The video in this format is 3 hours. They *absolutely* spent more time than that writing her for all of the episodes up to the compilation. And a lot of this characterization probably comes from considerations of previous discussions, What Ifs, and roundtables. In practice, it probably took the channel _weeks_ to write her like this.
I enjoyed these videos of Chichi far more than I expected. This was quite a treat since I always wished that Toriyama had elaborated on magic in the DBU since all we really got was Baba, Babidi and Buu until we hit Super with Moro. Great Work as always MasakoX!
Yeah it makes sense that Chichi will have to step up against Moro. After all thanks to her quick actions there is no Majin Buu for the Grand Supreme Kai to channel himself through in order to interfere with Moro or to call on the reincarnation of Kid Buu to lend his key to the Spirit Bomb to destroy Moro.
This is a great idea. To be fair Chi-Chi can still be the lovable tiger mom while increasing her power and training steadily with Goku. Even in the Original Canon, she is legit the strongest woman on earth. I actually think Chi-Chi is rather sweet and endearing. I don't get the hate for her. I agree that Toriyama doesn't want to stumble so he just does what he thinks is safe. The badass mom trope really is what Videl and Chi-Chi should be developed into.
Plus Chichi would work really well playing off Goku as one of my favorite kinds of pairings: Both of them are actually kind of clueless hicks on a lot of subjects, but simply because of Goku's obliviousness and goofiness Chichi comes off relatively more capable than she actually is and always thinks she's the voice of reason. Basically "A goof" and "Also a goof but high-functioning goof hiding it much better." Ironically, thats the source of a lot of great Vegeta and Goku jokes, where both are clueless about some social grace or something, but Vegeta acts way more confident that he totally does and unlike Goku is smart enough to keep his mouth shut.

So I'm hoping for "What if Launch was a Z-fighter" this December - you could have her use some specially customized ki based weapons / pistols, guns, rocket launchers and some creative ki based gadgets in battles. + her mastery of ki makes her able to make her sneezing ability unlock other shades of hair and personalities alongside it. How about a red haired launch that's determined, energetic and fight driven, a pink haired one that amorous, lovey dovey and clingy, a black haired launch that is focused, serious and stoic, a green one that's intelligent, clever, jealous, sneaky and witty, and more etc. (But she cannot control in which she will change when sneezing)
Pink Launch would probably get alone with Ribrianne. As much as I don't like her, I could see some weird team up until they had to fight each other or Launch sneezes and Blonde Launch goes ham on Ribrianne

Maybe red could be gauntlets, green could be kunai, pink could be a bow... the list goes on, and since it would only work with her, you could even give it a run in the ToP...
I honestly believe that the reason Goku never taught anyone else Kaio Ken was because as far as I can remember is they never asked. Besides the only people it would really benefit would be the pure humans. It would allow them to be alittle more relevant when most everyone else has either Super Saiyan or in Picolo's case can fuse with other members of his race.
@Lee Zenkais aren’t applied when a Saiyan hurts themselves. Self inflicted wounds equals zero Zenkais. The self inflicted harm of the Kaio Ken would fall under this. Look at what happened in Super when Goku combined it with Blue for the first time. If Zenkais applied to Kaio Ken then he’d have surpassed Beerus in that instant or at the very least closed the gap between their power significantly.
I really want to see this version of Chi-Chi in another What If but it is Future Chi-Chi, holding the Power Pole, Future Paur hovering around her like a Fairy Shield.
"Something Goku can't counter" Goku LITERALLY countered death without Dragon Balls after his fight with hit. Suffice to say if Goku has dealt with something enough times, he finds a way past it.
Masako...i know it's easier to take a pre-written character and improve on a story, but if anybody were to animate them...this is the third one they should do. R & R obviously and Resurrection F...Good Frieza. And thank you for listening to the fans. Perhaps the third amendment will come if they animate other arcs.
Thanks for updating the finale, it totally makes sense Pan would jump into the magical teachings with her potential an all. Although she didn't appear much in DBS they definitely fixed the future potential problems with GT Pan and I'm excited to see where they go with her post DBS. Definitely will have parallels with the original Dragonball as she trains with Marron at Kame' house but also have adult present Trunks and uncle Goten as good role models as well. Plus Vegeta and Goku are so powerful now they'd be busy training with Whis or doing stuff away from Earth so Pan can have her own adventures with Gohan watching in the background just encase she needs help, but she probably won't lol. Reorganized Red Ribbon army working with the Pilaf gang and wishing on the dragon balls to bring back King Piccolo or Cell, anyone?
I like the voice acting good sir. Really great writing, great following/inventing your own story. This is a really impressive video in multiple ways. Major props.

