I do appreciate Mark' s sense of humor, a really top-level woodworker and yet doesn't take himself to seriously. I have gained a great amount of training from watching Mark. Love the videos.
That is the funniest thing. Anyone else would have reshot the entire video. Glad to see the humor and real life remaining in the content. Going to build that for my chisels. Will go unzipped to make it authentic!
While I love the large in-depth projects you present, I love these smaller projects...they keep the woodworking moving in his shop. I promise I didn't stare too long.
Hey Mark. Just wanted to say that I love your videos. You have such a relaxed style. ^^ And as a non-native speaker I like your clear speech. It is quite easy to follow you. 😃
I did the same magnet thing on a box I made for my palm gouges, only I covered the magnets (and the entire inside bottom of the box) with some nice 0.3mm birch plywood. Clearly we’re both brilliant.
I LIKE HOW THIS VIDEO WAS POSTED 2 YEARS AGO, BUT I CAME ACROSS IT AND LAUGHED OUT LOUD AT THE BEGINNING WHERE I COULD NOT STOP CHECKING OUT YOUR OPEN POUCH. its still funny!
For the small chisel, use the Forstner bit to drill for the magnet, insert magnet, cut a plug to fill the hole, recut the slot. Glue in cork. OCD is satisfied. I bet now you can't stop thinking about it. payback for 0:11
Dude props for just rocking the fact that it's overkill lol. I mean... In a content Creator's shop, almost everything is overkill from what's absolutely necessary for function... Because it's necessary for appeal which strangely enough is profitable.... anyways! ... Great video. And I really appreciate the transparency about overkill. I think more starting woodworking need to know the possible simplicity they can go with to get great functional results
Thanks man. Though I wouldn't say my overkill shop is that way for the sake of appeal. I'd say it turns off as many people as it attracts. I do it because that's what I want to do. When I stopped building furniture for clients, I went back to more of a hobbyist mentality and my shop pretty much reflects that. But it's more about my personal desires than appeal. If I were going for mass appeal, I'd probably downgrade everything in my shop.
@@woodwhisperer oh. Well that makes sense to me. And that's totally fair. Well again, props for just rocking it lol. I know most people would do the same if it were viable for their situations. I'm personally very "function" motivated but that's because my business is making wood products. If I were retired or I did this as a hobby I would likely take the appeal up several notches as well
@@woodwhisperer "Try not to stare at this!" LOL! - Allow me to tell you that you do such a great job educating us and helping us...we appreciate it every bit!
I just finished my workbench and trying to decide whether I should build drawers. Do you have any regrets about adding it to yours. I really enjoy your humor and your skills. Thanks for posting
Tears are pouring because I'm laughing so hard. Best intro ever. I laughed at the blatant pointing it out...and then died as the slow zoom started. If this woodworking gig of yours doesn't take off, you've got a career in comedy videos.
When the zoom in first started, I thought to myself "wow, Marc is really starting to take his editing to the next level!" Then after 10 seconds, it became clear what was happening. ha!
In the process picking up a Veritas router plane. What is the most common size blade you find yourself using? Or should I just pick up the set that comes with all the blades?
Thanks for the inspiration because I was needing to build holders for a router plane and card scrapers. Can you tell me your source for the rubberized cork sheets you used in the chisel holder?
As a newbie would you recommend a push block, a gripper and a push block, two push blocks or maybe just one gripper to try? I have some table saw experience and I'm just working on small and medium sized projects. I'm just interested in your opinion. Thanks!
I'd start with a push block and a good push stick. It's important to understand what's going on at the table saw and what makes a push block different than a GRR-Ripper. GRR-Rippers aren't cheap so you should know what it does and how it works to decide for yourself if the value proposition is there. I love the GRR-Ripper but I don't use it that often....only on cuts that would be questionable any other way.
Make sure you use a SAFE push stick, and not just a stick with a notch like a lot of saws come with. th-cam.com/video/7t01di0k2hI/w-d-xo.html th-cam.com/video/2HB9Sv4cMgk/w-d-xo.html
Why not use french cleat system? I just got done watching your other video on it and I'm interested in doing one for myself. But have you abandoned it for some reason?
Some nice ideas here, even if some are plagiarized 😉 Out of curiosity, what made you choose the Veritas router plane over other brands, please? I’m considering either the Lie-Nielsen and the Veritas. Thanks.
I can't comment on their current offerings since things may have changed, but at the time when I purchased Veritas was the only company making a wide range of cutter shapes and sizes. They also have a really nice locking mechanism and removable blades that make sharpening easier. The splayed angle of the handles feels better in hand as well.

Beauty table.
Great video. Could you explain that table saw technique you use at 1:45

Really appreciate that!
All I could hear was Cremona saying, "Nice Crotch!"
Thank you for not refilming the intro. I needed the laugh today.
Exactly. I bet that was the toughest 3 seconds of Marc's life deciding whether to reshoot or not.
I watch it every time I need a good laugh and can`t help thinking of J when he made that zoom-in...how amused he was :)))))
I have never felt closer to you.
Mark has to be the only woodworker on TH-cam that doesn’t use French cleats for everything!
David Green and ironically, I probably started that trend or at least encouraged it. 😂
Mark, I love your sense of humor!!
And here was me thinking Matt Cremona was the only one that heavily featured Crotch figure in his videos.
Ha! Good one

Anthony Boudreaux not at all. It’s a nice way to store the stuff you use at the bench among other things.
So unnecessary yet so satisfying!

lmfao. that slow zoom got everyone in here feeling like uncle touchies.
Just got one of those router planes and still have everything in the box it came in. This is pretty do-able!
I thought the “staring” comment was about the paid promotion graphic! Once it was fully zoomed in that I realized what was going on! #reallife

I'm sorry, but the rack for card scrapers is not screwed perfectly vertical on the wall.
Ya its an eighth of a degree out. Terrible!
