Does the xiaomi redmi 5 plus allow you to change your Text message notification sound to choose from your music folder being the music I added? Or does it only allow you to change the message notification sound from the pre-installed sound on the phone??? I am particular about this cause I create different sound for my text messages, ringtone and the sound notifications for app's like viber, instagram, yahoo etc
A friendly advice "Get this phone or go for flagship phones ... Don't look for any other phone" ..

Mihail Stefanov Is the minimum screen brightness dark enough? Is it still blindingly bright even at the minimum brightness level?
I'm planning on buying this phone but I worry because I use my phone a lot at night and a bright screen can easily piss me off.
Also, is the headphone jack output loud enough? My Zenfone Max has some pretty low volume headphone jack so I wonder if this will be any better.

The screen at the minimal darkness is dark.Lotta dark.It has reading mode which combined with the 5-10% brightness is perfect for the eyes
The jack is boosted and it is by far the best i've ever had
is the phone still going strong? my only concern with vettiwng cheap phones is them deteriorating faster

Switching from my old Moto G4 Plus to this phone has been a really good experience. Not looking back, I'm loyal to Xiaomi now.
I have one and I love it. Couldn't wish more for this price! Very decent battery life. A reasonably sharp 6 inch screen that's easy to hold and work with. Decent camera. Very solid, loud and clean speakers with some actual bass. Headphone jack is above average and it has built-in Equalizer. It's also very fast and snappy and I don't play games on my phone so yeap, Couldn't wish for more at this price.
I have the Black 64GB/4GB version btw.
Parsa Strife Is it good for multitasking/productivity? :)
Big Boss multitasking is good but could be better. You have to disable some memory optimization stuff in the developer options as it's enabled to "enhance the battery life" which I find unneeded with such a good battery life I haven't noticed any difference.
But still I expected a bit more from 4GB of RAM because if I scroll down like 50 videos in my subscription box and watch one if I switch to another app in the middle of a video all that scrolling is lost. Tho I think TH-cam itself is to blame here. As the app doesn't reload. Only the scrolling is lost so I have to scroll back up all the way.
I didn't have this issue 6+ months ago and my phone back then had only 2GB of RAM. But after some time I noticed this issue so I thought my phone and that 2GB RAM is holding it back but now it's pretty much the same even with 4GB RAM so yeah probably TH-cam's fault. Multitasking is fine other than that.
Idk what you mean for productivity. I think you'd be better of with a PC (desktop or laptop) for productivity as it gives you more performance and freedom. But then maybe there's something idk that a phone can do better.
Parsa Strife awh man, you really don't play games at all? I really wanted to get this phone but I'm a heavy gamer and I need to know if this phone is good with gaming in high graphics such as Critical Ops or ROS. Help a girl out?
hunter carson I think you should get the Redmi 5 (non plus) if you're a heavy gamer. It has the same GPU but the screen is 720p instead of 1080p. That's probably the best gaming experience you can get at that price range.

Should i change to redmi.5.plus? Is it a downgrade or upgrade? Im okay with mi max 2. But the display quality sux. Only 342 ppi compare to 401 ppi. Is it much better?
And my mi max 2 brightness are really bad. More when outside. My 50% brightess is abit dark and need put 75 or 100% when watching videos.

I had bought redmi 5 plus (MEG 7)
I have updated it at 9.5.9.0 stable

and after playing game NFS no limits. It was overheated at 45 temperature and it's ear speaker gone damage now.
Still it's temperature is 39 on normal usage.
Now Please help me.

It's probably using a completely different part of the camera itself, possibly, because I thought the same thing, looks completely different. Also, the comment above has something to do with it.

still using this phone as secondary and for tweaking stuff. It is still pretty much usable and it even runs Android 14. Yes there are lags here and there but it is tolerable, a few seconds of delay won't hurt ig. Wish i got the 4/64, that definitely would feel more smooth

Ferland Sala yes it is definitely worth it. For $200 you get a huge beautiful screen that is plenty sharp and bright, the camera is great, there's a flash on the front too! And it is very smooth along with having Android 7.0 (possibly getting 8.0 soon) and a great cpu even by today's standards

Noise cancellation is a MAIN FAULTY thing on this device... Audio in video recording sucks so bad that I will choose Redmi Note 4X over this one... :(

My dad just gave me that exact same phone and it's probably one of the worst phones I've ever seen in my life (btw it's even a first-hand). 5 years warranty? More like 5 years of torturing me like hell. Phone is super laggy, can't even handle low graphics. Camera quality is rlly bad, always coming out very pixelated. It even made a record of freezing at the home screen for 32 seconds. It's like there's a 15-year-old Nokia chip installed to the phone. The phone even drains its own battery when I'm not using it. I always made sure that I have at least 2GB of free space (requirements for the phone to work smoothly), and yet it's giving such poor performance. This reflects on how Xiaomi makes its money off of selling their gadgets at 5x their actual cost. I hope that this is the first and the last Xiaomi gadget I'll ever get. Honestly, what a waste of $300+.
