@@christopherliston2371 That sounds great. I heard it's expensive though. Is it still possible to afford the cost of living with a normal job like an accountant or policeman for instance?
@@michip.904 absolutely. It's the South, so the cost of living compared to the north or west coast is substantially less. I've got a friends that were Cops, Fireman and they have a great life, nice houses etc. Downtown real estate is expensive and so the housing has risen, but all in all it's not that bad.Traffic is getting worse with the growth but there are some wonderful neighborhoods, and the people are great.
@@christopherliston2371 thanks a lot for the inside. 👍 Unfortunately the cost of living is getting higher everywhere. I'm not to worried about traffic as I'm used to much worse here in Berlin. 🙂
This is by far the best video I have seen. Lovely music, fabulous scenery and comprehensive information. I’m so tired of watching videos showing little of the place and mostly featuring the faces of the presenters and what they had for lunch. Well done, and thank you very much.
I live in North Charleston and was a volunteer docent for a few years at the spring festival of houses and gardens and I would absolutely love to get to tours!!!❤
I think Charleston is on the top of aesthetically pleasing cities in America. I wish more cities would take a lesson from Charleston, St. Augustine, Alexandria Virginia and places the like of that.
Charm is directly proportional to vintage. Pretty much every city built post WW2 was designed and constructed with the automobile in mind and that is why they feel like places to escape from. Like Dallas for instance, near where I reside. Or Phoenix. Me and my wife are planning a visit to Charleston the end of the month and we can hardly wait.
The content is informative , the music is soothing , the pictures are beautiful and yet you speak with passion ! Thanks ! I am going to Charleston next week.
I moved to the Charleston area in 2015. I really love where I live! It’s such a beautiful area. We visited for spring break and ended up moving 5 months later.
There is so much to love about Charleston, but I think East Bay from Waterfront Park down to White Point Gardens on the Battery is my favorite section. Don't miss Spoleto from the Friday of Memorial Day weekend to the finale at Middleton Place on the 2nd Sunday of June. There are so many great eats, great history and architecture, and the friendliest people I America. I have been to all 50 states and it is my favorite city in the country. The only thing that keeps it from perfection is the sultry heat/humidity/hurricane danger from July thru September.
I am not sure why a city would apologize for a role in the slavery trade. Don't get me wrong, I hate the history of slavery in this country, but WE as current citizens did not have a hand in these atrocities and our history needs to be preserved so that we don't EVER repeat the mistakes that our ancestors made.
History is still being preserved. Not sure how apologizing for slavery is preventing that from happening...If anything, there are too many people who would prefer to act if is slavery never happened. They're the ones who don't want to preserve our history.
@@josephturner1834 I don’t think there are many people who don’t acknowledge that slavery existed. I don’t know what you’re talking about. All my man was saying is it’s a little strange to apologize for something you played no role in. No one alive today played a role in the slave trade. Just seems like virtue signaling.
You didn’t physically have to be a slave, stupid, but just like the white slaves masters benefited from slavery. Black people also did not benefit from not being paid.
Moved to Charleston 4 months ago. Best decision I’ve ever made
Have you seen any tarantulas or similar types of big spiders?
@@michip.904 No Tarantulas, they do have palmetto bugs which are big roaches, gross but harmless. It's the Best Town in America.

Glad you enjoyed it! Thanks for the kind words!
I grew up there and try to come home to Charleston.
I am very fortunate to be a tour guide and watch people witness our city for the very first time!
I live in North Charleston and was a volunteer docent for a few years at the spring festival of houses and gardens and I would absolutely love to get to tours!!!❤
What an awesome video, so relaxing that forces you to watch it over and over..

Love Charleston! We're headed there this week ❤
Any tips on cool things to do? Wanting to make it a anniversary trip.
Beatiful city
Growing up in the desert🌵.. I always felt like my soul was missing & should of been born here 🎷
2/10/22 Viewing; loved it.
Beautiful. Love it.
I truly enjoyed this video. Thank you!
the humidity is horrible, but the rest of it is amazing,,,,,,,,,I would def live there
You eventually get used to it.
Great video. Making the move to Charleston later this month.
How was the move? Hope you’re doing well!
@@ShoreMeSomeMore Living on Daniel Island and loving it.
Great video minus the 1881 typo. Lived n Charleston 2013-17 and loved it there and wish I was still there but go back 2 or 3 times per year
Very true! I lived there for 4 years recently and I am heading back there the next couple weeks. For how long? Who knows.
The most interesting thing I learned from this is that the first shot of the civil war was fired 16 years after it had ended.
As locals we live about 1 hour north of Chucktown. We go about 1-2 times a month. Great hotels, great food, great history...
Going in a few weeks looks sooo lovely! I’m from the NY area would move there in a heartbeat if my son &daughter in-law would follow.
Hermoso Charleston. Lo he visitado en varias ocasiones y este año mi esposo y yo iremos a celebrar nuestro 25 aniversario. ❤
Why did 10 people need to correct the 1861/1881 issue.. I think the 1st sufficed.
Dog-pile
7:40 favorite photo, hope to own one like that and place it over the fireplace and have a hot cup of hot cocoa. 🏡
I remember going to Charleston some years ago. I liked it.
This video makes me feel nostalgic for a place I have not been
Best at 1.25x speed. Lots of good info.

I love the heat! I would like the heat all year round.
Thank you for your video very insightful. Can you tell me where can I sign up for those tours you mentioned?
Holly cow!!
I think you meant 1861 for the first shot of the civil war? This video is amazing by the way!
Excellent video, except, the first shot of the Civil War was fired in 1861, not 1881. But very enjoyable tour of one of the South’s finest.
The first shot at Ft. Sumter was shot in 1861 not 1881.
@6:36 “The first shot of the Civil War was fired in 1881.” Umm no. Off by 20 years
Oops! Thanks for the correction! We try not to misspeak! Sorry for not catching this one before publishing!
Sorry to break the bad news to you, but the first shot at fort Sumter was fired on April 12, 1861
Yeah, don’t know how we missed this typo when proofing our script! Thanks for including the correction here!
I Loved the City..the harmony of nature and architecture, but.....I love the freedom more.!!!!!
Watch out for the Gators at Middleton Place
Agp for life

The first shot fired on Fort Sumpter occurred on 1861 NOT 1881. Otherwise, it was an interesting video.
I want to live here so bad, but it is challenging to find low income apartments for seniors.
Love city
The hunley was not the first combat submarine in the world, that honor belongs to a revolutionary war submarine called the turtle.
Thanks for sharing!
Cool 😎
When is the best time to visit?
Springtime.
I would say in the spring or fall.
Charleston gives me the impression of being quite genteel.
First shot Fort Sumter 1881?
dude - The civil war was OVER by 1881. LMAO! The first shot was fired in April 1861
Great video just need to correct the civil war date 1881
Twenty years ago Charleston was fantastic. Now it’s over run with tourist and over priced junk
Had to play at 1.25 speed because the narrator talks so slowly
Good idea!
Plantations ? Really bruh
What?
So the city formally apologized for slavery. Bet, so how about our reparations
Our? We’re you a slave? Was l a slaveholder? Give me a break!
Keep it moving, Jerome.

Entitled idiot
How about a damn job.
Where are the clubs and parties??? This place is whack
Lol…. You have to be kidding
hahahahaha
Are you from a 3rd world country?
