    Is it possible to cut cords with junk food? I've been struggling with eating healthy and letting go of unhealthy foods. Any tips and tricks would be much appreciated.

      I've thought about this a lot, and talked it over with clients and friends.. There are a few things I would say (obviously without knowing the specifics of your situation).
      First of all, get mad. Like seriously, think about how companies advertise addictive, high-calorie, non-nutritional foods to you, in video ads and on illuminated billboards. After they've taken your money and you've had your little dopamine spike, you're going to feel substandard, having consumed nothing of nutritional value - nothing to enrich your body and mind. Obviously, the junk food contains salt, sugar and fat, which light up the brain's 'reward system' and chemically produces a pleasurable feeling, alongside all the sweeteners and chemicals and preservatives, so you'll end up wanting more. Essentially, a dark spell is being performed on you each time. You are being bewitched by a very powerful machine that convinces you that you need it. You don't. You never fucking did. The machine feeds you this idea that junk food will perk you up, make you feel happy for a while, make your life feel easier, make you feel like you're having a good time. Your cord-cutting needs to be about severing yourself from this idea, and all of the branding and marketing (the machinery) behind it. I think anger and indignation play a worthy part here. It's about staring the machine in the face and saying, 'I don't fucking need you. You can't take my power from me anymore.'
      Once you've cut the cords, make a new commitment to yourself - a commitment to pursue feelings of ease and happiness and fun in other ways. In other words, commit to pursuing GOOD dopamine. Because once you've done the cord-cutting, you will obviously feel 'the machine' trying to reattach to you, trying to convince you that you need whatever it's selling. You'll be able to lean into your new commitment to find dopamine in less destructive ways. We re-make our commitments to ourselves every single day, and in fact every single time we make a decision. Your cord-cutting should be a memory that you can easily recall whenever you need to, so try wearing a bracelet that symbolises your departure from the claws of the machine and your new commitment to GOOD dopamine.
      THEN, make magickal connections to healthy foods. Strive to develop strong cords with good foods. Seriously, feel the vibration of the fruit you're eating. Order something healthy at the restaurant and take a quiet, subtle moment to bless and pray over it. Put the ingredients for your dinner together as if they are spell ingredients - talk to them, experience them, listen to them, pour your hopes and your potency into them. Really TASTE every single thing you eat on a granular level. Make eating into a visceral experience. Behave like someone who only just became able to taste and smell food - immerse yourself in the experience and RELISH it. (Seriously, sometimes I can feel the moment that a banana begins to release its potassium into my blood stream. Give your relationship with food THAT kind of attention. See food as a spiritual tool. Interact with it. Honour it.)
      Another important thing is that junk food desire can feel deeply personal. For example, maybe you desire junk food because it's what you ate during the good times in childhood. Maybe you desire it because you were never allowed to eat it, so whenever you consume it you feel autonomous. Maybe you desire it because it frees you from having to deal with using the kitchen or choosing what to cook. Maybe you desire it because it feels like it's connected to ease and light-heartedness, and that soothes your anxieties or calms your mental unrest. Whatever those deeper reasons, you have realised that none of your actual desires will be fulfilled by junk food. You have realised that you either never want to eat it again or you want to eat it occasionally without feeling crushed by the moreish claws of the machine. So, after your cord-cutting, make sure you keep reminding yourself that junk food is not the answer to whatever problem you're having, and it never was. It was always a temporary high and never a lasting wholeness. You have decided to seek the latter.

    At the end of last year I decided to do a number of long overdue cord cuttings.
    One cutting stuck out to me because my energy came flooding back. I was shocked. I saw the individual in question later. They wouldn't meet my gaze. They looked like death warmed over. Busted.

    When my best friend of 17 years broke up with me, I tied two ribbons together and then tied a knot for every year. Working with Mary Undoer of Knots I untied about one knot a day from New Moon to full moon, untied the rest, and then cut the knot in the ribbon tying us together. I burned their cord and kept my own ribbon, in a little bag with Hawthorne berries dedicated to our lady. It was incredibly powerful.