@@samuel_goopster6600 Hercule as an Android would make him far stronger than 17 or 18. Lapis and Lazuli are AFAIK normal teenagers before becoming Androids, while Hercule is the strongest non ki using human on earth.
I really enjoyed the series and I do appreciate the extended ending you've given this movie. Chichi's involvement is very in character in this particular story as well as her resolve in the end of it; I would love to see this side of her in the original series. Overall you did a great job on the series and I like to see more of the other ones like Z fighter Bulma, Saiyan Krillin, Mark Hercule & Android Yamcha, and female Goku ( which I think 'Lotus' would have been a better name for her)
See Toriyama take some cues from DBZ Whatiffery to know how to make the Wife/Female Companion more likeable and competent as well as actual getting to know the Hero and appreciating him despite his glaring Faults and building it as equals Bless Masako and the Whatif Round Table and other What If Producers of the DB community
Other then chichi Toryama didn’t really make any of the other female characters unlikeable hell bulma is like one of the most importing characters in the entire show 18 is getting back into action And ok videl I have a few problems there

With _What If Chi-Chi Was A Z-Fighter?_ getting an extended ending in this video, maybe you could rewrite Part 12 (the Universe Survival Saga) of _What If Raditz Turned Good?_ when the eventual "full story" video for that series comes out...
I watched these as they came out, and I watched this compilation when it did too. Now I'm back again for some good Masako masterclasses in Dragon Ball storytelling.
1:03:30 my only complaint about this and also in the original show is that it seems like the power poll is at its limit but Goku took the rabbit gang to the moon. I would expect the moon to be MUCH further than the lookout.

Decided to get the very last part out of the way first. Huh? 🤔 So that's what happen to Chi-Chi in DBS makes sense with where her character is at. At least we get the idea of Chi-Chi been involved in the Moro Arc still. 👍 I like to still think Gohan still trained with the Z-Sword at somepoint, breaks it, and still got the Ultimate Form from Elder Kai after free him, because Ultimate Gohan with Magic sounds awesome. Oh boy Pan training with Chi-Chi and Fortuneteller Baba. Finally yeah if Chi-Chi was a Fighter she would happy and everybody else too now to start from the beginning to watch it over again, but full story time. Anyways again overall another good series, and looking forward to your next video soon.
Just realized a minor funny. 1:03:38 “the pole had extended further than it had ever done” but then, Goku used it before to go to the moon. Not a major thing or anything, just a thing I just noticed.

