It makes sense. Unfortunately thats the only choice. We don't have alleyways like other cities People don't understand. If the bins are on the sidewalks, it would make it difficult for Sanitation.

Why not increase collection frequency instead of creating more street furniture unless these containers are doubling as some sort of traffic control

Everyone if you own a home be sure your sewer caps are on tight as well keep toilet lids down at basement level. They WILL get in

@Mr & Mrs O When they actually start being deprived of food I assure you they'll be around. They travel by sewer.

The underlying problem is that Manhattan has so many many restaurants and bakery stores which lure rats come out to the street

The containers are a great idea why not build them underground into the sidewalks or place them on the no standing parking anytime signs and eliminate special city official parking spots so taxpaying residents can keep the few measly parking spaces available in our boroughs.

This is just another way of the city taking away more parking spots and making it harder for cars citibikes now this shit

If this plan is implemented then rats will just move to the suburbs. Why not just collect all the rats into these containers and unload them all at Gracie mansion where Mr Mayor Nightlife and his new Rat czar can work something out.

If the containers are on the sidewalk and you park in front of it how is the garbage truck supposed to access it?
Putting them in the street is logical.

It’s not like people don’t take the subway. But for people that need to drive mind as well have spaces. Such as people going to Manhattan hospitals and etc. They get rid of them for dumb reasons. But your friendly overpriced garage will be open.

I think this is a great idea! Its worth getting rid of the parking spaces especially since we should strive reduce cars in manhattan in the first place. Its such an incredibly dense island, cars just dont make sense. invest more in public transit and walking.

War on rats? He needs to start in his spot in bklyn and work from there. This is typical, finally a good idea, but at the expense of drivers. Its impossible to find parking as it is,why not put these containers on the sidewalk? We already lost more parking for scooters and bike stands that are left all over the place when their done

I mean on one hand it's good for sure and it's an improvement. But on the other hand rats are super smart creatures. And if they csmt get the food on the streets. I wouldn't be surprised if more climb and find their way into people's apartments as a result.
