The father of my daughter did come back to me when I thought it would never happen. We had 15 years together before he died of cancer. I don’t understand Gods plan for our lives sometime. I miss him so much every day.

@@TNsher776 I'm the same age as Amy Grant. My parents' generation knew that marriage was PERMANENT and remarriage was adultery. My generation was confused...because of what we saw being accepted in the church. My children's generation (millenials) are fine with divorce and remarriage and don't see it as a big deal. The church is apostate and divorce and remarriage is the clearest indicator of the apostasy.
@@setfreemiss Vince's wife was a Jehovah's Witness. They were unequally yoked as that is a cult and not true Christianity. Amy's Husband was abusive to her. I do believe people should try harder in their marriages but sometimes there are circumstances we can't live with and I believe in the grace of God. Do you want them to divorce and go back to their original spouses? How would that help things? Not to mention the child they have now... At some point we should just be thankful that God gives us grace to make mistakes find forgiveness and start again. Instead of preaching against sin that is obviously under the blood since they are both born again believers, we should praise God that His mercies are new every day and that he has redeemed 2 sinners and blessed them so much.

She is an immense talent, a voice of gold and a natural. Vince is a world-class guitarist, also with an incredible velvet voice and can write great music. The two of them have NOTHING to answer for, marriage is a complex thing and our lives can take many paths, not all of which can be expected or anticipated. They had to overcome unhappy situations and found each other, and raised five wonderful kids - that's a heck of an accomplishment.

I'm an old woman, I have so much life, suffering and experience. I'm not a dewy eyed optimist, I'm a baggy eyed realist, and I don't judge her. She owes me NOTHING. Get over your judgemental attitude. We all sin, fall down, fail and need help. I lived in the christian idol spotlight and its hot and impossible to maintain. I like being my real, silly, absent minded real self, thank you. We were never called to be perfect celebrity examples. Do try to remember that.

I met Janis with Vince backstage of the Grand Old Opry in December 1993. She was not a very pleasant woman to be around (at least not that night) and he was very kind. They seemed like they were both unhappy with each other. I believe in Matthew 7:1 and I think what goes on in their personal life is just that, not for us to Judge. Amy and Vince are both beautiful people and seem to be happy and blessed. Great song! God Bless!

Sometimes life is funny. Sometimes not so funny. I believe there was a great attraction between them. But I also believe them when they say,other than chemistry, attraction, they never were together physically until divorced. It's nobody's business either way. It's been 20 years since this song was released and i still love it. I went to see Amy Grant this year at the N.Y.City Winery and she was wonderful. Her new Cd "How mercy looks from here" is excellent, i like every song on the Cd. I have been a fan since Amy's Age to age album. Check out her new Cd, you'll be glad you did.

I go the Methodist church and my pastor is remarried. I don't dare to question his faith or say that he is going to hell. There are lots of remarried ministers in the church today. God uses him to bring spiritual food for the church. A lot of people are being blessed. Isn't that what going to church is all about?

He also said take the log out of your own eye before you point out the speck in someone else's eye. Why are so many of you so called Christians so hateful? If Amy and Vince sinned (which I am positive they did not), their sin wasn't against me, so they don't have to ask for my forgiveness; and I don't have to give it. The fact is that they were two very unhappy, lonely, emotionally drained people in failed, horrible, emotionally abusive marriages. By luck or design, they found each other and their hearts filled in the missing pieces. They are happy. Their exes have moved on and are happy. As Vince once said "I have to lay my head down on the pillow at night"--meaning: "This is between me and God". As it should be. As your sins should be.
You are positive they didn't sin? Well, yes they did. As we all do! And I find funny that someone else suggested that Amy's husband was on crack! First I do not believe that, a devout Christian as Amy Grant claims to be, marrying a man, who is a hard core drug addict?!?!
Second, even if he was on crack, is that any better than adultery? Desiring a man who is married to another woman?!?!?
It just sickens me that so many in organized religion pick & choose what can be looked over and what cannot.

Read the Texas Monthly interview with Gary Chapman from the 90’s when he was still married to Amy. He admitted he was addicted to marijuana and cocaine, but claimed he had beat it.
We all have sins. None are “worse” than others. They are all abominations to God because He is perfect. Luckily He gave us His son Jesus to wash away the guilt. Forgiveness is a free gift. All we have to do is accept it.

My first husband left me and our little girl, focusing on starting a new business and found a college friend ( party girl ) we divorced. The pain is still raw, oh how I love him still. We married before God and had a daughter. I remarried as i thought I was moving on in my life. My ex's divorce from his second wife was last year. For us, it was an angry divorce, but transitioned to a friendship to which I was always polite to his second wife. Yes, I will love him forever. The love of my life
Austen- God will judge ALL of us because none of us are blameless. He will also forgive ANY of us who accept His grace and mercy. There are no unforgivable sins in God’s eyes. He forgave David’s sins of adultery and murder and blessed him and Bathsheba with Solomon. He forgave Saul/Paul and changed his heart to do great things. Jesus forgave the murderer on the cross beside Him and said “today you will be with Me in Paradise”.
Grace, mercy, forgiveness are powerful things, and God offers it freely to all of us.
I remember first hearing this song on Letterman, probably in the same year or maybe '95. Vince was not doing the harmony. I believe it was the guy kind of behind Vince, playing the acoustic guitar. I've looked for it on TH-cam with no luck. I'd love to see that performance again. [Partially because I fell in love with Amy at that time! :) ]

When you work with a person closely time after time you do develop close friendship with respect. If you don't you are pretty strange. I for one had a very close relationship with one of the male co-workers but we both lived by the principle of life. I involved my husband every step of the way of any doing to make sure that it was open to him with respect. I detest people who don't have goals in life and nothing better to do than worrying about other people's lives.