While there are a few things I'd change, I really enjoyed this fanfic. I truly wish Chi-Chi would have been a Z Fighter in the canon universe. Fighting along side her husband and allies in all their battles against their greatest enemies (as well as the tournament of the other universes). I mean, she was suppose to be "The Strongest Woman In The World".
At the beginning, the what if was very great without a doubt, but when we get to the King Piccolo saga, it focuses more on Chi Chi and in some way, Goku gets pushed to the side. From there on it feels more like a what if Chi Chi were the main character. I would be on board for that if it were. Don't get me wrong, I like the fact that Chi Chi has more involvement with Goku and the Z fighters, learns magic getting a new gi and getting better character development in the process, but this is still Goku's story not chi chi's. I feel like this fic took away from Goku in some way.
I love this version of the story, up to the Frieza saga. It makes sense for this what if to be more pragmatic and be like “yeah chi chi is insanely powerful at this point and would be able to fight side by side with Goku”… you gotta remember… in the OG series, Goku had to fulfill an ancient alien prophecy that they weren’t even sure was real to be able to defeat Frieza. I feel the weight of that should’ve remained, with Goku still Soloing final form Frieza on his own.
What I imagined would happen, is that frieza would aim to strike down Gohan, but ChiChi notices, and steps in the way of the death beam, sacrificing herself for Gohan. As she falls to the ground, Gohan catches her sobbing uncontrollably begging his mom to stay with him. “Please mom, don’t go again! I can’t lose you!” Goku sees this and flies straight to ChiChi’s lifeless body, cradling her in his arms. Goku goes blank, vacant and emotionless, as frieza powers up another death beam “Oh my I’m terribly sorry! My fingers slipped! I was aiming for the brat, you see. Let me rectify that mistake” Then in the last second, Piccolo arrives freshly fused with Nail, and crushes Friezas hand “Not gonna happen” Then piccolo wails on 2nd form Frieza like he did in the main timeline, giving Goku some time to stew on what just happened… …His wife… his lover… his best friend… gone… And she can’t be wished back by the dragon balls now since this is her second time dying (Goku isn’t thinking about the Namekian Dragonballs right now as he’s reasonably preoccupied) As this is going on, frieza sees he’s on the ropes, and he won’t be taken down by some Namekian scum, so he quickly takes evasive maneuvers to get time to transform.
Frieza throws the battered and beaten piccolo to the ground, ready for his new super saiyan plaything. At this point, it plays out the same as it did in Z, with Gohan taking Piccolo and his mothers body to their ship and leaving, for Goku to have his legendary battle.
You know, that makes me kinda want more Magic-based Z-Fighters in Dragon Ball. We only have Buu if we can even count him as a Z-Fighter. I mean, the concept of Inner Beasts as magic(despite being more related to Ki IRL) could open many other things, since you could have some of the humans learn it as they are kinda weak right now. They could be weaker, but have more options, like Jacks of all trades.
Goku's first death felt cheap due to the contrivances that lead to it. Him dying there would be completely fine, him dying there because he had to pee *and* the bathrooms at the restaurant were closed *and* the closest one was at the tournament grounds. Just a very small detail that in my opinion was flubbed from a writing angle.
watched this a few times and as I near the end of the year, I'll say this, certain elements in this gave me joy, gave me hope, everyone might not understand but keep at it there's something big coming
I think there are a lot of good ideas in this and that this is a much better version of Chi-Chi than the original, but I think that she, and by proxy everyone else because of her presence, are just generally too strong throughout. Chi-Chi spends a majority of this being even with or just below Goku in strength and I think that's a bit much. I think her going the magic path is cool but doing that should've restricted her physical training more than it did, even if its just because the time and focus required to keep it sharp meant she simply didn't have as much time to keep up physically. But the magic could bridge a lot of the gap and allow her to punch far above her weight class so to speak. Instead it just kind of seems like there's no drawback to the magic resulting in her pretty much being even with Goku. Also even if it was probably too predictable, I would've liked to have seen what would've happened if Raditz's cowardly nature made him too afraid to face Vegeta after his failure on Earth, and so he just decided to train Gohan himself and sort of take on the role that Piccolo did in the original show, with Gohan softening him up and impressing some of his parents' courage on him over time. Either way this is good stuff and the way you tell these stories, even if I don't always agree with them, makes it fun to watch and listen to. And Chi-Chi is definitely a character that deserves better than what she got in the original.
Toriyama could have easily gave Chi-chi powers based on the Chinese Zodiac. He father being Ox king young chichi would start out as a user of Ox style. An as she travels with Goku she learns all the different styles until She an Goku both know Dragon style. Which combines each style together. I would have loved to see that development for chichi
Love how masako gives us the concept of a dragon ball that you can’t “tire of” , it has so many things that could actually fill in those gaps of filler, instead filling them with great side stories or background stories

