negate a few issues with the what ifs

@@tercial yeah, it is which is why I never understood why they didn't just split the beans all of the time. Future Gohan could have split one with future Trunks and got his arm back, there would have been enough for everyone after Goku gave Cell a full one and the Saiyans could go on training for much longer without stopping.
From what I've been able to find, however, the beans being cut up do have a drawback: a full bean will provide enough nourishment to cover 10 full days, but when it's divided into pieces, it gets incrementally smaller. Half a bean = 5 days and a quarter bean only provides 2.5 days and quarter beans don't heal people correctly.
I think we can attribute his bad decision to blood loss, and also quite possibly, a REALLY bad concussion.
All of these what is have me thinking, 'what if Chi-Chi kept fighting? What if she was a Z-Fighter alongside Goku, Piccolo and the others?

I'd honestly like to see this continue further into a potential Moro saga or to see what Beerus means by 'getting serious'.
I feel like for the Tournement of Power, you could have used the Manga's version of why it happens (besides Goku reminding Zeno about the Tournement). That being, both Zenos (in this case one Zeno) were getting tired of watching 12 Universes are were planning on erasing the 8 universes with the lowest ... what was it again... mortal score? Or something like that. When Goku reminded Zeno about the Tourney, this actually gave one Universe a chance to avoid erasure. The Manga version is a stark contrast to the Anime, where there was no reason for the tourney, nor was there a reason for the erasure of the universes that lost. Because of this, Manga version of Goku was not seen nor put out as a villain in the way Anime version was. I actually like the Manga's version way more.
Would have been interesting to see that version here.

I think you should of put Cell in the tournament as it is shown that he could reach his perfect form just getting more powerful I.E. he could train for it.

Also I wrote this awhile ago so I don't exactly agree with it now but I see what I was trying to say. Which was that Semi Perfect Cell turned into Perfect Cell without the need of Android 18.
@@block1506 The only reason he returned as Perfect Cell after losing 18 wasn't because of the Zenkai boost. It was because of programming in his cells storing the form and power away, for such a situation as what happened to him in the Cell Saga.

Bulma knows who King Kai is in this timeline after the Freeza saga. Bulma could have figured out a way to contact King Kai so he could give them the location of New Namek where Bulma & company could wish on the Namekian dragonballs.
I really don't think Gohan has the mind to achieve Ultra Instinct. He is waaaay too strategic, like Vegeta, they'd have to find their own way around it. Goku has it cause he doesn't think about his movements.
The thing about the senzu beans, if their recovery was based on the amount of bean consumed then wouldn't they have to eat more for more grievous injuries? From all I've seen, they are 'magical' and just getting enough of it in them for their bodies to notice should be enough
Nope, one senzu gives 100% health recovery for what the body is capable of doing, plus 10 days of feeding.
When Goku gives half senzu to each Kuririn and Gohan in the sayan saga in the manga, they both recover partially and retreat from the fight after being told to do so.
What could be possible under these considerations is that a person returns to full health with less than a whole bean if they are just lightly injured at the time.
That alone gives tactical narrative options for a bunch of very interesting what-ifs in my opinion
As for the 10 days of food mentioned, Goku got hungrry sooner in the manga, probably for having a different need and Karin-sama quoting expected value for humans.
Yajirobe also tried to eat a handful of beans at once and got stuffed round feeling sick for being so full.
I always wanted a movie following Vegeta and his final battle with the Androids, would have loved to hear Future Vegetas speech and having one final battle, also to see the others fight too, and although lose all of them even Yamcha fight till their last breath as I think the future Z Fighters were most likely a lot more braver, even when fighting against all odds.
I never realized how much Gohan and Trunks lucked out getting their respective mother's brains and respective father's strength.

