That is a beautiful job. Not sure how many restorations you have done but that is as professional a job as I have ever seen.

    Beautiful to see …
    Restoration to original
It’s so easy to butcher these old vehicles and put big modern V8’s etc in them
But original is the way ford intended them to be and they are so special that way
Great to see an original flat head six in there !
    Congratulations well done 👍

Excellent job. I have the same year truck. I rebuilt it 30 years ago, but not this nice. I plan on redoing it in the near future. It was our farm truck when I was a kid. Thanks for the detailed video.

The Flathead 6 was the first 6
Ford had since Pre-Model T days. It was a Long Stroke of
226 cid, and I think it's likely that since it was identical to the Continental Red Seal engine, that Edsel and Henry
had a license or some arrangement; Willys~Overland
Jeep Wagons and Pickups used the Continental engine into the late '50s. Built, whether Ford or Continental,
like the Proverbial Brick Sh*t House 😂. IHC had its own
Green Diamond line-- same idea. Chevy's OHV Stovebolt
6 never even had a pressurized oil system!
GMC had that but Chevy didn't until the 235 came out.

Wow beautiful job. I'm starting the same project now with my son, 100% stock build. Same motor 226 6 cylinder H motor. So far a lot of internet research. Can you recommend where I can buy a 226 engine rebuild kit? Thanks a lot for your help.

      Hi Eric, I appreciate it!
I highly recommend Egge Machine for all the internals. Parts are hard to come by if you are piecing a kit together. Egge isn’t the cheapest, but the quality can’t be beat. I also sent the oil pump to Egge to have it machined and rebuilt.

Did you have any trouble getting parts? Where do you get them?

Hello, sorry for the late response. Depending on what I needed to find, I bought from quite a few different vendors. The main one would be Chuck’s Trucks.

Did you find a nos stake pocket to repair your original?

    • @GPW-vt3hb
      @GPW-vt3hb  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hi Scott,
They are the original pockets, and I fabricated the lower sections. I detailed how I repaired them in my restoration thread of the Ford Truck Enthusiasts forum. Here is a link to the general location in the thread that deals with the pockets.
      www.ford-trucks.com/forums/1608411-1950-f-2-restoration-thread-16.html
The thread covers start to finish the entire rebuild, in much greater detail than this youtube video, if you want to read the whole thing.

      Hi,
I prefer factory stock restorations, but everyone has their preferences. Here is a link to my restoration thread. It's lengthy, but it shows the restoration in much greater detail than this video.
I would make an account on the Ford Truck Enthusiasts forum and post some photos of your project. You'll get a lot of help on there.

      Hope that helps!

Where did you obtain the rear differential gears to reduce the overall ratio?

    • @GPW-vt3hb
      @GPW-vt3hb  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hi Scott,
The ring and pinion gear set came from Chuck's Trucks. Chuck is very helpful, and is the go-to guy for 3/4 ton and larger parts.
The gear set isn't cheap, but it was worth it to me, as I wanted to keep the original Timken axle.

Hello, my brother in law is currently restoeing the same Ford F-2 flathead 226-6 longbed.
We might have some questions during this build.
We are both admiring your work!
If you like, we could exchange email adresses?
I can send you photos of the car.
    Greetings from the Netherlands!

      Hi Sidney,
Glad to help out if I can. I recommend joining the Ford Truck Enthusiasts forum.
      www.ford-trucks.com/forums/forum41/
If you search in the 1948-1956 sub forum (it's what I have linked above), you can find my restoration thread "1950 Ford F-2 Restoration". Hope that helps!