I think this makes better since,I'll never understand why she stopped fighting after dragon ball ended and had gohan,if she countinued training she would've been a pretty good z fighter with goku and gohan,sure she'll never be as strong as they are but she would still be one of the strongest humans females,I love these what if videos,I really do belive she should've continued fighting after the dragon ball series

An unexpected surprise but a welcome one.
In just 3 hours, MasakoX wrote a much better character for Chi-Chi than Akira Toriyama did.
There is value in building on what others have made even if you couldn't make it from scratch.

Akira Toriyama has already admitted he sucked badly at writing romance. Perhaps this screws up his characterization of Chi Chi as well.

@@samuel_goopster6600 Hercule as an Android would make him far stronger than 17 or 18. Lapis and Lazuli are AFAIK normal teenagers before becoming Androids, while Hercule is the strongest non ki using human on earth.
I really enjoyed the series and I do appreciate the extended ending you've given this movie. Chichi's involvement is very in character in this particular story as well as her resolve in the end of it; I would love to see this side of her in the original series. Overall you did a great job on the series and I like to see more of the other ones like Z fighter Bulma, Saiyan Krillin, Mark Hercule & Android Yamcha, and female Goku ( which I think 'Lotus' would have been a better name for her)

@@painvillegaming4119 I know man but we are talking about the Main character Love Interest and the Other Potiential Main Character Mother I like Teen Chichi in the 23rd World martial arts saga espically when she impress Goku with her fighting style but after that one of adventure to see Grandpa Gohan the moment Chichi became a mother to Gohan and found out Goku true heritage she became relatable but barely tolarated by the fandom until we hear the actual reasons she is the way she is that why I like this version of Chichi she is more involved and actual show more of Intrested in Martial arts and has something to bring to the relationship her knowledge and expertise in Magic based combat something Goku cant learn but Gohan and potiential Goten can sharing both her and Goku genetics and also Goku is more loving towards his wife and knows what marriage is and agreed to it👍🏾♥️😎

I watched these as they came out, and I watched this compilation when it did too. Now I'm back again for some good Masako masterclasses in Dragon Ball storytelling.

Decided to get the very last part out of the way first. Huh? 🤔 So that's what happen to Chi-Chi in DBS makes sense with where her character is at. At least we get the idea of Chi-Chi been involved in the Moro Arc still. 👍 I like to still think Gohan still trained with the Z-Sword at somepoint, breaks it, and still got the Ultimate Form from Elder Kai after free him, because Ultimate Gohan with Magic sounds awesome. Oh boy Pan training with Chi-Chi and Fortuneteller Baba. Finally yeah if Chi-Chi was a Fighter she would happy and everybody else too now to start from the beginning to watch it over again, but full story time. Anyways again overall another good series, and looking forward to your next video soon.

Just realized a minor funny. 1:03:38 “the pole had extended further than it had ever done” but then, Goku used it before to go to the moon. Not a major thing or anything, just a thing I just noticed.
When Nappa chose a person to fight, what went through my mind was, "eenie meenie miney you."

While there are a few things I'd change, I really enjoyed this fanfic. I truly wish Chi-Chi would have been a Z Fighter in the canon universe. Fighting along side her husband and allies in all their battles against their greatest enemies (as well as the tournament of the other universes). I mean, she was suppose to be "The Strongest Woman In The World".
At the beginning, the what if was very great without a doubt, but when we get to the King Piccolo saga, it focuses more on Chi Chi and in some way, Goku gets pushed to the side. From there on it feels more like a what if Chi Chi were the main character. I would be on board for that if it were.
Don't get me wrong, I like the fact that Chi Chi has more involvement with Goku and the Z fighters, learns magic getting a new gi and getting better character development in the process, but this is still Goku's story not chi chi's. I feel like this fic took away from Goku in some way.

