This design comes from the IDW comic when he gets an upgrade for the DJD army battle. As far as Ultra Magnus figures, this is the one is the best so far
I'm with Bobby in that I'd prefer painted eyes to light piping because if there isn't light behind and above then, the figures eyes looks really dark. They do look great when there is light though. Cool figure.
I got this just as I wanted a good, unique legends-sized Ultramagnus; but was not prepared at all for what came to me. This thing is huge for a legends sized figure, he's wide, and seriously heavy. It feels great to pick up and handle. To be honest, it feels much more like it is a Master Made Titan, just smaller. It's entirely in a class of its own, and I've actually placed it with my Threezero 3A Optimus and Bumblebee, even though aesthetically it fits more with the other Iron Factory figures I have.
While I'm not a fan of this version of Magnus in the fiction, as a figure, this may be the best version of the character released by any company and IF's best since their Megatron. Really makes me want to see them do an Optimus 2.0 to their current standard of quality.
I wonder if were see this mold again as a repaint or retool as a new character down the line? With the size of this legends scale figure not sure who they could do. Maybe a chattered glass recolor like they have done for Jetfire and Prime. Maybe a retool as Fort max since he was another big bot and was in the IDW comics. Great review as always keep up the good work.

While not something I want, I am very impressed by this, and hope that a future Deathsaurus and Star Sabre might be just as good. Also, The Fallen and Bruticus’ head and back cannons have light piping.
Great review as usual, how does he scale with with the Flame Toys model and the furai action line with only has idw optimius prime , ike the furai action stuff? I don't collect scale stuff so I'm wondering if I can fudge him of a little shelf of mine.
Wow!! Just look at him! He looks absolutely fantastic!! I wished they made an MP scale version. I wish Magic Square, Iron Factory, mechanics fans toys enter the Masterpiece Scale stage. As always great video Bobby S.
Definitely one of my favorite IF figures, agree with your assessment entirely. There's a couple additional weapon options on the figure like the flip down "brass knuckles" and some fold out cannons on the forearms which just add to the fun. The one part of the figure that scares me is how much force it takes to snap the sliders for the cab halves in and out of position. That's some thin plastic to be needing that much pressure.
I love the figure, but I hate that they made Ultra Magnus nothing but an empty shell in IDW. If I ever get this, I'm throwing Minimus Ambus away and stripping him from my imagination.

After watching your video about the third-party company closing and looking at this figure I'm wondering if Iron Factory picked up a couple of people from other companies. Can someone explain the origin of the Tigertracks size comparison gag? Is there a specific video where this began, or is just a matter of always using the same piece so that the viewer can gauge relative size?
@@kingragnork I figured as much. But did the joke have an origin point on camera? Or is it just supposed to be understood by the audience based on context clues like... how he throws it around carelessly.
I always think Ultra Magnus figures look ugly and over-complicated, but this one looks kinda nice. Head seems too small for the body, but I don’t hate looking at this.
Great work Bobby, I definitely agree a lot of Minimus was an afterthought but his robot mode is quite nice at least, I'm just happy to have him. And while the light piping doesn't work as well for him, Magnus' himself has some amazing piping, it works vibrantly on mine even with just moderate back lighting. I totally get disliking it when it doesn't work as well but he definitely doesn't fall under that category IMO. Also, when you were comparing him with Tarn, not sure if you recall but this is Magnus from the final MTMTE arc so he's meant to be even bigger than normal. Thanks for the review, cheers 🍻

I think he bought the figure and regrets it so treats it with disdain, which is the joke. But it's always used for size comparisons.
