Self absorbed perspective; does us in every time. I first saw this video years ago, and the wisdom then was just as true as it is now. Your sweet calming voice, always full of laughter and the joy of the Buddha, has nourished me in so many ways. I hope you are doing well.

The problem is not a problem, the real problem is how we react to that situation . I believe we need to learn to accept the real situation then we will not be struggling. If we can’t change the situation due to outside our control then we must learn how to accept it or learn how to stop those thought into our mind.
    Great video, thank you

Thanks Mindah, Ajahn Brahm's advice is wise indeed! It is always harder to anticipate than to go through with something difficult. But it can often be just as hard to calm the mind enough to see through it all. At least it is for me ... 🙂

Even when surrounded by cruelty and mindlessness, I find peace in renouncing the consumption of animal flesh and animal byproducts. This alone has brought me much joy, knowing I am not contributing to the needless torture and slaughter of sentient beings, even if I am not perfect. Our body is a garden, not a graveyard. We can rejoice in this comfort even amidst suffering and confusion, taking refuge in our own potential for Buddhahood.

I am the world's worst procrastinator. After watching this earlier today, I decided to stop putting it off and go walk for 4 miles. It was very hot at noon today and I had not walked in about ten days, but decided I was walking 4 miles, heat or no heat. (I live in Las Vegas, so it gets hot here, though the humidity is generally low.) Today my heart was beating 100 mph, but I was determined to finish the 4 miles or get as close as I could. It took me An hour and a half, and I went slightly over 4 miles, but I did it. Thanks you Mindah.

I was in a situation a few years ago where everyday going to work was almost as depressing as going to funeral! In my meditation I was able to cope with the -ve thoughts associated with this. However the emotion was still there. lt was like a stain surging through my veins. I realised that I could treat this like an itch in my meditation. I found that it did not disappear, but I was able to just except it. This taught me the power of mindfulness and my confidence in Buddhist teaching. Great to see this latest vid. Thanks a million

It's 2+ hours later since I watched this, but at least I have my bookshelf re-organized now. I've been looking at it for weeks after buying it and thinking "Yeah, I'll get to that" and thinking often about how I should get that done. Tonight I said to myself "Thinking about it is harder than doing it." So now it's all properly organized and alphabetized. Now I can sit down, look at it and think about why I have too many books. Attachment is a struggle after all. ;)

I've been taking in several handfuls of your videos over the last couple of years. I should admit that I resisted, in the interest of "wishing the internet away", updating my google name so it would be "safer?" for me to comment online. Well it would be easier for me to wish myself away than wish the internet away, so Hello, I am Jin of California. A very useful and well put together channel. TY, Mindah. I think concomitant to "doing before contemplating" mundane tasks is the idea of getting completely square with The Way Things Are, or TWTA. There are basic rational (non-subjective ways) to view the world, without which society breaks down quickly. How one chooses to act in the face of plain reality is another matter entirely. If your talks veer into this direction, it would be well by me. And I'll leave my thoughts about the Ayurvedic idea of self for a place where that is the main subject. TY again.

    • @surupa123
      @surupa123 7 ปีที่แล้ว

Step1: Understand there is no time called future or past. After living with this you
will realize all thoughts occur in this moment and it has no time too..
      This is the path (road)
Step2: further living with this understanding you will realized The “I” or “me”
is just a concept (fake) which is the reason and it is just a endless
stream of thoughts… like a line of ants.. one after the other…
so all beings receive endless death and birth continuously… all
satisfactions are temporally… they dilute with the time (an
illusion) ..you feel always not enough.. after years of meditations
too... this patter call Mara or Satan.
Step3: further living by observing the things on step 1 and 2 you will automatically
shift to the other thought pattern (Buddha/The god) and you will
feel by 100% that you are not going to have a rebirth. Also you will
start feeling the extreme happiness which is not dilute with time.
Also you will realized all beings are in a endless dreams inside you,
coz now the meaning I has disappeared and you are the Universe. (
human mind with Mara pattern cant feel any of these, actually you
cant see things only you feel) .So now you are a door..
      * Please not this who thinks that they are doing Buddhist meditations.!!!!!
The truth finder ( Gauthama Siddhartha) learned all mediation techniques and
practiced from teachers Alarakarama and Uddaka Ramaputta. But final Gautama
Siddharatha found these meditation were not the correct path. So gave
      up those all techniques.. *
people misunderstood by looking at Buddha's statues.. ppl think that buddh’s statue
indicate that doing meditation. No it is not. That is his off mode.
Like standby status of a laptop. It is called nirodha-samāpatti.
      So people please be wise..
      The main foundation
is understanding a thought by creating an another thought, This is
pranja capability. It can dilute the fake ego and wake you up from
the eternal dream. But doing mediation you will get a temporarily
satisfaction for few years.. or few life-cycles. Wake up neo!!!

This is very helpful, thank you! Do you still have plans for a membership site? Also, do you have advice for joining local meditation or Buddhist groups? Are there certain "red flags" to watch out for?

    • @EnthusiasticBuddhist108
      @EnthusiasticBuddhist108  7 ปีที่แล้ว +2

Yes, the membership site is not too far off now! ;)
Regarding "red flags" for Buddhist groups, I think one thing to look out for is to be cautious about centers that only promote their own teachers' / lineage's books. For instance, if their whole library of books that they lend out to members doesn't have a wide selection of texts from other teachers (including teachers not directly connected with their school) then I think this could be a warning sign. It's not unusual for a Buddhist center's shop to only sell their teacher's books, but if their library is the same and only stocks their teacher's books, then this would be a bit strange. You might find that a Theravada group only loans out Theravada books, but that's perfectly normal. Many schools will only hold books in the same tradition e.g. Theravada/Mahayana/Vajrayana.
So to summarize this point, just try to find a center that seems more embracing of other schools and teachers on the whole. :)

Constantly chant : Namo Amitabha, Repentance and Dedication of Merit.
    Repentance
All the unwholesome karma created by me.
Arising from beginningless greed, hatred and delusion:
Expressed through my body, speech and mind.
I hereby regret and repent them all.
    Dedication of Merit
May the merit and virtue accrued from this work, dedicated to all.
Repay the four great kindnesses above and relieve the suffering of those on the three paths below.
May those who see or hear of these efforts generate Bodhi-mind.
Spend their lives devoted to the Buddha Dharma and finally be reborn together in the Land of Ultimate Bliss.
