Love the character, but this figure was kind of underwhelming. Thought it was going to be a tad taller. The tabs behind the shoulders don't tab at all, the hands constantly fall apart when holding the rifle, and to top it off, on my copy, for the black tabs on the bottom of the backpack, the one that's on the left side was actually for the right side (basically got 2 right side tabs and the left side can't tab in to the waist for the other modes). For the price, I definitely expected better. It looks great, until you start fiddling with it. The best Iron Factory figure to date, in my opinion, is Cygnus (their take on G1 Jetfire). Such a solid and beautiful piece.
This is pretty cool...but if only they weren't so overpriced. As it is, I think that I'm good with the Power of the Primes Optimal Optimus+DNA Design upgrade kits...they sauce up the "combined" robot, gorilla, & jet modes a little bit, and "restore" the armored truck mode (because wheel attachments). Oh, and they give Backpack Primal...I mean the little Optimus Primal his swords. 🤷🏽♂️ Nice "Three Times a Lady" reference, there!! Not sure about that big black combining gun (no big snazzy orange machineguns???)...
You sold me! I don’t collect legends. It I am a Beast Wars fan. This isn’t my favourite version of Big Bot however I have always like the design and you’ve sold me on the idea that this version of him has a place in my collection!
This thing would be an instant buy from me if (a) it wasn't my least favorite of the three Optimus Primal forms, and (b) I wasn't so desperately trying not to start a Beast Wars collection in a THIRD scale.
Great review as always. I wonder if were see this mold again in a different color. Since they did the red (fire) and blue (Ice) dragon megatron. Maybe a shattered glass color scheme or Black and red to look more like his first gorilla form. Like they did with the Throne of the Primes figure. Keep up the great work looking forward to your next Iron factory review.
due to this form being OP for the first part of the season, the writers had to keep him occupied or, y'know, that one episode where Primal gets puppeted by Quickstrike
The one thing I don't like about this figure, is the arm bracers don't attach to the shoulder paldrons like the original, but it's a very minor nitpick.
I don't (and won't) own the figure so I can't check it, but on the back of the shoulders it looks like there is a slot to tab them in. You can see them easiest in the "jet" mode since it has the back facing up. They may just not be shown in the instructions in which case Bobby would have never known to try it. Maybe ask on a message board where someone who has the figure can answer.
This figure is seriously one of the better releases from IF recently. Makes HeatDeath look sooooo bad though. Which is a shame. I’m glad this one was the better of the two in the end though!
Just to be clear, there are two rumors. One is based on a very brief sighting of FT Quietus and UT Challenger in the documentary while the authorities were raiding Black Apple's home/office. This has been dismissed by many as just coincidence.The second and more serious rumor is based on a chatlog from Taobao prominent TF seller Little Bee Prince that canceled and refunded their FT pre-orders.

I don't 'get' why this (and their Megatron) are so Perfect Effect-inspired.

To be honest, Optimal Optimus figures tend to just have vehicle modes because the original toy and show model did.