I love this version of the story, up to the Frieza saga. It makes sense for this what if to be more pragmatic and be like “yeah chi chi is insanely powerful at this point and would be able to fight side by side with Goku”… you gotta remember… in the OG series, Goku had to fulfill an ancient alien prophecy that they weren’t even sure was real to be able to defeat Frieza. I feel the weight of that should’ve remained, with Goku still Soloing final form Frieza on his own.
What I imagined would happen, is that frieza would aim to strike down Gohan, but ChiChi notices, and steps in the way of the death beam, sacrificing herself for Gohan. As she falls to the ground, Gohan catches her sobbing uncontrollably begging his mom to stay with him.
“Please mom, don’t go again! I can’t lose you!”
Goku sees this and flies straight to ChiChi’s lifeless body, cradling her in his arms.
Goku goes blank, vacant and emotionless, as frieza powers up another death beam
“Oh my I’m terribly sorry! My fingers slipped! I was aiming for the brat, you see. Let me rectify that mistake”
Then in the last second, Piccolo arrives freshly fused with Nail, and crushes Friezas hand
“Not gonna happen”
Then piccolo wails on 2nd form Frieza like he did in the main timeline, giving Goku some time to stew on what just happened…
…His wife… his lover… his best friend… gone…
And she can’t be wished back by the dragon balls now since this is her second time dying
(Goku isn’t thinking about the Namekian Dragonballs right now as he’s reasonably preoccupied)
As this is going on, frieza sees he’s on the ropes, and he won’t be taken down by some Namekian scum, so he quickly takes evasive maneuvers to get time to transform.
Frieza throws the battered and beaten piccolo to the ground, ready for his new super saiyan plaything.
At this point, it plays out the same as it did in Z, with Gohan taking Piccolo and his mothers body to their ship and leaving, for Goku to have his legendary battle.

You know, that makes me kinda want more Magic-based Z-Fighters in Dragon Ball. We only have Buu if we can even count him as a Z-Fighter. I mean, the concept of Inner Beasts as magic(despite being more related to Ki IRL) could open many other things, since you could have some of the humans learn it as they are kinda weak right now. They could be weaker, but have more options, like Jacks of all trades.

Goku's first death felt cheap due to the contrivances that lead to it.
Him dying there would be completely fine, him dying there because he had to pee *and* the bathrooms at the restaurant were closed *and* the closest one was at the tournament grounds. Just a very small detail that in my opinion was flubbed from a writing angle.
Actually, I found there was something very Toriyama about it. He'd usually do stuff like this.

"Majestic."

watched this a few times and as I near the end of the year, I'll say this, certain elements in this gave me joy, gave me hope, everyone might not understand but keep at it there's something big coming
I think there are a lot of good ideas in this and that this is a much better version of Chi-Chi than the original, but I think that she, and by proxy everyone else because of her presence, are just generally too strong throughout. Chi-Chi spends a majority of this being even with or just below Goku in strength and I think that's a bit much. I think her going the magic path is cool but doing that should've restricted her physical training more than it did, even if its just because the time and focus required to keep it sharp meant she simply didn't have as much time to keep up physically. But the magic could bridge a lot of the gap and allow her to punch far above her weight class so to speak. Instead it just kind of seems like there's no drawback to the magic resulting in her pretty much being even with Goku.
Also even if it was probably too predictable, I would've liked to have seen what would've happened if Raditz's cowardly nature made him too afraid to face Vegeta after his failure on Earth, and so he just decided to train Gohan himself and sort of take on the role that Piccolo did in the original show, with Gohan softening him up and impressing some of his parents' courage on him over time.
Either way this is good stuff and the way you tell these stories, even if I don't always agree with them, makes it fun to watch and listen to. And Chi-Chi is definitely a character that deserves better than what she got in the original.

Toriyama could have easily gave Chi-chi powers based on the Chinese Zodiac. He father being Ox king young chichi would start out as a user of Ox style.
An as she travels with Goku she learns all the different styles until She an Goku both know Dragon style. Which combines each style together.
