I have the Friedman IRX (and now the UAFX Lion) and I haven’t done an AB comparison yet, but I’m a fan of the Friedman amps inside the FM3 a bit more because there are more amp models, you can tweak it by going into the tabs and tinkering with things like the saturation knob, switches, tone stacks, power amps, bright cap, neg feedback, supply sag, variance, speaker impedance curve, pre/post eq, etc… the IR-X is a one trick pony. It’s a great trick though.
Great tones you are getting from the FM3. I recently purchased an FM3 and am using a Heritage H150 similar to your Gibson Les Paul. Do you have this preset and layout posted to the Fractal Axe Exchange? If not, is this something you are willing to share with us please? Thanks.
It sounds great, but I thought you could add as many effects as you wanted, didn't realise that the cpu maxes out just having delay and a tubescreamer!
They recently came out with the FM3 Turbo, but with the stock FM3 you definitely have to be strategic when you’re creating patches so that you save CPU. If you are worried about hitting the CPU, I’d look at the FM9 or the Axe-Fx 3.
I have the HX Stomp for awhile now and looking to 'upgrade'. I am looking forward to try my Stomp with the IR-X but also I am tempted to buy a Fractal Fm3 to do it all (tho stomp can also do it all). If you were on my shoes, would you get the IR-X or save up more and buy the Fractal?

I love my fractal FM3 (best $999 I’ve ever spent) however, I wish it had two amp blocks (for gapless switching) more dsp and like 2 more foot switches… and although it’s a little large, I think I’m going to upgrade to the FM9 as soon as they come out with a new version with larger scribble strips like every other product they make.
@@JordanSteeleyeah, I wish it had the DSP of the FM9 so I could run 2 amp blocks/cab blocks simultaneously for gapless switching or amp blending… and maybe like 2 more switches… the FM9 is gigantic!!!
If/when the FM models get gapless switching like the AXE III then you won't need more than one amp block. This is my hope for 2024. I would prefer a second reverb block so I can have an always on reverb then a second one for more ambient tones.

FM3 is a bullshit pedal. You spend too long time on it, instead of playing guitar. FM9 has more power for effects... but all Fractal equipment (FM3, FM9 and AXE EFFECT III) are totally a huge bullshit because it is a gaz factory for find your guitar sound.