    Now one of the big questions regarding cutting cords is with Twin Flames. A lot of contention there (can you, can you not etc). Personally I feel that if you intend to break a bond, it can be broken. If you reconnect, the relationship would have changed, as we grow and mature, but when situations become - distasteful, it's okay to cut cords with old circumstances.

    not lost at all :) I like the terminology of a [cord] cuz it implies multiple threads/strings, so perhaps one could say we form attaching strings in our encounters and perhaps we're all connected in some ways despite not interacting but through repeated and/or significant interactions these strings multiply and [cord] up.
    always love hearing your reflections on these mainstays in magic(k? dont know if people still use the k lol).
    edit: i've been living a lie, chord and cord are two separate words!

    I absolutely love the way you explained about the casual sex part and also about mother's and their child.because I hear so many people who believe just because you sleep with someone once or occasionally you are some how giving part of your soul to that person I've had a few flings and in no way felt a strong bond with that person afterwards.and for mother's and children my birth mother abandoned me at a young age and never looked back.

    I really love the way you discussed this topic, it's of great interest to me since I recently did a cord cutting to sever ties with someone I was very close to platonically for most of my adult life who was harmful and abusive in a number of ways, and had to finally walk away from.
    I made a decision, almost on impulse, that I NEEDED to not only cut the cord, but "uproot" it so that this person can't have access to me on any level (first time trying this particular method), and I did so in a way where I used a tool to visualize and act out digging out a root or a bulb from my chest (also did this on the full moon of my moon sign for a little extra potency), and NO LIE my chest was SORE in that exact spot unexplainably the whole next day, like a tender internal wound, and it had me SHOOK! What's been interesting since is a certain sense of emptiness I've been working through (this was maybe 2-3 months ago) that feels different than past relationships I've grieved...could be just be the nature of this "breakup" and my nervous system working out that I'm safe, but there's definitely like, a gap or a hole or like, a blind spot in terms of that more "psychic" connection, of that makes sense. Like you said, hard to put into words 😅.
    Granted, I'm still healing from various aspects of our relationship, and of course lots of grief. But the physical feeling I got in my chest brought on a sense of permanence that REALLY discourages me from ever wanting to reconnect in any meaningful way with this person, even when it's tempting, even though love is still there for them. Kinda feels like, "that was and is DEEPLY uncomfortable and I don't want to have to do it again."
    Ramble just to say, based on my limited experience (I've done 2 cord cuttings, the first far less intense), I approve this message 😆
    Also I'm curious if anyone else has had physical symptoms like this after this kind of working? Or have I gone "cuckoo bananas"? (to steal a phrase lol)

    • @kelly-annmaddox
      @kelly-annmaddox  8 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      Very fascinating account!
      In terms of physical symptoms, I felt instantly lighter, less sluggish and more energetic with one of my cord-cuttings. I seem to remember a restlessness with another one, which resulted in a need to work out a lot. 😅
      The internal wound has been described to me by clients and we have worked on healing around it. ❤

    I have mental fictions that have devoloped in my mind over many years. Listening to this made me realize that most of the concepts in these stories are built on a concept of energetic soul ties. A lot of fiction I like to read also uses this concept with varying levels of healthiness.
    On a other note, hearing you say that you don't have a set belief on some things in your practice was extremely validating. I have been a Pagan since 2018 and I am still figuring out how I feel all the "woo" stuff works.

    • @kelly-annmaddox

      The state of limerence is really interesting to me, and it can be another one of those reasons why someone would 'amplify' or exaggerate anything that feels (to them) like an etheric connection. My perspective: Most of the time during limerence, a person who assumes that they have formed an etheric bond with their love interest is simply going to find the experience pleasurable and dreamy (if a little frustrating). No harm comes from them adopting this framework. However, sometimes the state of limerence is dangerous because it's profoundly hard for the person to accept that their love interest may not feel the same way. They then become less interested in what their love interest is SAYING about their needs and boundaries, and more interested in what THEY think they KNOW about the etheric cords between them. 😬 Limerence is a hell of a drug!

