Love Amy..no matter any circumstances that came her way. She dealt them with dignity and grace. She and Vince are an amazing couple. God bless them as they live their lives. ❤

6:23 Franklin Tennessee. I lived there from September 1982 to February 1983, a Beautiful place! Probably wouldn't recognize it today in 2023, 40 years later.

I understand how some people are still upset with Amy leaving Gary for Vince and think she should have given more to make it work. Well, that's a great theory on paper, but the reality is that there comes a point in your life when you have nothing else to give. It doesn't mean you're a bad person or one who doesn't care when you walk away; it means you do care for yourself and the other person that you aren't going to pretend or fake feelings. It sucks to lose, but it sucks more to stay in a losing situation. Amy is happily married to a man who is just like her dad was; and Gary, too, has moved on. Many blessings to all of them.

Thank you for that comment. You are so right. People do not know what she went though. There have been other biographies of Amy Grant that whole year after House of Love, she could no longer deal with Gary's addiction and such. She was lonely, tired (she had worked RELENTLESSLY through a tour, numerous specials, guest appearances, and being alone with the kids as Gary's career was going in a different direction and her engagements kept mounting) by the time of "Behind the Eyes", she had hit a wall and so many noticed that she no longer had any happiness, joy, or inspiration. She had fallen into a dark place. She was PILLORIED by those who should have offered her grace. She was CRUCIFIED by those who always blather "sinners saved by grace.. we plead duh bluhd". She had undergone therapy and counseling as if SHE were the problem.. and there are STILL people 30years (!!!!) later who will not let this go! Thank G-d she found her soul mate and has a blended family. Given ALL her health issues and challenges and traumas, for her to still make music and still have hope and optimism, THAT is the power of faith and love. THAT is what truly sustains us.

I love that Amy is involved in Habitat for Humanity. My first experience with Habitat was going on a college trip to Tennessee to work on Habitat house during Spring break my freshman year.

My fav songs from Amy’s House of Love are the title track with her now husband Vince Gill, Lucky One (my absolute favorite), Whatever it Takes, Oh how the years go by and Love has a hold on me.

I always see sparks flying between Amy and Vince...even in the early years. I'm glad she found happiness with someone who seems to adore her. No offense, but I get "bad vibes" from her ex-husband, and I think she did all she could with him(to no avail). Notice how he NEVER smiles at any of her successes or awards. (Just my observation).

I knew they were in love even then and called it quietly to myself. I was still a bit shocked when it was official but happy for her at the same time. It was in the eyes. You can't chose who you fall for. It happens.

When Gary had his show on CMT, he would take a few minutes to answer questions from the audience. The thing that stood out to me was whenever someone asked a question about Amy, the sound was muted--except for one time, it got past the sensors (maybe someone fell asleep in the control room) and Gary looked so perturbed. I didn't watch him a lot (his humour was not my cup of tea) but when I did, he mentioned the children and their nanny, Phyllis, but only referred to Amy as "my wife". Even way back before Vince was a thought, I did not feel the chemistry between Amy and Gary. JMHO.

@@katemaloney4296 I'm so glad you shared this perspective I have been judgemental regarding her relationship with Vince Gill. There have been other professional people who have commented he appeared jealous of her success. I just thought she set her eyes on V. Gill until she got him this was apparent at times. Who knows what went on in those marriages. Obviously their happy twenty years.

Yes, and that cd was released on May 14, 2013. It's a dream recording for Amy. James Taylor, Vince Gill, Carol King and Sheryl Crow are some of the guest artists on this recording.

One of the best musical marriages right here. Gary Chapman and Amy Grant. Gotta hand it to Gary. What he touches turns to gold and Amy, she is one of the best singers on the planet.

She also wrote an album during the time she was waiting for Vince Gill to leave his wife. I need to walk in the dining room and get the title so I can quote it. Anyway, it's all there. I have and still are a fan of Amy's however, I never felt she was completely honest regarding her pursuit of Vince Gill.

Her songs have always reflected what is currently happening in her life. I also observed a slight subtle difference in the tone of her interviews once she married V.Gill. Less humility.

@@debrastarr9147 it was Behind The Eyes. I remember first hearing that album and thinking - on my goodness, her marriage is breaking up. And sure enough it did.
It was quite obvious that her and Vince were in love. I wish the very best for them.

Amy Grant's marriage to her first husband, the drug and alcohol addicted Gary Chapman, was extremely unhappy long before she even met Vince Gill. (He kept his addictions secret until he married her.) She has never revealed the truth about the suffering she had to endure at the hands of Gary, for the sake of her 3 children by him. Hence she became the target of criticism in the Christian world. She said that one day the truth will be revealed, hence, she is content to stay silent. Gary Chapman was also extremely jealous of Amy's success.

It''s been 30 years.. get over it. You don't know what was going on with Amy, including Gary's addiction. I'd worry less about an incident from 30 years ago and more about TRUE sins of the church wherein THOUSANDS of children are being abused by Pastors, preachers, teachers, sunday school teachers, worship leaders, youth pastors, etc. THERE is where the true sin is. Stop being a hypocrite yourself.

Sister ,she didn't destroy her marriage.. Gary Chapman's ADDICTION did. It was unbearable for her. She never mentioned what went on, but in subsequent biographies from 2000 or so about this period, OTHER close friends/relatives related that it was hell for her. Divorce was her only option.. and it wasn't even a year or two later that Gary got with his current wife, so why are you crucifying Amy? Where's Gary's part in all of this?? It's been 30 years.. get the hell over it! She finally found happiness and is STILL making music despite all the health issues, accident and trauma she suffered.. and she still inspires. What have YOU done with your life beside being a Judgmental Sanctimonious Sally???? How many charities have you helped, how many struggling souls have you offered compassion to? I don't even have to guess.. it's a big, fat. undeniable, resounding ZERO. Maybe YOU should worry about your own soul and less about someone else's Already redeemed and restored life.