About the whole godform thing im really confused why anyone would think that half saiyand cant go super saiyan god it only makes sense after all they can go super saiyan and great ape (assuming they have a tail) so i dont see why they wouldnt be able to touch another saiyan form

When you think about it. The main timeline we see in the show is actually an alternate timeline. The original timeline is future Trunks' timeline since it already happened.
I know the Into and part 1 are pretty old but pointing to the Senzu bean thing, I think in either Battle of Z or some other game you could obtain half a Senzu to be used as a minor healing/revive item

Taking those dastardly Androids out the picture, Future Gohan had potential to be an extremely powerful warrior! This idea was explored during Dragon Ball Heroes: Galaxy Mission many years ago. It was the first time that Gohan(in ANY timeline) had achieved Super Saiyan 3.
All though I like this idea I think they would still go back in time, Gohan wouldn't want his past self to go through what he did and would ask bulma to let him go back anyway to avoid the trauma the team had gone through

The hardest question: cant multiple senzu plants be planted? Nothing says it cant but my only reason it didnt happen because: 1. Korin didnt need to plant another one since, he and yajirobi almost always stayed up there, they never had to use the beans for physical healing, 2. If a company found a bean and farmed it then most industries would go bankrupt and humanity will eventually depend on the beans since if it went world wide there would not be any hospital, the technology would not exist and doctors wouldnt be a thing, 3. It cant be plant, the original senzu plant is the only one to exist and if it dies it dies, even though the dragon team could have wished for like 1000 senzu beans but then Goku and Vegeta could fight for multiple years nonstop and exploit so much zenkai boosts to the point no villian would stand a chance

Technically Trunks is responsible for creating at least 3 of the time rings. 1 for him going back initially, 2 when Cell came to our timeline, and potentially 3 when Trunks destroyed the Cell in his timeline preventing Cells timeloop (much like when Beerus created a timering by destroying Zamasu and breaking his time loop)

I agree with most of this just one thing. I doubt Gohan would reach Ultra Instinct, it’s not a simple power up. There’s a reason why Goku was the one to reach the transformation, and why it’s currently exclusive to himself among mortals. That’s because it’s easier for Goku to let go of thought and allow his body to take over. And as you have stated many times in this video, Gohan is a thinker and works out what he should do. He’s more like Vegeta when he fights than his father. I know we want Gohan to be the hero of the story but it just doesn’t make sense
In a way, I think him being a thinker is the reason why he'd be able to achieve it. Whis had been trying to teach Goku but he didn't seem to take it in, whereas Gohan on the other hand would probably understand the theory behind it. Yeh it's a bit fan servicey, but it can work.

@@DocumentarianWeady if thats all there was to it, anyone could do it. It's like any martial arts form, just very advanced. You need to understand how it works to use it effectively. It's different for Goku because main character, but Whis even said he was trying to teach Goku Ultra Instinct. Probably indirectly, but that would best for him. Gohan being more academic would probably have a harder time reaching the mindset needed for it, but he would quickly learn the basics and likely have a much deeper understanding of how the power works, probably avoiding the whole exploding thing Goky went through.
I'm happy I found someone who actually makes reasonable what ifs. Some people really be making these trashy what ifs, that make no sense basically making your own story. And when someone says something about it people are like "It's called a what if". I know it's called a what if but yourvmaking your own story.
in all technicality a what if is someone's own story that's separate from the canon if its not at least slightly separate from the canon then its not a what if so the point still stands if your what if is not your own story then its just the original story (or at least a copy of the original story) and not a what if even Masako x himself "makes his own story" that makes "no sense"

I do have a point to make now that I've reached 57:51 though; I disagree that Goku would let Gohan take the blame for the tournament if he was standing right there - ESPECIALLY if Gohan just got punched in the face for it. Goku would absolutely fess up to bringing up the tournament, probably saying something about how Beerus shouldn't be such a "scaredy cat" and how it's just one tournament - similar to what he just told Gohan. Anyway, going to watch more now!
Manga version of DBS didn't have Super Saiyan Blue Kaioken. Goku just developed a strategy of going from ssg to ssb to help speed up his reactions against Hit. They could've still earned Hit's respect

I like the story, I don’t like the idea of Ultra Instinct from Dragon Ball. It limits us to how strong they can become. It makes us wonder whats beyond Ultra Instinct, or if Ultra Instinct is the last of it. A Technique or Form that cannot be touched and attacks with the hardest of blows, whats to stop Goku from using UI over and over again.
Exactly my thoughts. The technique is too OP to implement any further progress.