    • @holilex
      @holilex 8 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      @@kelly-annmaddox Yea, and to add on to that, i was just thinking that cord cutting is exactly what a person in the thralls of dangerous limerence would need. Even if they may feel the connection is real but it isnt. Maybe, if cutting the connection is too much for them, they could use the "freeze" way you talk about here. Then they might reset enough to build a more realistic version of the connection/person. I suppose i'm thinking about how spiritual people in general can "check themselves", if you know what I mean? Self awareness and knowing your shadow I feel doesnt get emphasised enough before stepping into tarot etc. Being in touch with your true intuition and not illusion, I suppose I'm tryna get at?? Also on a completely different note- thanks for introducing me to HasanAbi - I'm in his chat at the mo while replying :) xx

    Hi just caught up with this video just after watching your video about the manipulative relashionship video. Atm i'm having again some strong emotionally draining and stressful issues with a close family member, which i believe is using gaslighting, emotional manipulation and the victimhood technique with me. I feel so deeply uneasy and don't know whether i'm coming or going with that person, it's very unsettling and i 'm so fed up with it. I've been wondering about whether a cord cutting would help with this rather toxic relationship between us. Like i said the video came rigjht on time. Blessed be.

    ok, there is more to come and maybe you cover some of this question but i've just listened to you talk about your experience with feeling energy connecting you to a person you were trying to break away from, and my question is, in your experience, do these kind of things happen only with intention? Like, do you think the energy flow through the etheric cords happens because one person is reaching out through the cords to the other? Do you think the person you were in etheric connection with was making it happen, or in some way initiating the energy flow? Or do you think these kinds of experiences or "knowings" just happen due to the intensity of the energetic connection, without any specific intention or activation being applied? This topic is super interesting and I'm really fascinated by the idea of etheric connection as distinct from just having a really close relationship with someone.
    Thank you for this, super interesting topic!

    I’ve worked with mothers for years and the other problem with this romanticised idea is that most mothers do not feel it, and certainly not immediately and then they automatically feel like failures. It is so dangerous.

    • @kelly-annmaddox
      @kelly-annmaddox  8 หลายเดือนก่อน +4

      Omfg yeah, good point. The stress of having to conform to the Perfect Mother archetype can cause all kinds of issues, and can make women feel bad about things like post-natal depression or even just needing some time to adjust. Mothers are individuals who have children. They shouldn't feel pressured into magically displaying some mythic universal super power that leaves them feeling like failures if they happen to be having a unique experience that doesn't conform to a romanticised trope.

    Quick question, if you have a moment!
    I'm a fairly experienced practitioner and I've done cord cuttings for myself before. My question is, would I be able to do a cord cutting between two other people?
    One of my family members went no contact with her ab*sive ex-husband a year or so ago, but she's finding that she's struggling to move on still. They don't have children or any similar additional connection and they have not spoken since. She thinks a cord cutting would help her heal, and she asked me to do it for her.
    I'm assuming it can be done, but I can't find any information about it. Any thoughts from you would be appreciated!

    Something this video has me thinking of is the writing term "Chekhov's g*n" . Hear me out.
    Checkhov's gun basically is the idea that I'd you introduce a tool or a situation in a story, you have to make that thing relevant. So the tension builds when an audience realizes that "chekhov's g*n" hasn't been used yet, but by laws of story it has to be. That, or if you successfully make thw audience forget about Chekhov's g*n and then bring it back at a pivotal moment, it's exciting because the solution was not obvious, but still reads True.
    ---- In witchcraft and divination... Sometimes I know things or sense things that feel like "Chekhov's g*n." It's like I operate with the assumption that because it is there and I am aware of it, it is either For me, About me, or Relevant to something or someone around me. Same with cords. Once I become aware of an energetic cord, I feel almost an itch to .... DO something about it. Remove it, or loosen it, or send a message through it or... feel the energetic qualities of it, or whatever. But life is not fiction and sometimes "chekhov's g*n" never amounts to anything. And I guess sometimes I have to be okay with or find ways to filter or "focus away" when a piece of information like this appears? . Because I don't think things are pre-ordained, so an Awareness isn't necessarily a metaphorical narrative device to light the way. Sometimes it's just a thing that also simultaneously just exists. But I guess I could always Choose yo make it a relevant thing, or ask my guides if it is or should be...
    Idk just thoughts wrt cords.
